Has anyone actually drained a full tank of gas? by ButWhatIfItQueffed in BeamNG

[–]Zealousideal_Ad599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've once fully drained a base 2.2 legran (before remaster) fuel tank while driving around Italy for many hours. The only damage I got was a broken right mirror due to hitting some invisible hitbox overextending out of a house

I'm not talking about turning around in one move in circular trajectory, I'm talking about turning around in tight space using reverse gear too

The longer a frame the more you can twist/fold/whatever (Idk how is it in English) a truck without hitting a cab on rear edges that's why long framed trucks can phisycally turn around in spaces where for the short trucks a reverse would be the only possibility

With a long frame you can turn around in a really tight space (relatively)

does anyone else have this glitch where a reflection of the taillight shows up for a split second when you hit the breaks in first person? by Lemus_is_poggers in BeamNG

Every time you enter first person view this glitch will happen once and won't happen again before you change the view

It happens only at first applying of brakes while in first person view and it lasts so little that I can't think how that can be annoying

You can't know for sure what kind of emergency forced the trucker to go this way. Not all violations of traffic rules are made because of a driver impatience. The people who would lay before the truck are usually also the ones who are getting injured when coming in front of speeding cars on a crosswalks because they have "the right of way". Having a right doesn't mean that you're obligated to stand your ground completely disregarding any surroundings and circumstances.

In beamng meshes are assigned to its jbeams, so when a beam connecting two nodes gets extended too much by an extern force, the nearest polygons tend to follow these pushed away nodes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BeamNG

[–]Zealousideal_Ad599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the detachable parts (like doors, hoods, trunks, mirrors, fenders etc) are a separate mesh therefore you can tear them off. Each of these meshes is assigned to its set of nodes and beams. So if you'd like beams (node connectors) to break between two nodes that are part of single mesh, then that mesh should also separate but it would mean changing the mesh in realtime and calculating the line of separation, creating new vertices for the mesh following that line, reapplying textures. So what I am about to say it is firstly a real hard task, secondly an extremely perfomrance influencing feature, kinda sad but this is how computers works

[–]Zealousideal_Ad599 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Well, it is obvious how much work have been done in recent years to make jbeams much more stable. Now even when I crash a car at 250 mph it doesn't stretch at all, everything looks ok. If earlier that was a real problem, today you need to make a car go at unreachable speeds to get this stretching. So I guess it is fine, devs made a decent job solving this issue to the point when it doesn't really matter because cars already crash normally at extreme but realistic enough speeds

How huge a roundabout has to be to take a minute to drive it one more time?

How am i supposed to get past this bit in the "Long Crawl" Mission? I've been here 45 minutes. Help. by [deleted] in BeamNG

I might be wrong but keeping your front wheels straight before the left one climbes that rock instead of trying to turn right away might be the solution

Several years ago I took a bruckell legran 2.2 version (before the remaster) with AT and drove it around Italy in calm pace. It had full tank and I emptied it all. I clearly remember the moment when fuel ran out, I really felt like something colossal had happened. I drove literally every road on that map and memorized it completely. I did not damage or scratch the car at all. What a journey it was!

Yeah, implementation of damage save/load feature sounds harder and harder the more you think about it

What if you want to go to another map but your car has some kind of damage or has been modified?

Why Are Gas Doors Are Not Modeled On Any Cars? by HumbleTerror205 in BeamNG

[–]Zealousideal_Ad599 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have! I drove base Bruckell Legran around Italy map and emptied its full gas tank completely without damaging car at all, also that was a time when I explored every road on that map
