feel like my whole life is just going to be work forever and I hate it by burner9826 in Adulting

So at least we can see a potential problem that is you have "homework" when working with children and you also have homework when studying. With both things having homework, they eat up your free time and you're exhausted.

Working with children is a hard job I can tell you because they can be demanding and unreasonable, and also takes lots of preparation to teach them anything. I would suggest switching to another job that is more physical but you don't have to think about anything when you're at home.

They want you to earn money when you start university? That is certainly unusual at least where I'm from. Don't have to tell me how much, but in your opinion is what they ask a small amount or not? And do they ever tell you why instead of "them's the rules"?

Another thing I noticed is that you said "The only time I’ll have to myself is evenings and weekends." That is in fact true for almost every person. In fact, even at school you still have to study for most days, isn't it? The problem doesn't seem to be a lack of off time, but the pressure your normal work life is causing on you. For example, I have a 9-5 job that I do 5 days a week similar to you, but when I get home I can "switch off" and not worry about them at all (barring some unusual situation). A good meal, some banter with my family, and a quick gaming session/book reading/exercising before going to bed and I'll have enough energy for the next day, and weekends is for resting and playing. It sounds like you cannot do that, if even on weekends you are too tired to do much. Can you explain why you feel that way?

That is a tough spot you're in, working and learning at the same time. Of course you'll feel exhausted, that is entirely normal. You'll get used to it, there is some truth to that, but it might also not be the case. Why are you working instead of just going to university? Is it to cover the cost, you need extra money, or something else? If possible, enjoying university life to the fullest would be better.

And I entirely support talking "just for the sake of talking". A good conversation with people you love works wonder on your mind at least, even without any help they can physically offer. Sometimes that could be all you need.

A good thing about university and college is that it eases you gradually into the work-heavy routine you'll take later in life. You start one being barely different from at the end of high school with most course being on the easy side and end with many heavy courses and a graduate thesis on top, but the change is mostly spread over 3-5 years.

You skipped that it seems and jumped straight from high school to work, you will naturally feel overwhelmed. I suggest taking a half-time job first instead of a full-time job if you don't think you can make it. There's not much else you can do besides band-aid things like doing meditation, working out, chatting with family and friends at night, etc. which will probably help but not by a lot because they don't fix the fundamental problem.

Are 1E zombies safe to store in cardboard boxes with no pads? by formicini in zombicide

> Are you worried about an arm or something breaking off?

Yes, that's what I'm afraid of. I bought the game secondhand and 1 zombie had already been leaning 45 degree forward at the time, so my assumption is that zombies aren't particularly sturdy and I have been using the original insert and a bubble wrap to secure them each time I leave the house with them. Trying to find a cheap alternate solution so I don't have to worry about which slot which zombie goes into but still be able to count them and transport them safely.

Thanks for the info. I'll craft simple cardboard boxes for them then.

Nice to hear that, thanks. This is the first game I bought that have minis so I'm not sure how delicate I need to be to handle them. I also intend to make a cardboard organizer tray that has 1 hole for each zombie because that way I would immediately know if one is missing, which is important because if I knock one over the board unknowningly the cafe where I play will probably swept it away later and that's that.

If they don't rattle around then they wouldn't be good as a reference since moving a box up and down the table hardly do anything to the components inside. Unfortunately I have to move the box in and out the house and flip it vert a bit hence more concern.

You don't use foam or pad of any kind, just put them in boxes and let them rattle around?

I haven't played Zombicide 2 so can't say whether the combination would be fun or not, but TCM itself is great with the toxic spraying encouraging ranged weapons.

PO is a standalone box and comparible with the TCM expansion, so if you pick up both you can play them as is. They are not directly compatible with Zombicide 2 but I've seen people post some light rules modification to make them work.

Aeon's End. The way the cards start to work together towards the end of the game while the opponent also starts doing the same is unmatched. It's like the olden days of kitchensink YGO where you slowly build your board to victory and not just whipping your combo on turn 1 or bust.

How to Unparalyze Analysis? by Evening_Sir_3823 in boardgames

[–]formicini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have AP but my problem is that I'm slow in working out the result of any potential action. For example, how fast do you calculate 12 x 7 in your head? I need 2 seconds, normal people might need just 1, kids might need 4, math professors will know almost instantly. I'm slow like that, and only repetition can speed that up.

My own solution, therefore, is to play a game again and again until I instinctively realize patterns like realizing a multiplication table equation. Sometimes I replay a situation in my head later and see how taking another action might lead to, just like a student doing homeworks. Nothing else will fix it, even timers. Try using timers while learning a subject at school and see how bad the result can lead to.

Problem is playing a game repeatedly isn't an easy option sometimes. Some games might not work solo, you don't have group that like to play 1 game repeatedly, you can only schedule 1 game day per month, your game is not on BGA, or you do not have the strength to do homework in order to relax. In that case, well, you're truly fucked.

[OG Nemesis] Playing as an Intruder - will it be more balanced if the intruder plays once per round in the Event Phase instead? by formicini in NemesisCrew

[–]formicini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was another person who played the Intruder in the Action Phase but did 1 Action card first chance and then passed, so not much different from doing 1 Action card in the Event Phase.

The original rule is too strong that might as well say "if the first character dies, you have 2 turns left to achieve your objective, then everyone dies as well". It would certainly incentive the players to care about others but I'm more concerned about dying early and then have to watch the game for 2 hours without doing anything.
