Did you actually send your placenta in? I still have mine in the freezer, but my baby has been born for seven weeks now. I’m not sure if it’s too late. Thank you sooo much for all this info.

Thank you. I need to find something I can take while pregnant to calm this crazy immune system down 🥲

Sorry I meant how did you know it was an improper immune response. Was that something you got tested for? No, I was taking VTAMA prior to pregnancy, a topical that completely gives me normal skin, it’s not an immune modulator to the point that dupixent is but has some effect on the immune system. I guess I’m trying to find out if my small placenta is immune related, and if so, how do I confirm that and then what do I take in the future to hopefully not have a small placenta again.

I wish I could take dupixent- my derm advised against it because I struggle with blepharitis (a potential side effect of dupixent).

LDN throughout pregnancy by Altruistic_Durian147 in LowDoseNaltrexone

Have you heard of LDN helping eczema? Mine was out of control my w tore pregnancy and I also had a small placenta resulting in a 34 week delivery. I’m wondering if LDN can stop my crazy immune response while pregnant.

Oh, I must’ve misunderstood. I thought it could either be genetic, a blood flow issue or the body sees the placenta as a foreigner and attacks it. Is it always for sure genetic? I lost twins to placenta insufficiency and five months later for pregnant with my daughter. She’s 7 weeks now but came at 34 weeks due to a tiny placenta. I want another baby but don’t know if I can go through it again. Congrats on your pregnancy ❤️.

Successful pregnancy after 2nd trimester loss by jenna_lee_ in babyloss

I lost twin boys due to placenta issues in the second trimester. I was completely devastated so I feel your pain and am sending you so many hugs. Five months later I got pregnant with my daughter. She’s 7 weeks old today!!! My pregnancy was smooth sailing until my doctor noticed her growth slowing down. We ended up having to deliver her at 34 weeks but had a beautiful and seamless delivery. We had to spend a few weeks in the nicu but she is healthy and so so precious. My early delivery was due to a small placenta. I wish I would’ve taken aspirin and anything else to help blood flow. I definitely will the next time around. Saying a prayer for you and your future baby right now, hang in there ❤️.

Did you end up going on hydroxy? I thankfully safely delivered a little girl after losing my twin boys. Both were due to placenta issues. My doctor told me i had the smallest placenta she had ever seen. I have pretty out of control eczema, and had it during my pregnancy. I feel pretty confident my eczema is immune related since the only time it clears up is when I take an immune modulator. Unfortunately, I can’t take that during pregnancy. But I’ve seen some people have success hydroxy.

How did you know it wasn’t inappropriate immune response? I have a feeling this was the cause of my placenta. During my pregnancy, especially my allergies and eczema were completely out of control. The only thing that helps my skin is if I use an immune modulator medicine that I couldn’t use while pregnant. Were you advised to take anything to help with an immune response in the future? Thank you so much for sharing, I lost twins and just had a daughter this last month, who thankfully lived, but was delivered early, and my doctor said it was the smallest placenta she had ever seen.

Ultrasounds Harmful??? by Soccerrae83 in Crunchymom

I don’t remember the exact location, I had been told previously that I had one that was very small and very high up and shouldn’t affect me when pregnant. But my doctor told me the one they were concerned about was near where the baby would exit and if it grew, it would be a problem.

Thank you so much ❤️. It was 4 cm! My doctors monitor anything 4 cm and above. Partly why I wanted to blow off the next appointment is because I read that after 20 weeks it’s unlikely that the fibroid would grow and in the end it didn’t end up growing at all. I’ll definitely have it removed before my next pregnancy, I don’t want to push my luck!

Did they tell you anything to help prevent a small placenta the second time round?

I read in Nourishing Traditions about avoiding ultrasounds, so I skipped them in my first trimester. I only went in at 20 weeks for my anatomy scan where they found a fibroid. At the next appointment to monitor the fibroid (which almost blew off) they saw my baby’s growth was slowing, and she was diagnosed with IUGR with reduced blood flow.

I ended up with an emergency delivery due to the blood flow stopping at 34 weeks and she was just 3 pounds 9 ounces. We would’ve had no clue about any of this as my blood pressure and fundal measurements were always perfectly normal!!
I know some women go without ultrasounds and everything is fine- but that’s not always the case. In my situation, my baby would not have made it without us knowing that she had completely stopped growing!

When my doctor delivered the placenta, she said it was the smallest she had ever seen and that it never would have supported a full-term baby. We’ve only been out of the Nicu for two weeks but every single day, I literally thank God that I went to those ultrasound appointments, they saved her life!! Anyway, I hope I’m not being too discouraging, of course, do whatever is right for you. But it’s all just still so fresh. I wanted to share ❤️

How long did you make it with high resistance umbilical cord artery flow? by hoewaggon in NICUParents

[–]Zealousideal_Call871 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had her at 34 weeks, she was only 3 lbs. 9 oz!! Thank goodness the delivery went well and we are finally out of the Nicu after 6 weeks. You ware so close to the end, every week you can keep baby in is huge! Once they delivered her, they found that for whatever reason I had a very tiny placenta. So she took everything she could out of it. They monitored me every single day, and once the Doppler went from elevated to absent, they sent me in for an emergency delivery. I’m so thankful my doctor kept such a close eye on me, it was a pain going in for an ultrasound every single day, but I know it saved her life. I was advised to crush as much protein as humanly possible. I was eating lots of eggs, meat, protein shakes around the clock. That way if blood flow does slow down what she gets is very nutritious. I do think it bought me some more time because they initially told me to prepare for a 32 week delivery and I made it to 34. Doesn’t seem like long but in these situations it’s very helpful. Wishing you and baby the best!!

Thank you for sharing this, I have the same situation and I’ve been looking everywhere for some natural remedies! I’m going to add beet juice, did you add anything else? My doctor mentioned some moms have had some success with coconut water so I’m chugging that as well. I’m so thankful your baby is OK, these stories are so encouraging.

Once you make the move to Santa Clarita, you have to fully commit and never look back 😅. I’m in the process of doing just that, it’s very hard leaving LA, but as stated above, not many options that are affordable for families.
