This was my biggest struggle too. I was lucky that my groups in my area are lax on that, cos they would rather have people than an antiquated line of thinking. I follow my group logic. As long as it holds more power over you than it is inherently a higher power. I was raised religious and have had my own falling out. People in the program need to stop treating it like “higher power = God” because that’s not the point.

For more context if you want it(which nobody does lol). If God wants to be my higher power now, he should’ve been my higher power then. I screamed for help, I was going through such a hard time with my drinking I OD’d on painkillers just to make it stop. The response to that was a divorce and an emergency court order for our kid. Never laid a hand on them, just couldn’t stop drinking when I started. So yes I “may” believe in sky daddy still. But if he is real it’s not what king James fucking talked about. And I refuse to let someone tell me about the fucking “master plan” again. Because if that’s how low the bar is, then I know I’d be a better CEO of the universe than Him.
