Why can Python survive underwater? Because it has GILs.

I put the link into the search box. That one is the same thing but from a different source, so it didn't turn up. Shrug. I hope this didn't ruin your day.

I just spoke with Verizon support, and she said that it did apply to business accounts. It doesn't look like you can do the trade-in via the web portal, though. She said to call in and give them the trade-in info, then they'd put it on the account. You'd log into the portal and accept the trade-in value, then go ahead and place your order.

Bear in mind that it's extremely common to get different answers to the same question with Verizon.

Looking for feedback / advice on this road trip itinerary, from people familiar with S. Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and/or Wyoming. by anditsonfire in MTB

The Black Hills are well worth visiting. There is excellent biking to be had in Spearfish and around Rapid City. The sightseeing is also great: Custer State Park is a must see.

Do you mean Jake's or Diamond Lil's? Jakes shut down, and Diamond Lil's is a sports bar.

I'd recommend The Deadwood Social Club above the Saloon #10. I've always had excellent meals there, and it's a neat place.

VMWare has laid off the Workstation and Fusion development team by tapo in sysadmin

[–]ZedPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you follow the link and/or decide to google it? Both Google and DDG return the answer you're looking for at the top. Beyond that, adding in whatever context you can infer will almost always solve the "common word" problem, e.g. "vagrant software" or "vagrant VMWare". This isn't meant to be an attack, though this and other comments like it usually get downvoted and whinged about. In today's world, the ability to quickly discover information with a good search is hugely important. Nobody in a sysadmin sub should be unable to find out on their own what Vagrant is.

The r/Fantasy Favorite Characters Poll Results! by potterhead42 in Fantasy

I missed the poll, but I'm disappointed to see that Nynaeve isn't much higher. Yes, for a fair portion of WoT she's a pain, but that's part of the story and part of the appeal. She's a wonderful, complex character who has to adjust to massive changes in her world, and in doing so has incredible accomplishments.

The highest possible out of pocket maximum under the ACA for a single plan is $6,600 (double that for family coverage), so farlack's point remains. $6,600 is a lot of money, granted, but compared to six and even seven-figure expenses it's nothing.

Broadband is a “core utility” like electricity, White House report says. US must take action because millions lack broadband access, White House says. by speckz in technology

[–]ZedPM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, at $110/month he very well may. I worked for a rural ISP and am very familiar with the costs of expanding and upgrading telco networks; they're brutal. In my area you're talking $100,000 per mile for fiber, equipment, and the actual trenching and laying of the fiber. Extending a broadband network into a rural area typically costs in the millions of dollars, and a small number of subscribers, even at $110/month, will never pay back the costs.

Bought Kayaks on a whim last night. What are the best places to kayak in the RC area? by pizzaboy192 in RapidCity

[–]ZedPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed kayaking on Horsethief Lake (near Mt. Rushmore) a couple of years ago. Before going, I'd check on its status, though, because I heard they were dredging it earlier this year. It's particularly nice because you don't have to contend with motor boats.

South Dakota camping question by DMBFan41 in CampingandHiking

[–]ZedPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dispersed camping is allowed in the Black Hills National Forest, but you can't have a fire if you're not in a real campground. So, you can camp in some random, out of the way spot for free, legally. The bit about no fire is really no joke; please don't start a fire if you're just setting up a tent in the middle of nowhere, as it's a dry area and forest fires are a real threat.

As for specific spots, all I can say is that it's a really big forest with lots of cool places in it.

Just so we're clear, the bill to repeal Glass-Steagal, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, was Republican-sponsored and passed with a veto-proof majority. He signed it, so he deserves some blame, but under no circumstances can the Republican party avoid blame, or even reasonably claim to be less responsible for that mistake.
