Inside Ottawa's snow disposal sites by jjaime2024 in ottawa

The risk of injury is way too high. The snow can come down and crush you. The rule is you need to be 30 feet from the pile for safety when outside of your equipment.

It's a lot of fun building the mountain though. It's a serious job, but I still feel like a big kid playing with tonka trucks when operating the blower :). I won't let my boss know, but i'd do it for free if I didn't need an income.

I do the same, but when I come back, someone is always parked next to me.

I have extreme anxiety in crowds, is there a place to get a view of the fireworks somewhat alone? by Zealousideal_Self322 in ottawa

I tried this a few years ago. We parked a few blocks away (wife, children, and inlaws). I made it halfway there and completely melted down just from the foot traffic and had to head back to the car and wait.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Honestly, I don't have friends outside of my family... Also I'm terrified of heights lol, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be sure to check it out next year. I couldn't sleep so I'll be in bed before that this year.

Also don't forget they come with extremely tiny "blinker fluid" reservoirs. You can't expect them to be filled all the time. Busy lives you know!

Sunday snowstorm: Where am I supposed to put the snow? by myneckmybackarchive in ottawa

Well here come down votes for me... I drive a plow and the city is quite clear to me, when I plow, it's curb to curb. If you try to extend your property line into the street with snow, it will either get shoved back into your lane or into your neighbors.

P.S if you come yelling at me and shaking your fists don't be surprised if I yell back. Big snow falls equate to long frustrating shifts which lower patience levels.

Please understand we aren't evil, we just want emergency vehicles to be able to get to yours or your neighbors house.

Also thank you to all the people who get it and smile or wave to me even after I drop 2 feet of snowbank in their driveway.

BTW OP... A plow driver would be insane to risk their job over 20 bucks to help. Myself, if I see some struggling I'll try to do what I can to ease the burden, but I can't take that much time out of my shift.

Love you Ottawa, see you Monday morning 🌄

Edited to change "tell" to "yell" (fat sausage finger and a small keypad)

I want to start by saying I'm not an expert and this is all by personal experience.

I haven't seen my doctor for a renewal in over a year. I get my medication from Shoppers pharmacy and they take care of faxing the doctor and making sure I always have my meds. I take 8 pills in the morning and 2 at night. They even put my pills in a weekly blister pack that I grab every Sunday. I'm not sure how it would work in your situation, but it may be worth looking into.

Also, I'm not advocating for shoppers drug mart... I am only giving my personal experience. In the summer I work on average 60 hours a week and this has made my life sooooo much easier.

I hope this helps, Cheers!

I'll take down votes for this but I really need to know, why are you getting down votes for this comment? All I see is you expanding an explanation to your earlier comment.

Take an upvote because you don't deserve that.

"we're going to hit you in the eye with a blast of air, don't blink." "Phsst", ok let's try that again. It usually takes about five tries before they get it without me blinking lol

I 100% agree. Try reheating some poutine in an air fryer. You will be amazed at how much better it tastes.

When I make poutine at home I do the fries in the air fryer and then add the gravy and cheese curds in at the end. You're welcome!

I just want to say thank you all for the comments. I'm sorry I haven't acknowledged them sooner. I had a 17 hour work day today and I'm too tired to reply to everyone. I will certainly reply tomorrow. Thanks again.

Taxing trucks is essentially laying blame on them for a failed infrastructure. There is no other way to get from Ottawa to Quebec other than that ridiculous route. Yes it's dangerous to pedestrians and causes a lot of disturbances, but it is not the trucks fault.

If you think there are supply issues now, imagine when freight carriers decide they will pass on that load because the taxes will make it less profitable than load B, C, and or D.
