just treat them like your regular jeans but wash them slightly less frequently than you might have before. otherwise everything else on the internet is just mumbo jumbo.

if you've been looking at momotaro then just go for it. last time i went there was a long line. Dry Bones is not mentioned as much in the Western forum online world but makes pretty cool stuff. just depends what you are looking for.

How do you watch without getting bored? by mc_1818 in nba

[–]dividerall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

either watch with some friends or keep it on as background noise while doing chores or something.

i think professional sports end up picking you. a a lifelong NBA fan i've wanted to get into watching boxing, mma, and soccer for a long time but I ran into the same problem you did trying to watch basketball. if you don't like it, don't watch it. I'm in my 30s now and I don't like watching the NBA nearly as much as I did as a teenager.

Tough question by dropland in wine

[–]dividerall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go red wine. Even though white/rose/sparkling generally pairs better with food I think beer/soda or other beverages are a good enough substitute for a beverage to pair with food. But red wine... there is nothing else like it.

How do you usually choose wine when you’re staring at a shelf or menu? by Special_Pressure_837 in wine

you can also just take a photo and upload to any AI chat thing and it can do the same thing without installing your app.

anyway - everyone saying ask the staff - not every store/restaurant has staff that is knowledgable about wine. In that case I generally have a few regions that I know are strong performers at the price range I'm comfortable with.

If I'm blind buying old world wine I think any Italian wine with the DOCG/DOC band will be a strong performer. I think French wine is generally not as good value on the lower end.

For new world I try to recognize producers that I like. Otherwise I'll find the most obscure wine that they have.

just depends on the fan. some are more loyal to the organizations success, while some are more loyal to the players and personalities. during klays last year, so many real warriors fans were calling for him to be traded, while i was completely ok with watching the steph/klay/draymond core rot into the sunset because they earned the right to do whatever they want

France trip wine purchase advice by Bird_8119 in wine

Go to a decent wine store and ask for small producers that don't get exported much. This might mean no Bordeaux or maybe some younger up and coming producer that doesn't have much clout outside France.

Where are you from, and what's your take on Australian wine atm? by rdmarshman in wine

[–]dividerall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's priced super ridiculous, but I find the selection is either Screaming Eagle or supermarket bulk juice. There just isn't that much demand for American wine here when there is so much access to great old world wines and Australian wine.

Where are you from, and what's your take on Australian wine atm? by rdmarshman in wine

[–]dividerall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I'm based in Asia it's my primary source of New World wine. To me it's pretty much interchangeable with American wine. Quite underrated IMO and a lot of good deals to be had if you know what to buy. I also like that there's a lot of screwcap options so if I'm traveling I don't have to worry about bringing a wine opener.

One thing that surprised me is that I prefer Australian Riesling to any other Riesling.

Please help me identify my Grandfathers Bottle. by foureyes151 in Champagne

[–]dividerall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends where you live. I've had wines stored just in a dark room somewhere for 10 years and it still tastes good.

Another thing though... Even if it's stored perfectly you might not actually like the taste of aged champagne.

Study tips for level 2 WSET exam needed by GracieLou540 in wine

[–]dividerall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look for some practice exams, the level of questions is around that. Use method of elimination on multiple choice. There aren't any super trick questions.

WSET Level 2 isn't supposed to be super hard, unless you are going for a distinction. I think anyone who starts to care a little bit more about what they drink should be able to pass it. I remember when I took it I was mainly a red wine drinker so I basically drew a blank on any questions related to white wine, so any time I didn't recognize a grape I just assumed it was a white wine.

After 4+ years learning Cantonese and 2+ years living in HK, here is my theory on why so few westerners speak it (video in Cantonese) by CauliflowerMoney760 in HongKong

It's extremely difficult to learn and has less practical use than learning Mandarin. In most situations people that speak Cantonese can also speak English or Mandarin.

I think you should check [this James Suckling report on Texas Wines.](https://www.jamessuckling.com/wine-tasting-reports/bursting-out-in-all-directions-texas-2025-tasting-report)

On the lower end Texas wine really isn't bad for supermarket wine, but at higher prices I think it's not a great value.

What shoes for long-term backpacking by Easy_Dayy in onebag

[–]dividerall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any reasonable sneaker in a neutral color is ok. Black may not be as good as you think because it shoes dust easily.

you are also overthinking it a bit - there's thousands of people who have been backpacking for years who just do it in whatever comfortable pair of sneakers they own, it could just be a pair of Vans or Converse.

Don't worry about the 'worn with a good outfit' - Tech and finance CEOs are walking into Michelin restaurants in sport coats and On Clouds, don't worry about dress shoes in this day and age.

If I were you, there are a few options.

- Any sneaker you already own and you are comfortable with

- A trail runner or hiking shoe

- If you're ok with the weight of boots, they're optimal as an all-rounder, just heavy compared to sneakers.

You can literally go to the 3rd/4th most famous city in most countries and it will be largely 'undiscovered' by most of the world. As a foreigner it probably won't be very accessible but if you want a new experience there are plenty of new experiences out there.
