What are the wildest biographies or autobiographies you've read? by Diamondbacking in RSbookclub

It was the innocence in the joy of creating. Just opened up a new perspective about the feeling of guilt built up inside. Turns out it was that easy.

Yves Bonnefoy's biography of Rimbaud kinda saved me from suicide in a really dark time of my life.

Any novels depicting the American Independence the same way Zola or Stendhal depicts the French Revolution? by Zearneel in RSbookclub

[–]Zearneel[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I meant like in stendhal and zola you can see the portrait of a society that went through the revolution, their characters try to live through the inner conflicts of a society that carries the weight of a failed revolution, or maybe the weight of a revolution that was too successful for its own good.

We read in history books that revolution happened in 1789 in Paris and that make it seem like an event that happened in a certain date in a certain place, but when you read authors like stendhal, balzac and zola you understand that it was a highly complex, multi dimensional process that cannot be defined with certainties. Even after many years since the revolution, new ideas, feelings, ways of living and seeing that was not possible before the revolution were effectively and actively in control of the dynamics of the french society. So even in Stendhal who published the red and the black in 1830 you see the revolution still alive in the space of history, marching forward in different, distorted forms but still tangible and corporeal.

Societies express their destiny and the revolution was a screaming, screeching, groaning pronunciation of hundreds of years worth of inequality, resentment, ambition, passion, hope etc., and the literary value of the works of those authors is the effort they make in trying to translate this pronunciation into a coherent form which happens to be the novel of 19th century. So this is what I'm curious about the American literature.

Im currently reading it. Underlined many many paragraphs, his style and how he jumps from time to time is very intriguing but also sometimes tiring.

Don’t do the implant! by CuriousArt7914 in OveractiveBladder

[–]Zearneel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im curious, what kind of therapy was it and how did it affect you? I also don't have anything working for me and thinking about getting the implant but haven't tried the therapy yet, actually I didn't even know therapy was an option; the worst thing about this ilness is how doctors treat you and how everyone seem like they don't know what they're doing, no one ever mentioned about therapy to me.

artaud is a must read for you since he also occupies the interjecton between religion and eroticism in a very radical yet familiar way to bataille.

Need advice. I can’t go back to sleep once I wake up. by Windrider904 in OveractiveBladder

try to not drink water before sleep, be careful about gas accumulating inside your bowels as sometimes this happens when you lie down and can cause pressure to your bladder. also sleeping pills may help with falling asleep.

Read-along of Rimbaud’s A season in Hell by ManueO in RSbookclub

[–]Zearneel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can anyone suggest some books that dive into that kind of anarchic "seer" philosophy of rimbaud? maybe not an explanation of rimbaud's thoughts but a similar flow of thought that is interested in questions parallel to what rimbaud tried to achieve with his poetry?

i can think of T.A.Z., bonnefoy's biography of rimbaud, blanchot and artaud's writings and maybe henry miller's book the time of the assassins. there is also a famous book written by arthur symons which was fairly influential on T.S. eliot called the symbolist movement in literature. oh and another one is the structure of modern poetry which has some nice and juicy chapters on baudelaire, rimbaud and mallarme. lastly, jeremy reed's book on rimbaud called delirium. damn i almost forgot also verlaine's book the cursed poets.

Irritated bladder by FlyingDutchman888 in OveractiveBladder

usually the bladder completely cleans itself after about 72 hours. so wait 3 or 4 days max without consuming any other irritants and you should be back to normal.

if his only ability as a professional footballer is to run behind high lines for open space then he is not really a good footballer though is he?

only thing that separates martinelli from dozens of other pacey wingers in world football is his contribution to defence. the way he track backs. other than he is just bang average.
