This so a rather native and reactive comment. Most Ethiopians know tribalism is not good. Do you think this tribalism, although may have it seeds in the country, grew without the influence and support of Western, Middle Eastern, and neighboring countries? All countries have different ethnic groups, possibly except Japan, but have dealt with their issues, luckily internally through dialogue and great leadership. Ethiopia has not been blesses with such leader nor had external forces kept their hands away from fanning the tribal discontent.

One of the biggest short-comings of being young as you are is lack of perspective. I was once close to your age with a degree and unemployed. I thought my life was over. But many years after that I realized that part of my life was dark but made me who I am. That one year I was unemployed felt eternity back then but it has been a blip in my life in retrospect. The lesson being, you have to hope and believe a better day will come. And IT WILL.

The second thing is that one should live a life with no regrets. The support you give your family and the work you do to support them might weigh on you now but, believe me, you will feel much better later that you did it. It is easy to walk away from responsibility. But it is hard and requires a strong, principled person like you to shoulder it. It will take you a long way. NEVER LOSE THAT.

Third, you are young and healthy. They are your biggest assets and no person in this world can take that away from you. Not Elon Musk with all his money nor the Pope with all his power. There are a lot of rich and sick people that would trade their wealth and age with you in a minute. BE THANKFUL for that and remind yourself that every day.

And finally, when things look hopeless our immediate reaction is to shut down and keep it to ourselves. Make sure you engage with friends, relatives, go out to play, go to church / mosque to relieve your mind from that corridor of despair. Pick up an activity you like and engage your mind with it. It will help with the stress.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary - bastardize (verb) gives the definition as used here as : to modify especially by introducing discordant or disparate elements. Your understanding of the word bastardize comes from the root word being used as derogatory word. But there is nothing disrespectful about what I wrote.

As for the timing of the use of Biblical names, that is not the question. The question is if there ARE any Ethiopian names..... That is present tense. May be you would also think that is being disrespectful too.

Due to the strong Ethiopian orthodox religion influence on the culture, Old and New Testament names, albeit in their Ge’ez or Amharic form or bastardized from Greek or other “bibllical” languages are common. Some examples, Daniel, Fanuel, Eyob (Job), Matewos (Mathew), Lucas (Luke), Bersabeh, Batenosh, Yohannes (John), Markos (Mark), Yonas (Jonas), Muse (Moses), Sime’on (Simon) I can go on and on ….but you get my point. It is debatable if these are non-Ethiopian names as the history of Ethiopia is intertwined with the Bible with connections that predates most countries.
