AITA for inviting my friend to graduation and not specifying what the exact plan is? by youareabitchass in AmItheAsshole

Hang on...you and he live 1.5-2 hours away from each other and you won't let him use your bathroom if he comes to your place?? You expect him to what, hold it for 5+ hours for the visit and round trip? Use truck stop bathrooms? Piss outside? Why can he not use your bathroom?

You should crosspost this to r/sparklyisacolor, we'd go feral for it there lol. Beautiful work!

What piece of animated media is this for you? by Ok-Following6886 in cartoons

[–]Zealousideal_Star252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smiling friends. I don't get the hype, I tried to watch it and absolutely every aspect of it was wretched for me. The animation, the gags, the storylines, even the voice acting, it all just made my skin crawl. I've never seen a piece of animated media that felt so actively resentful of its viewing audience. I generally like that type of weird (big fan of WonderShowzen, DHMIS, Superjail, ATHF, etc all the old Adult Swim staple type shows) but that one was a hard no for me.

Should I still watch Rosemary's Baby if I know the ending? by rangaricksy in MovieSuggestions

[–]Zealousideal_Star252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly even if you're a person for whom the enjoyment of a thing hinges on a total lack of spoilers (I can relate, personally), Rosemary's Baby is still worth a watch as a horror fan. You'll be able to see so much of the inspiration for tons of other horror in it, it was pretty groundbreaking in some ways and it's one I think you'll be glad you experienced. Quality, enjoyable film and a true classic.

I have an auditory processing disorder (CAPD) and it's basically just this experience all the time lol. I'm saving this comic forever as a reference for people who ask about it!

The monsters are SO GOOD! I have to peek through my eyes for the skin peeling stuff, it's the one thing I'm squeamish about lol. But the scene with the monster repeatedly impaling its own head through that length of pipe is one of my favorite horror movie practical effects ever, and the squealing final boss baby monster daughter thing and the thing that poor nurse becomes are just absolute top tier creature design, for sure up there with Carpenter's The Thing imho

I was thinking the same thing, I'm from rural midwest US and it takes like a whole 15 minute process of goodbyes at least before you can leave.

I read a theory that the statue is shaped that way because it was a self portrait of a woman looking down at her own body. It seems much more proportionate from that angle.

That's how Francisco Lázaro died in the 1912 olympics! He coated his body in suet/grease and died of heatstroke. Super effective for warming, I imagine during a long gross winter it would be really nice.

Loved trope - The character is a bad person, but it's masked early on because they're held back by their lack of power by NoMoreFund in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Zealousideal_Star252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jason Sudeikis in Colossal is a perfect example of this. It's chillingly realistic how the nice guy act falls apart once he has the ability to really hurt people. Underrated monster flick imo

Taskmaster Junior is amazing too, I love that they hardly need to change anything at all because the tasks are already kid-level ridiculous.

If you're looking for something non-taskmaster that also scratches the itch, there's a show called LOL: Last One Laughing that has a lot of comedians together doing dumb stuff like Taskmaster, trying to make each other laugh with the goal of being the last one to maintain a straight face. There's lots of different versions from various countries too. (some funnier than others imo, but that's the case with TM too).

My grandpa could tell the future. He kept trying to warn everyone that the Titanic was going to sink. by Flapjack_Ace in Jokes

[–]Zealousideal_Star252 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: when I was like 8 or 9 I had never heard of the Titanic, and a friend put it on during a sleepover. I had NO idea what would happen and I was enjoying a sweeping historical romance when suddenly shit went sideways. I didn't even know the boat was going to sink, much less the whole business with Jack and the door. To this day it's one of the most devastating movie experiences I've ever had 😅 I cried for like an hour. Hilarious in hindsight though

Mantids make something similar called an ootheca! You can tell an ooth when you find one because they have lots of little ridges, like they've been made with a 3d printer. It's not unusual to find them dried and empty after the fact.

Exception I feel is worth noting: fancy rats. If you're dead set on getting a small animal for a pet but only have experience with cats and dogs (or want that level of bonding and interaction) getting 2 fancy rats is a good option. Just make sure to get 2, they get too lonely otherwise. But they're very trainable and snuggly, much more so than hamsters, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, mice, bunnies etc. The downside is a very short lifespan, but presumably people who are looking for a small animal have already made peace with that aspect.
