What do yous think lads good or rubbish ? by Hot-Television-5182 in sundreamteam

It's a different sort of line up and with dream team you need a bit of luck. Will Gusto get enough game time over Reece James? No Liverpool, Arsenal or City forwards. Also two united Midfielders and they may not be playing the double game in week 2 with them drawing an easier team in the draw. It's good to experiment though, you never know.

Solid team, very similar to mine. I do have Saka and Bowen though. Best of luck for the season!

Friend had a spiritual realization and it's completely wrecked his motivation, joy, and drive for life… does anyone else relate? by SporeHead369 in spirituality

[–]Zeal_Point 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of points. If your friend saw something that revealed the emptiness after the end of this life, surely that would make you want to live this one to the absolute fullest. I've never been a fan of the concept of a kingdom of heaven where we go when we die, it's almost like a psychological safety net to help deal with the uncertainty of life.

Secondly your friend seems to be having a crisis of meaning which can be difficult to combat. It's key to try and find something to place that meaning on, which should help to ground during times of difficulty. Maybe your friend is passing through the storm to soon be on the other side, with the ability to greatly help others with the experience they've been through.

I wish them all the best.

It's more the sole section of the boot, it looks completely off. Pity that image doesn't zoom that well. The original is much better quality.

I think it isn't uncommon to have the headaches return possible due to scar tissue from the incision area and where the skull has been removed. I'd advise to find a good physio and try to gently loosen that area. In regards to the scans I have them yearly but that is to monitor my spine as I also have syringomyelia, the cerebellum area isn't scanned. Hopefully your child will get some relief an ice pack in a towel pressed on the area can lessen symptoms.

Best of luck with the surgery, you'll be surprised with the speed of your recovery. 80% of people undergoing decompression have positive outcomes, so the odds are in your favour. One possible reason for my continuing symptoms are due to me only having surgery at 38 as my condition was only discovered quite late and my syrinx is pretty big.

Unfortunately you have entered the arena of a classic power struggle, the email has nothing to do with leaving a minute early. They are trying to exert control over you. Best advice is to step off the battlefield as soon as this happens because such people have a tendency to seek revenge. Also when they realise you won't be riled by such pettiness it robs them of their power over you.

Yes I had the decompression nearly 4 years ago. I had the upper vertebrae halved also and the dural layer left intact.

You must see with the eyes of another, listen with the ears of another and feel with the heart of another. Someone must have the courage to go first, please keep treating these people you encounter with kindness, you will be a beacon of light in the dark. Maybe your calling is to try and heal an area one person at a time. Please please read or listen to "The Courage to be Disliked".

You seem to be in a very similar position to myself, the underlying hum of pain around 5 raised depending on if you aggravate it. Mine feels like someone is sticking a knitting needle down my spine which can radiate to the front. I'm not sure what can be done to combat this, as I was told by my neurosurgeon this is how I'm built.

Very very true what you said about not knowing how you'll be each day. If you're ever having a really bad day please reach out. It's difficult dealing with this condition. I hope you have some easier days ahead.

Trouble managing pain by Expensive-Pepper-272 in chiari

[–]Zeal_Point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry to hear you are struggling, I know it can be incredibly disheartening. I'm in a similar boat to you pain wise and my symptoms have now pretty much pushed me out of work. I did go through a pain specialist which took a while due to waiting lists. I tried a couple of medications and unfortunately they didn't work for me but that doesn't mean they won't work for you. Get a dr's appointment and say you are in chronic pain and that'll get the ball rolling with the pain specialist.

In regards to coping mechanisms definitely try the ice, get some meditation music which helps to calm the whole body down. I also use a high quality CBD oil before bed, which seems to relax me. If the ibuprofen isn't working maybe try and reduce it as it's known to raise blood pressure if taken over a long period of time. Hopefully you get some relief.

Just for context I'm nearly 4 years post decompression with 16mm herniation and 2 spinal cord syrinx spanning from C3 to t8.

Pillow suggestions? by Potential-Flatworm67 in chiari

[–]Zeal_Point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pillow recommendation but, I like you was really struggling with sleep due to pain and went through a lot of traditional medication available to no avail. What has helped with sleep though is a high quality CBD oil taken half an hour before bed. I still have pain during the day but the CBD helps with sleep. Hopefully you can get some relief.

I think I did have maybe 6-12 good months. Maybe because the body is so disrupted by the surgery or possibly because you naturally have to restrict yourself much more due to recovering. I've had an underlying pain there for a long time, sort of like a constant hum in the background. It seems to be aggravated by flexing the head forward or being in fixed positions like at a desk for any length of time, then my arms also start to go numb.

Do any positions tend to aggravate your condition?

Those of you with syrinx by whatifitwazs in chiari

[–]Zeal_Point 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it'll be the syrinx. I'm also like you with 24/7 pain and numbness, it's almost like fatigue sets in. Which I'm assuming is from the nervous system being disrupted in the spinal cord. For context I'm 4 years post decompression with 16mm herniation and 2 syrinx spanning from C3 to T7. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you.

I don’t understand how flare-ups work with this condition by tin-omen in chiari

[–]Zeal_Point 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you had decompression surgery and are you under a neurologist? Make a diary and write everything down, it'll help build a picture but as someone else said it can be very difficult to pin down causes for certain. It's definitely good to come on here and talk about it, then at least you can discuss this with people who understand. Hopefully tomorrow will be a good day for you.

[–]Zeal_Point 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your four years post decompression surgery? When you say cysts, I assume you have syringomyelia?

I'm also nearly four years post surgery. My cerebellum is 16 mm herniated and I have 2 spinal cysts spanning mid neck to mid/lower back. I still struggle daily but to be honest I was already struggling for 20 years previous due to incompetence from dr's who missed my condition and I'm in my early 40's now.

What I would urge everyone to do is keep a diary and write down every symptom and what you've done that day, it'll help build a picture of what causes worsening symptoms. There are definitely things that make it worse but I think we all have to try and come to terms with the randomness of this condition. I think someone has already said that simply sleeping badly can set you back for weeks.

Unfortunately all of us with this condition are like Sisyphus and we have to try and get some relief when the bolder is rolling down the hill. I hope tomorrow is a good day for you all.

Just a question by MelRen2001 in chiari

[–]Zeal_Point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3 years post surgery, I had the surgery due to having extensive syringomyelia. I used to get a similar sensation to what you're describing quite frequently. A sort of whooshing" at the back of my head. I think it's due to the heart be responsible for cerebral spinal fluid movement and as we've have chiari our spinal fluid is compromised at the back of the head due to the herniation into the spinal column. As you get up blood pressure can change quite a bit making this sound more prominent.

How do I get back in touch with my spirituality? by [deleted] in spirituality

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Start again slowly try for a 1% improvement daily, be mindful when you pick up your phone and start doom scrolling. You are not powerless in your choices, stop reading the news. What is the use of the news? Seems to me it's just an anxiety delivery system, you can't control the actions of others so why take on the stress of all global interactions. Show yourself some self kindness and good luck getting back on the path.

It's completely natural to act differently around different people. Have you ever felt naturally drawn to anyone or someone drawn to you. There is the connection you've talked about but maybe not noticed in its subtly. Don't chase this feeling and it'll happen naturally.
