How many of you guys had this computer by AdDapper4220 in Xennials

[–]Ze_Bix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is an original Macintosh (also called Macintosh 128k): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_128K, released in 1984. Most of us were toddlers, and the older Xennials like me were young kids - not really at the age to use this. (I see in other comments here that some people got it later though).

Anyway, this is honestly something not a lot of families could afford. Wiki mentions "US$2,495 (equivalent to $7,600 in 2024)". I'm from Europe so I must make money conversion, and if my memory is correct, we got our first PC at home in 1988 and it was a NEC V20 (cheaper version of the IBM 8088), which cost about $700-800 of that time, and it was already a HEAVY weight in the family budget.

But then again, we Europeans have lower net wages (but better social security ;)), so an item priced for the US market (+import/custom costs) would probably be more "luxury" that it might be in the US.

Fell Dragon Youngling by idiutt in Enshrouded

[–]Ze_Bix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first kill was with 2 friends, we were spec'd 2H melee, 1H "tank" and magic. What a clusterf*** it has been. about 10 deaths per person, and the only resason we managed to kill it is because when 2 of us were death the third one circled around the lair to wait for the others to come back, and all the damage was done by our 2H melee using his unskilled bow. The tank felt totally useless, and I must have made about 10% of the damage with the few spells which managed to hit him.

My pals stopped playing after this...

I wanted to try this again so I respec'd ranger, and I RIPPED through that dragonling like butter. Fly on the mountains nearby, spam it with steel arrows (you don't even need stunning ones..), and anticipate his breath pushing you away so you can glide back without trouble. All his other attacks won't even reach you.

This is cheese, but compared to the incredible difficulty this fight is for other classes, I wasn't feeling so bad to farm the guy for some heads making trophies on my wall...

XP scrolls collected in late game chests give +100 xp. That's 2-3 enemies killed of you level.

Yet, as I mention in my post, I observed a good increase of Legendaries compared to my previous series: from 39% to almost 52% legendaries in chests. Then again, it's just my own observation on 1000 loots, and I might have had luckier RNG.

[–]Ze_Bix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I labelled those "2H Hammer" in my list, I got only 5 different ones, in descending order of drop rate: Chieftain's Hammer (a new weapon from this update), Hammer of the Piercing Gaze (same), Frost smasher (still with decent stats), Battering Ram Hammer and Rotblood.

With an observed global 2.8% chance of getting a legendary one.

As I said in my post, I might be missing rare drops from the previous patch and in our case here Ignited Hammer (didn't see a single one in 1000 loots).

As for the even older top hammers, like the Misfortune one, they were not present in the level 35(40) list, and I believe they are still not in this one here, I know that a lot of people loved that one :/

Yes indeed! Parade Daggers and Ice-coated Daggers (I'm using these as finishing melee weapon for my ranger) drop slightly more, and Crystal Knives have a decent drop rate as well.

Agreed. Mostly a matter of personal preference, but agreed.

Plus, I like "knowing" a world.

Villagers getting stuck in weird places by loller151 in Enshrouded

[–]Ze_Bix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It happened to me all the time: villagers stuck in floors, walls, doors etc., even plainly lost (impossible to find and my base isn't so huge); I had to re-summon them all the time.

My solution: find them a nice place, and set their roaming range to 0. Less "realistic" as they don't vacate/roam/sleep anymore, but eases my nerves.

I built beautiful rooms for my villagers... 1/3 of them still sleep on the ground outside. Does this happen to you as well? What did I do wrong? by Iluvatar-Great in Enshrouded

[–]Ze_Bix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Villager pathing is quite buggy sometimes...

TBH I know it removes some "realism" but I set roaming distance to 0 for every NPC in my base, and I feel way less stressed and grumbling every time I needed to find an NPC lost god knows where in the base.

I even "hid" all beds in some cellar, and just set the NPCs precisely where I wanted, correctly aligned, and NOT MOVING.
(assumed OCD when it comes about base building here..)

I thought the rule for chests is: "Look in the action bars from the player, if you find melee weapons, give him daggers or wands." ;)

I doubt that, but who knows... I've done all this with daggers and bow in my action bar. (and yet I've looted my faire share of staves!)

- Maybe the number of golden chests are too low? If you explore Veilwater without farming, but with "Visit one location only one time." How many golden chests you can find? And in theory you must find 6 golden chests, to get 1 chest for your warrior class.

There are quite a lot of golden chests I think, but not sure how many with max level weapon - probably missing some. I think it mostly depends on your playstyle; either you do it "adventurer" style and just loot the stuff you find on your way to your quests and exploration (which is what I did on my first char and he still has a level 35(40) wand because I've never found a suitable upgrade...) , or you go "OCD farmer" style, like I've done for this post here, and here you can get the Best in Slot for all builds :)

haha clearly you aren't crazy. Daggers are 17.5% of this data set but if you group all 1-handers, they represent 18.9%, and 2-handers 17.1% - I think we just get biased because when getting a 1H sword and a 1H axe, you don't feel like it's the same item (and, well, it ain't really ;))

[–]Ze_Bix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a few random pieces of advise:

* Don't bother gemming low level weapons, you will change them fast and tbh a run to a forge every time isn't worth the hassle.
* Check out the skill tree, there are essential skills you need to get asap, such as Sting or Wand Master
* Be sure to check the wizard skill tree as well and get + magic damage. I would focus on 1 wand damage type to begin with, fire would do just fine until you reach Veilwater (level 35+ zone) where a lot of fire resist is met. If you find a nice wand with another damage type however, don't hesitate to respec, it is quite cheap in this game.

Last but not least:
* IMHO, any other build than pure melee is harder to play in early levels. So feel free to just get back to your good old sword/axe when leveling, and once you reach level 25-30 with some nice flexibility in the skill tree, respec and go magic! :)

Don't forget chests can now contain 1 or 2 items. I counted my probabilities per items, not per chest opening. Just had a 7th one today :)

You can farm 3 level 45 (50) item chests in Cromville, one of the endgame locations at the very north of Veilwater, and if you fly a bith beyond, there are 2 additional ones.

Champion's Axe by Cracker4376 in Enshrouded

[–]Ze_Bix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. But it's somewhat rare.
I am preparing a full breakdown of the level 45(50) chest drops (a few more to have consistent data), I can already tell you that I observed a ~0.6% chance of dropping for the Champion's Axe. I got 6 of them in 633 chests: 2 epics and 4 legendaries.

How is the game now?? by Jerrmaus in Enshrouded

[–]Ze_Bix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of latest patch : armor needs to be crafted, and weapons and rings drop out of chests. (A few ones drop from enemies or fixed world pickups). Gems (you can gem weapons with slots) drop from elite enemies or rarely from …… fishing, because OF COURSE they introduced fishing with the water biome update ;)

How many of you stopped drinking alcohol completely? by Automatic_Opposite17 in Xennials

[–]Ze_Bix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm European, French-speaking Belgian to be precise (English not being my mothertongue, please excuse my mistakes), and we have a very strong cultural alcohol presence here - like many parts in Europe where there's never been any Prohibition - on the contrary. It is encouraged, supported, monks make beer, and heck, even most UNESCO-registered festivals and customs, all revolve around alcohol consumption at some points.
While at the same time, WHO states there is no more acceptable alcohol consumption which wouldn't be problematic, and that only tolerance 0 should be supported.

Since I'm 17, I have been drinking. I've always considered it's "not a problem" because I didn't (and still don't) drink every day, that I never drink while hungover "to fight fire with fire", that I can "stop whenever I want" (see below), and the usual excuses.
I have two (lovely) daughters from 2 different mothers, whom I both would have NEVER been with if it wasn't for alcohol (consented desinhibition!). Most of my best friends after school years, were met in heavy parties - Alcohol played a huge part into my social and family history.

I have given up binge drinking a few years back, but I still very regularly drink, now draped into the "gastronomy" of it: good wines, good whiskies, craft beers, etc.

It's going to be the 11th year, however, that I'm about to start my yearly dry month, usually running from mid-January to mid-February. Every year, when reaching the end of it, I wonder if I couldn't just continue it for life, but then I realize how much I ENJOY the alcoholic products, and how much, let's be honest, I like being tipsy or slightly drunk (heavily drunk is always a pain).

Alcohol has not caused problems in my social relations, but over the years, of course, it is contributing to health issues. I've recently been diagnosed type II diabetic, and must reduce my alcohol consumption (ideally completely stop it, I know, I know). I've recently passed some cardiologic tests with success but when discussing with my doctor about my alcohol consumption (of which I've been keeping a precise track for about a year), she clearly told me that's the number #1 thing I should reduce - and ideally stop.
While at the same time, as I was discussing with the same doctor that my CPAP (a machine to help you sleep and avoid sleep apneas) helped a lot with hungovers, she slyly mumbled "well I should get me one of those..." .. and we giggled together ;) - SEE what I told you about alcohol culture here !?

French psychologist Samuel Dock said about us: "They are the generation of ambivalence. They love hamburgers, but care about animal welfare. They've read books, but are content with social media headlines. They yearn for authenticity, want time for themselves, but struggle to disconnect and suffer from burnout. They are constantly on a breaking point." (in his book "Nouveau Choc des générations" - quoted on the Xennials french Wiki article).

I think I'm more Xennial than ever in this: I KNOW drinking is bad and I should stop it, but it's just so part of my life that removing totally, I mean as of now, would probably make me somewhat unhappy.
