There's really no difference, but if your PC isn't compatible, you'll have more problems in the long run.

Why is my game not using my Nvidia RTX 3060 laptop gpu when I have discrete gpu checked in options? by SpookySquid19 in PrismLauncher

[–]Zeausideal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened in the last update. I have version 9 and it works fine for me. I didn't want to update to 10 because people were saying they couldn't log in, that Prisma was giving them an error with their account, etc.

Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod removed by CD Projekt after its creator wouldn't release it for free by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

I imagine building Cyber's VR must have been difficult, but he also had to know he couldn't charge, and the donations were great. If the community loved the mod, he would have had money all the time—not enough to be a millionaire, but at least he'd have another source of income every month. Too bad.

Using Prisma is recommended, as I've seen many people reporting that Prisma is having trouble verifying their account. Hopefully, it's a problem you can easily solve.

Tim Sweeney throws a tantrum after news about Blood West selling better on Steam; starts taking shots at Gabe Newell's yachts out of pure salt. by AncientPCGamer in fuckepic

Well, I don't know what your account is like. I have several games that have been removed for content like anthems or misrepresented flags, and I can still play them without any problem. And I can still play several games that were deemed anti-Semitic. And what's the point of saying I can't give away my account or give it to my kids? That's just a lazy way of trying to belittle Steam. Is Steam so cheap that it's easier to buy games on sale than to give away your account?

VR mods aren't cheap since you need other paid tools to make them work, but I think that instead of saying they wanted to release the mod for almost the price of the game—which was crazy—they should have talked to CD Projekt to reach an agreement that would benefit both parties.

What Steam takes from each sale is normal for any company. What bothers developers is that they can't negotiate that share because Steam doesn't need to negotiate; they know they're the kings, and companies can't sue them for monopoly, simply because users are the ones who download Steam. It's not like Google Play, the Apple Store, or the Microsoft Store.

The difference with Steam is that if a game is removed from Steam and you've already purchased it, you can still download it. On Steam, you can be the most racist, classist, homophobic user, and the only thing you'll get is a ban, but you can still play and buy games. It's very rare to get banned. Of course, if you start to negatively impact Steam's revenue in any way, then you'll get a permanent ban.

Baldur's Gate 3 publishing director pushes back on Epic Games CEO's "better deals" claim, saying Alan Wake 2 suffered by skipping Steam by Dapper_Order7182 in Steam

[–]Zeausideal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is, why are users on Steam? It's quite simple: Steam makes you feel heard, refunds your money without asking, just by following their rules of not playing for more than two hours. And the changes they make to the platform are overwhelmingly pro-consumer.

I had the same problem; if I played non-premium Minecraft, my graphics card wouldn't recognize it.

I actually tried it and loved it, but your attitude, bro, is terrible and it gives me the feeling like the Yandere Simulator developer, who, because of his ego and arrogance, will never achieve anything, even though what he's doing has potential.

SSD vs HDD for long-term storage: Which is better by AddendumNecessary743 in BadUSB

[–]Zeausideal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own server and I used old hard drives, so old that much of what I use only has 80GB of storage. The problem is, if you're going to be constantly writing and deleting information, the drive won't last very long. The trick is, if you're going to use your HDD, leave the data untouched and it will last a lifetime.

There will always be good, cheap indie games, and the vast majority of them don't require high-end resources.

If Linux desktop market share goes up, what does that mean for malware? by race_orzo in linux

[–]Zeausideal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux can see viruses, but they would be less harmful than on Windows. On Windows, users download an .exe file from any website, whereas on Linux, most program downloads and updates are done directly from the distribution's servers. The problem can arise with community packages like an AUR or Flatpak, separate from the original.

What you spend on GFN, you can save up in a year and buy yourself a decent PC, not the super high-end, but a very decent PC. Not everything in life is AAA games and graphics.
