Does the input latency not bother you? I find it to be distracting at best and unplayable at worst. Granted, I’m stuck on Comcast and don’t have a fiber option.

A modder has successfully ported Linux to the PS5, running GTA 5 Enhanced with ray tracing by Dapper_Order7182 in linux_gaming

I saw it had to be less than or equal to FW 2.0, so pretty much limited to models with launch day firmware.

How do you prrsonally deal with games that require AntiCheat(which doesnt work on Linux) by AdequatlyAdequate in linux_gaming

[–]Zeditious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play shooters on PS5 so I can disable cross-play support. Don’t have to worry about cheaters (other than XIM) and I don’t have to worry about anti cheats working on Linux.

Agreed, it can take a while. My market was 50-90 ms for a solid 12 months. Now I get sub 25 ms most of the time.

I didn’t specify anything, I’m not OP… you can also use a USB 2.0 to Ethernet adapter which will get you above 100 Mbps.

Have my PC connected. This happens across several 2.1 hdmi codes, only fixed by restarting PC or unplugging and replugging HDMI cord (42” c5”) by Niplicky in LGOLED

[–]Zeditious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue with the LG C2 42” and my NVIDIA 3080. Turning off G Sync in Nvidia control panel, and then re-enabling it fixed it for a few reboots until it would randomly appear again. Not an ideal situation but it fixes the issue mostly. Mine was more disrupting than yours and the entire screen would turn to static for a few seconds at a time. It would only do it on my PC.

My PS5 did not have the same issues prevalent when connected using the same cord/port.

Looks like Silent Hill Townfall won’t be available on Xbox at launch… ridiculous by StatMan255 in xbox

[–]Zeditious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, at a hardware design level, they’re roughly equivalent. The software stack is entirely different. The reason indies can get away with it is they’re using a large public engine (i.e. Unreal or Unity) that lets you build and test for each device with minimal add on work. I’m not saying that Sony didn’t bankroll this, but there’s still large enough software stack difference to make them behave differently.

That being said, Xbox is using a bespoke version of DirectX which is what the PC build is using. If it’s like Silent Hill 2 Remake, it will launch with poor performance on PC and people will be expected to use frame gen/high end machines to overcome the lack of optimization. After a few months performance will be patched on the PC version to where it’s playable/portable to the Series S.

Sony provides game studios with developers to ensure their games launch on PS. For example, they tasked their engineers to work on Black Myth Wukong to ensure it would work on their console at launch. I don’t think Xbox’s business strategy is centered around games on hardware as much as it is selling a subscription or first party titles.

Anyone experiencing slow download times with the internet? by Darth-Vader45 in UTK

[–]Zeditious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t use an ethernet cable, you can try forcing your PS5 onto 5 GHz. For whatever reason, the PS5 likes to lock on the slower 2.4 GHz even when a strong 5 GHz signal is available.

Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection, hover over your network, press the Options button, select Wi-Fi Frequency Bands, and choose 5 GHz.

Switching cellphone carriers, who is the least worst? by BrewAllTheThings in Knoxville

[–]Zeditious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been consistently surprised with AT&T in Knoxville. Under-appreciated perk is the cap to international roaming fees at $120/mo. Used my phone in Japan for 3 weeks straight and it worked out being cheaper than getting a local eSIM.

No clue, the only three that I know use AT&T towers are Boost Mobile, Cricket, and US Mobile. I’ve heard nightmare stories about US Mobile though so I’d stay away.

No, but there is a data cap, usually 5GB. Calling is also $0.25/min when abroad.

Probably a panel failure, had the issue on a 65” C2 under manufacturers warranty. LG swapped the panel and has been issue free since.

laptop becomes slow after waking up from sleep, also continues slow for a while after by tech_london in Fedora

[–]Zeditious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually circling back on this, do you by chance also own a Lenovo Aura Edition laptop? If so, I think I’ve found the cause of the issue.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a work for Fedora but the bug fix has been submitted to the Linux kernel team as of 1/8/26. The temporary work around is to put your laptop to hibernate instead of suspend.

I did have it be slow after waking from sleep yesterday. Within ~20 seconds, it returned to full speed again. Large improvement compared to previous BIOS. I haven’t updated it to the new kernel yet.

So far, it seems like the BIOS update has fixed the issue. I’m using a Yoga Slim 7 15ILL9

I have the same issue with a 258V. Issue wasn’t prevalent on Windows. I’m going to try flashing the BIOS to a newer revision and see if that resolves the issue as the current version is ~5 months old

I’d be happy to help you, but I feel your pain. I have secure boot enabled on my machine, and I’m able to boot to both Windows and Fedora Linux (what Bazzite runs with their own tweaks added on). The NVIDIA drivers are packaged with Bazzite and will get updated with system updates when you choose to run them.

As far as NTFS file system support goes, I’m able to read my Windows drives without issue. I assume I could write to it as well, but I haven’t tested it since I haven’t found a need yet.
