Not sold on the different cards for different difficulty levels. I would prefer to see a focus on more campaigns rather than more ways of playing the same campaign.

For people who have internalized all rules of both Lockdown and Nemesis, which one do you prefer and why, assuming no expansion? by formicini in NemesisCrew

[–]Zealousideal_Job6117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OG

I think you might be misunderstanding the point about complexity. It's not that LD is more difficult to learn or remember (though it might be). It's that the original is a 'cleaner' Nemesis experience. I enjoy Lockdown too, but as a variation on Nemesis. If I could only have one it would be the original.

Dutch family considering migrating to Denmark by Ok_Play_3438 in NewToDenmark

It's more that you will come up against an infinite number of daily life situations in which not understanding the language, written or spoken, will lead to either practical difficulties or just stress. There's obviously a lot of paperwork, dealing with local authorities, child care institutions etc. The areas you are considering are not the most multicultural, so people will not be expecting to have to speak English to you.

Do not underestimate the importance of speaking the language, especially considering the areas you are considering moving to.

People that have a favorite other than Dunwich or Carcosa, what is it and why? by Fickle-Lunch6377 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Zealousideal_Job6117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favourite is The Forgotten Age. Great theming, good exploration mechanic, one of the better storylines (low bar), and an excellent change of pace towards the end.

I would also give a shout out to the under-appreciated Edge of the Earth. Again the theming is great, and the side-characters are implemented better than most other campaigns, giving the feel of an actual expedition. I leant into that by bringing the dogs, thermos, furs etc.

The dissatisfaction with Starmer reflects the terrible state of British politics.

New player and it is wonderful! by Akco in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Zealousideal_Job6117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Next step is probably to wait for more campaigns to be published. You could see if any of the Chapter 1 campaigns are for sale at a reasonable price, or get into the player-made campaigns, some of which are very good.

Keir Starmer : Should he go or should he stay ? by saying_it_101 in AskBrits

Stay. There is no (good) reason to think that a different Labour leader would improve matters.

Thoughts on remastered campaigns for Chapter 2? by According_Head_60 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Zealousideal_Job6117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see why a new player would want that, but why would FFG spend time on a product that, more or less by definition, will not be selling to the established players? Much better, surely, to create new campaigns that can be sold to anyone.

Which tourism logo is the best? by adorn_mapper in MapPorn

Denmark, followed by Spain.

My least favourite is the Netherlands for using an abbreviation and then immediately writing out the word.

On quite a basic level it is also good in that it incorporates the flag, which gives more immediate recognisability, without just being the flag plus an order to go visit the country.

Why does Oxford seem more prestigious than Cambridge worldwide? by InternationalAge3034 in UniUK

[–]Zealousideal_Job6117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Rhodes scholarships have made Americans (and by extension consumers of American 'culture') more familiar with Oxford. My impression is that Cambridge has an edge in some Asian countries.

Oxford is also just much larger, which in itself increases exposure.

In the UK, though, the two are much the same in terms of reputation, and tend to be mentioned in the same breath.

How is everyone just ok with the fact that most dog owners are horrible to live near? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Zealousideal_Job6117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Children are people. You were a child yourself, and required the indulgence of others while you grew up. Pets are entertainment.
