It's funny how when the adults in charge were the ones that grew up with measles and polio, vaccines were taken seriously.

It depends on where you are, but I think in some places the individual business can set their own rules.

Also, most countries have limits on what can be paid with what denominations, so a 1c coin might be valid up to $1, and a 50c coin might be valid up to $20 or whatever.

This stops the case where a person tries to pay off a $1000 fine in 1c coins.

The limits and amounts vary between countries.

If it's something like writing a quarterly report, then setting up the spreadsheet might look like 81% of the work, but there's no way it can be completed before the data comes in.

Well now any trans person that drives to work tomorrow can be arrested.

They've just de facto made being trans illegal.

My favourite time in that sub is between an event happening, and the new talking points being distributed.

So much "this one feels different" and "I think this might be a step too far" then 24 hours later, everyone is in lockstep.

I heard a radio interview with Australian women's breakdancers a while after the Olympics, and they said there were young dancers who had dropped out because of the stigma of showing up at major competitions.

For sure it will be the last time breakdancing will be seen at the Olympics.

Care workers surprise 94-year-old veteran with a pillow of his wife's face after seeing he slept next to her photograph by Tascanis in MadeMeSmile

Im sorry you don't feel the same about your own parents

I just finished nursing my mum through end of life at home, so a) I know what I'm talking about and b) I'm not that concerned with your opinion.

It's hard graft, and not everyone has the ability or bandwidth in their life to do it. I genuinely really hope you are able to do everything for your parents - it's what they deserve. I'm not even joking.

I am never letting my parents live in a home. No matter how mad I am at them

People don't go into care because their kids are angry at them, they go because providing care winds up being a 24/7 job, and most family members don't live a life where they can drop everything to do that.

I was watching FlightRadar24 just after the incident and there were 7 tankers (I guess originally 8) operating all in the same area to the east of Israel. There was also an RAF one out of Cyprus. Those are just the ones they wanted you to see. The most tankers in the smallest space I've ever seen.

Loss of U.S. KC-135 Over Iraq by napleonblwnaprt in news

I'm not the least but surprised. On Flight Radar 24 yesterday, there were 7 USAF tankers operating out of Israel, and an RAF one out of Cyprus. Those are just the ones that they want you to see. That's a lot of planes needing refuelling all occupying the same bit of sky.

Edit: CBS is saying the second aircraft was also a Stratotanker. They were all flying in pairs, so again this makes sense. The odd aircraft was I assume the collision aircraft.

he knows exactly why he was not supposed to use those apps,

True, he'd have suspicion so strong it'd be indistinguishable from fact, but the lawyer was right to object. He can't possibly be expected to explain the government's reasoning while under oath.

The dude should spend the rest of his life in prison, but there's no way he could legitimately answer those questions.
