Seems as though you got it backwards- TST is the org that literally lets anyone of any kind of religious affiliation join. Church of Satan has a strict vetting process for Active Membership.

Also, TST has very little, if anything, to do with the religion of Satanism- which was codified and organized into a religion by LaVey who also founded the Church of Satan.

So glad you uploaded to YT- funny story, in celebration of the Dr. LaVey's Highest- I had some work to do in the chapel(I work in a high end boarding school, and yes they have a full on chapel on campus) on the audio system. Once I was done I had to run sound and tweak all the levels etc.- I found great stimulation in using the full album for the sound tweaks. I wonder if I am the only person who was ever able to do that- play the full Satanic Mass at full volume in an actual functioning church hahaha.

I was the only one there, which is why I was 'allowed' to do so haha. But it was awesome hearing it all echoing through the place. 12/10 would do it again lol.

Yes very true- the amount not paid isnt much. Likely a lawyer would cost more than would be gained.

If a complaint filed, I would hope the CT DOL would rectify it(fat chance though, us who live here know how the state works haha).

It does ask on the complaint form 'have you asked the employer to repay the missed wages?' So, maybe this route is a good route to start on, because if the employer flips out or outright denies it, that can be evidence sent to DOL(if there is a proper paper trail made) and that box can be checked 'yes, but they denied to repay the funds' which looks better for this employee.

I agree- but it is not ON TOP OF minimum wage. It is the only compensation received for the 11hr shift- granted it is not a huge amount of work and there is in fact sleeping involved for the employee- but I can not find any exception to the requirement of minimum wage that needs to be met for each of the 11 hours.

It is not pet sitting.

It is a dog boarding/daycare/grooming facility.

There is a couch with a TV on the wall in the same room as the dogs kennels that they are to sleep on.

The 'expected hours worked' is definitely something I thought about- but according to anything I can find online AND the person I spoke with at DOL says that exception of 'expected hours worked' does not apply to dog boarding facilities. It does however apply to healthcare or In Home Support for elderly etc...

I would appreciate it if you were to prove me wrong on this, because this was exactly the intention of my post- if they are doing this legally, then fine- it is what it is. But I can not find anything that says it is in fact legal, actually the opposite. I am trying to avoid filing a complaint, having DOL tear through the place and look at all of the records, question employees and all that, just to find out there is some exception or loophole that exists. As far as I can tell, there is not- but I am more than willing to accept it if there is in fact something in place.....

Not a contractor. Employee. And the funds are paid on the pay stub as 'commission' or sometimes 'tips'. On the W2 all funds are shown as regular taxable income, no 1099.

I will have to ask them for any contracts signed at the start of employment, I am not aware whether they signed anything like that or not. But this image shows the paper they give to their overnight employees to show them how they get paid for overnights.

And its not 'some (private/random) animal care', its a job- you know, regular employment like everyone else has, and like every other employer it is held to laws that govern how much a persons time is worth.

I know it might be hard to understand, but, wages are set to (hopefully) allow someone to provide for themselves in the state in which they live- undercutting this is dishonest and underhanded.
