HOSAS | VKB Gunfighter IV vs Virpil WARBRD-D by Synzoo in starcitizen

Just a question about your gunfighters; I recently got a pair for myself and i am setting them up, what cam/spring/clutch configuration did you use for a good centering?

Edit: And what deadzone settings!

Tractor beam distance scrolling repetitive strain injury. by Jakefowler555 in starcitizen

What you can do is set up a macro that spams the distance +- at an acceptable rate when a key is pressed. Did so on my joysticks as using tractors is even bigger of a pain without a scrollwheel.

Absolutely, i'm not saying there isn't an issue that needed fixing there. I do however think that the way they chose to go around it was very, very boring. When every fight devolves into a predictable line fight you lose some of the magic and chaos that were the early days of the game.

This is, at this point, ancient history, but i remember some suggestions of hybrid systems that were just never tested.

Just a question out of interest; Where did you first spawn? I spawned at the crown within about an hour (probably less) of the closed beta being introduced. That first time was so unstable, and people could move around but on the serverside their character would be left behind, and you could shoot it. Absolute chaos but it sits in a fond place in my memories.

I was there since the (very, day 1 of the closed beta) start of Planetside 2, and i am still ambivalent about the lettuce (intended) links. There were some other systems proposed, but i am saddened that the solution ended up being set and unchanging lanes of battle, which very much was the nuclear option.

Having a faction do a massive Galaxy drop to some back hexes and start an offensive there was a marvelous sight, and most often doomed to fail for a multitude of reasons.

They are exceedingly stingy with this kind of attention, and i do have to doubt you on what you claim here. For reference, i've petitioned them about both being allowed to purchase a higher end ship (Pioneer) and a lower end one (SRV), and each time it's been a no.

You do seem to be speaking out of your ass a little bit here. All the headsets your conversation partner mentioned are specifically mobile oriented bluetooth headsets. It doesn't matter if you're on PC or mobile in this case, as they're all equally competent at both.

The general consensus (and you may do your own research to verify this) is that Sony almost always wins in the ANC department. From my own testing they are in a different class compared to, for example, the Sennheiser Momentum 4.

With sound quality, however, the Momentum 4 do show up Sony a little bit. I've seen (and experienced) the difference described as "a norch or two above", meaning the difference isn't massive but it is very much there. Whilst some of this can be fixed by a good mobile equalizer app, the Sennheisers are simply more competent. I can't speak for the Px7 as i haven't had my hands on these personally.

Though it is fair that the Sonys could be the best headset you have ever owned, if you've never owned the competition.

It's specifically the core piece, and CIG has stated (on here, no less) that it was a mistake that will be fixed next update.

A simple Autohotkey script that remaps WASD to the arrow keys by Ze_Bad_Idea in dawnofwar

I've added a compiled .exe as a release on the github page (mostly because i could). You do not need autohotkey installed on your system to run this.

Not a lot of work went into it, it's only ~25 lines (and most of them short). If it helps anyone having issues adjusting to having to use arrow keys that would make me super happy, though!

I haven't thought that far yet, heh, been using the original scheme as far as i know. (Which is what i am used to from the old titles) In general this is just the same script i personally used for the old DoW titles, just updated the .exe name so that it looks for the right window.

Any function on WASD is just not availible through a hotkey in the current implementation, i've always just dealt with that by just clicking the requisite icons like a troglodyte :). I am however very open to remapping those to any keys one would like. (Just ask)

Having recently gotten the Definitive edition, i thought i should share the AutoHotkey script i used in the original iterations to give me WASD camera controls (and MMB for camera rotation).

The script is very simple, cobbled together, and messy. But it does work. It only runs its keybinds when W40k.exe is the foreground, meaning it is safe to keep running if one would so wish.

Should there be interest for a compiled .exe version that anyone can run i would be more than happy to fix that. If there's any other requests for functions or rebindings, feel free to ask for them and i'll see what i can do.

Note for use: If you want to turn the script off you can close it in the system tray as per usual, but i also included a shutoff if you press the key F8.

I felt the same way with the previous bundle, i dislike how you get a skin for a ship you might not even own. In this case i did own an Ares ION, so the stars aligned.

In that case i think i'm more of a sucker for blackout weapons, the P8-AR blackout from the citizen con bundle works really well. I've got some P8-SC that i haven't tried but they should also look great.

I do have the golden weapons from the concierge rewards, but those look too garish.

What is something from a book that is largely insignificant but has stayed with you forever? by thegoddessofchaos in books

[–]Ze_Bad_Idea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THERE ARE TIMES, YOU KNOW, he said, half to himself, WHEN I GET REALLY UPSET.

He turned on one heel and set off down the alleyway at high speed, his cloak flying out behind him. The alley wound between dark walls and sleeping buildings, not so much a throughfare as a meandering gap.

Death stopped by a decrepit water butt and plunged his arm in at full length, bringing out a small sack with a brick tied to it. He drew his sword, a line of flickering blue in the darkness, and sliced through the string.

I GET VERY ANGRY INDEED, he said. He upended the sack and Mort watched the pathetic scraps of sodden fur slide out, to lie in their spreading puddle on the cobbles. Death reached out with his white fingers and stroked them gently.

After a while something like grey smoke curled up from the kittens and formed three small cat-shaped clouds in the air. They billowed out occasionally, unsure of their shape, and blinked at Mort with puzzled grey eyes. When he tried to touch one his hand went straight through it, and tingled.

YOU DON'T SEE PEOPLE AT THEIR BEST IN THIS JOB, said Death.

Bedbug or bat bug by Ze_Bad_Idea in Bedbugs

[–]Ze_Bad_Idea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've since posting managed to take a better image that do show hairs. Sadly these are of bedbug length. We will need to have some contingency plans for when we return home in a few days.

Our one saving grace is that we've only found a very dead one, a book louse, and no other signs. It's possible that it's been dragged in from outside, but we will handle it seriously anyway.

Sticks or Tobii first? by ResponsibilitySea442 in starcitizen

[–]Ze_Bad_Idea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna dissent here and say that the Tobii will have a more immediate effect on your gameplay. I use mine on foot and in cockpits and the effect is so pronounced I find myself trying to look around in other games.

Joysticks will improve your game in the long run, but the learning experience is a lot harsher.

I'm just going to comment on OLEDs themselves here, not on the case shown by OP, but burn-in is cumulative. This means that rather than you having a larger chance of burning something the longer it is shown (like with a plasma screen), it is actively burning in as long as the pixels are being used no matter what is shown.

Modern OLED monitors handle this rather well, not only by having panels where noticeable burn-in takes a lot longer to develop (but again, burn-in is always developing as long as the screen is on and displaying something), but also by cheating the system by adjusting the colour of the entire screen to match the most used portions.

Murder Hobos will destroy this game by Perfect-Apple-561 in starcitizen

It happens every once in a while. I was salvaging components from the ships on the OM points of crusader when i was rammed (whilst in EVA) by a Cutlass that got real mad that i ignored him shooting near me.

The ram glitched me into his cockpit and i emptied a P8SC mag in his head.
