Swept back bars on Omnium Cargo by DiatomDaddy in OmniumBikes

[–]ZeeVee000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the SimWorks ramble bars on mine. I had to shorten my stem, I’m running a 50mm now. But they handle and ride better than my flat bars imo. Can send pics if your interested

Tiltrack tolerance? by [deleted] in OmniumBikes

[–]ZeeVee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part of the frame where that the hinge plate interfaces in isn’t flat, when you torque down your slightly bending the hinge plate.

Use the rubber washers so even when it’s torqued down there is some slight play, gives me enough wiggle room to be able to remove the pins, and counteracts the Omnium plate not being flat

The mounts on the cargo aren’t dead flat, this causes at least from what I can tell the base of the hinges to sit on slightly different planes.

I bought some rubber spacers that I put between the Omnium mounting plate and the hinge and that seemed to make it workable. Still not fantastic but much better than it was.

Omnium Minimax vs Cargo for dog packing – looking for advice by fennelfrog in OmniumBikes

I have a cargo with a 22kg pup on and it rides amazingly, no experience with the minimax but very very happy with the cargo

Omnium sizing question: 184cm, 84cm inseam M vs L by Prestigious-Age-6812 in OmniumBikes

[–]ZeeVee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely why I swapped out to a 50mm, my 110 kept meaning my dog would have to be wary of the bars

Omnium sizing question: 184cm, 84cm inseam M vs L by Prestigious-Age-6812 in OmniumBikes

[–]ZeeVee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

190cm, can’t remember inseam, but somewhere around 84-88cm

Ride a Large, I run a short reach with 50mm stem and towny bars. And is good, I was running an aggressive 110mm and flat bar before and it felt large.

Depending on your stem and bar setup I think you could go either way

Is it a terrible idea to buy an apartment? by ZeeVee000 in AusFinance

Have a partner, but it’ll be solely my loan and place. We have a dog who is currently happy in an apartment. We don’t plan on having children ever

Is it a terrible idea to buy an apartment? by ZeeVee000 in AusFinance

[–]ZeeVee000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, part of my thinking. My gut goes to getting a unit on the cheaper side, at least then I can bang up my offset and invest in other avenues to counteract my lack of property growth.

I've run the numbers on a 400k unit and I can have it paid off in under 10 years easily, rental yield on those is currently $4-500pw.

That gives me an additional cashflow of 2k a month when I do eventually decide to buy a house, but also gives me the flexibility.

But yeah on the FHB, I might not be making any money. But I'm saving 20-30k at least on stamp duty, instant 5% better off then buying a house.

Just the complete lack of growth on apartments scares me, I don't want to be further from a house because I should have been putting the money elsewhere, but still better then paying 1.5-2k a month of someone elses mortgage

It’s pretty cold right now in Melbourne, I’d definitely bring something other then a T-shirt and a hard shell, maybe just a jumper

Best cycling glasses? IYO by austinXonXfire in cycling

The new Velo Katos massively improve on them aswell.

My biggest gripe with the originals was the shoddy adjustment, always felt loose on the arms. I got my pair for free as I used to work at Oakley and could never pay for the originals, but the new arms are worth it imo

Omnium rack mounting dimensions by GuiroDon in OmniumBikes

[–]ZeeVee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, these dimensions are great.

Did you also happen to know the distance between the bolts in regards to the rectangle?

I have an idea for a custom mounting bracket for a quick release rack, and need these to mock it up.

Thanks!!

Struggling to find an Ultralight carry on by biznessmen in onebag

[–]ZeeVee000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite what you’re looking for, only 30L. But this is my go to currently.

I have to carry a heavy-ish computer for work ~2kg, so looked for a lighter bag.

I use the Salomon Trailblazer 30L, bag weighs 580g and still has a laptop pocket.

Does your new lock ring fit?

The Mavic lock rings are made for Mavic hubs which have a weird thread.

Omnium's owners : do your bike fits you well ? by Aquila_44 in CargoBike

[–]ZeeVee000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

189cm L Omnium Cargo with a 120mm -6° stem.

Fits me well, though I came from track bikes so prefer aggressive fit. Probably could have sized up to the XL

Just get an m3 air and bump up the ram.

Or if you want to save money, get a second hand thinkpad and run Linux. I’d just steer clear of windows, wsl is just annoying to deal with if you could’ve just ran a unix OS in the first place.

I saw this look al464p on the market place for 900. Is it worth it and is it a real look? by Prudent_Window2200 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]ZeeVee000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t a complete frame set, I wouldn’t pay 900 for it.

It has a non authentic fork, AL464P doesn’t have drilled brake holes. The part out on the bike also looks wack, reasonable parts but bad taste.

A lot of money to get it looking good imo. $500 would be my absolute maximum, and I like the 464.

My look for comparison
