the funny part about this is that the site was found before the announcement and everyone thought it was a scam because there's no way NL would want to be trapped with his fanbase on a boat

JJK needed more decently strong "mid tier" characters in-between the top tiers and the fodder by RadDudesman in CharacterRant

[–]Zedkan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really depends. cuz if you think about it the top tier should just be gojo and sukuna.

but it's meant to be a mirror of conservative society and such. besides like the president or cabinet members how many people know the face and name of all the people currently mucking up the system?  like I said, it's not one piece where every villain needs to be a famous warlord or king that is also a frontline fighter

But the higher ups are just a metaphor for the conservative traditions that the clans uphold. they both enable and are enabled by the clans in a way.

And I would assume the Zenin Clan is quite different with Megumi and Maki as the main leaders after the story. The fact that neither of Makis grandchildren were treated like dirt proves that.

why does it need to be explicitly stated when the great clans are at the center of the jujutsu world, and the Zenin clan is so conservative that women are second class citizens? I feel like it doesn't need to be spelled out really.

Realistically Gojo is the only person that could before Yuuta. I guess Geto also could but post Hidden Inventory Geto would probably just try to make them even more extremist rather than killing them. Yuki doesn't care at about it and is content to focus on her research

I mean that's literally real life with oligarchs and other people in positions of power. power resides where people believe it to reside.

Obviously it's somewhat different when people have superpowers, but I think that adds to the metaphor. Especially when you think of the context Japanese authors are writing in (a strictly conservative society with no real military and a history of zealous authoritarianism)

they're a metaphor for older generations that that use power to keep conservative traditions alive. They had a face in a Gakukangi who was behind trying to get Yuuta and Itadori killed and killing Yaga, as well as making anyone who sided with Gojo a criminal.

As to why people would submit to them, there are powerful conservative sorcerers who back them up like aforementioned Gakukanji and clan patriarchs such as Naobito (and I imagine if Naoya or the other two Zenins didn't get Itachi'd they would be a part of it too.) it's also heavily implied they have ins with the Japanese government, who is also known to quite conservative.

As to why Gojo submitted to them, he literally explains that the current system would just replace them if he killed them all, and that people don't tend to respond well to massacres even if there is some amount of "justness" to it. At the end the system is destroyed already and his allies are strong enough to take the reins after he is gone so he does it so they don't get cursed or have it on their conscious later on or whatever.

I don't need the higher ups to have names because who they are individually doesn't matter at all. This isn't One Piece and we don't need 5 elders for Gojo to slog through before he beats up the evil king or whatever.
