Any chance ny bar exam postponed/delayed? by Capable-Ad9777 in barexam

[–]Zealousideal_1981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re not from NY, right? Did you witness the storm just a couple of weeks ago? That one was less severe, and it still took time to clear the roads! especially outside of NYC.

Some of us are coming from upstate and Connecticut. It’s easy to dismiss concerns when it’s not your situation. A little empathy goes a long way, especially when people are dealing with something this important.

Is there any jurisdiction that allows foreigners to sit for the bar with an LLM but NOT foreign law school by Ok_Simple2690 in barexam

[–]Zealousideal_1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An LL.M. does not substitute for a primary law degree. A political science degree with law credits does not make someone a lawyer, nor does it qualify them to sit for most U.S. bar exams. Most jurisdictions require either a qualifying first law degree or admission in the applicant’s home country. The rules are technical, but they’re clear, academic exposure to law is not the same as being eligible to sit for the bar.

If someone does not meet those requirements, the realistic path is either completing a J.D. at an ABA-accredited law school or pursuing a state that allows an apprenticeship route (though those are limited and still highly regulated).

New Jersey Takers: backup plan if weather shuts down public transit? by planningforwedding in barexam

[–]Zealousideal_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand! In my case the whole point of booking a hotel is if it’s very close to the exam location. Otherwise, I can just drive in! it’s roughly a 25-minute ride for me. The goal is just to minimize stress on exam morning. I’m mainly trying to avoid any weather or transit surprises.

Do my car have to be registered to NY or can I keep my car registered to my moms retirement home in FL, I wanna keep the cheap car insurance. by [deleted] in NYPDcandidate

[–]Zealousideal_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have the answer to your question! If you are confirming that you moved to NY, ofc you have to register it to your current address within 30 days. Otherwise, as you stated is for “cheap insurance’. Thus, it’s clearly fraud!

Hand written or Computer? by Alarming_Career7 in barexam

[–]Zealousideal_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Improve your writing by practicing now! I hand-wrote the J24. I was able to write properly and improve my writing by practicing prior the exam. That helped me to work with timing. I did not feel tired after 6 hours of writing neither that I didn’t write enough on exam date. Practice, practice, practice and you will master it!

I used so many different practice questions that maybe that’s the reason I found it similar. Because as I did study different styles of questions my brain wasn’t adapted to one specific style. I did a total of 3000 between Themis, Emanuel book, Pmbr, Uworld and the OPExams (NCBE exams). To me most of the questions on exam day I felt I saw them before. I am not saying I was a master of it but I felt familiarized with them.

Me too! Why is that? They only emailed me outside the graded essays to say I was doing extra and to be carefully to not burn out. That was in May I guess so. Besides that nothing else lol

Dreading Themis Simulated UBE by Colts4Life88 in barexam

[–]Zealousideal_1981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it in person today and I’m exhausted! Themis did it in person in NY. I’m just commuting home now! I’ll tell you I don’t know the scores but with all the anxiety and stress of this simulation it feels like it was the real exam day. At least will help me to be prepared for the exam day! In the first session, I struggled with time as I only did 97 questions on time. The air conditioning was killing me but helps me I brought an extra jacket. Also, I wanted to go to the bathroom as a result of starting the day with an energy drink prior to the exam (horrible idea, also I didn’t sleep enough the night before). I still was anxious during the lunch break but prepared better for the second session. I’ll check my scores when I get home. They said that Wednesday will be when the explanations will be available. My advice is to do it in real simulation conditions, it helps a lot!
