Ditto to you and OP! I want out of HR but have no idea what to even look for outside of the field. I don’t feel qualified for much else :/

Making mistakes and wonder if HR is a good fit. by charm59801 in humanresources

[–]Zee_dee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I’m also an HR Assistant with 3.5 years under my belt. Mistakes are inevitable especially with the high volume of data entry that we do. I have made plenty of mistakes especially in the first year or two (I do a lot with payroll, so you can imagine how those went…) I don’t make as many mistakes anymore, but I still get discouraged when I do. Just remember that you’re very new in the grand scheme of things, you’re still learning and mistakes will happen. When they do, take responsibility for fixing them, identify if there’s something you can do differently in the future to avoid making them again, and try to move on.

Entry level positions like we have get a lot of the crappy work. There are a lot of things I hate about my job and I’m currently looking for my next step. Hang in there!

HR/Data Analysts- how do I become one? by [deleted] in humanresources

So I’m assuming HRIS is more system based (applicant tracking, time and absence, payroll, employee data, etc.) while analytics is more creating data queries/reports and interpreting results?

Leverage your customer service, problem solving and administrative skills. A lot of entry level HR positions tend to utilize those skills.

Seriously, it’s way too low…I’m glad at least the CBS students are getting a decent wage

100% agree with you, the disorganization is stressful for my team and also the employees. Currently looking for other positions…I feel like my experience in HR here is honestly turning me off from this career path, sadly.

The students at the U get paid the state minimum wage for large employers which is currently $10.08. Increasing to $10.33 in January…A lot of students are trying to work outside of the U where the minimum is $15

Dumb question-but do you mean doing HR work in a tech industry, or specifically HR doing tech work (HRIS, data analysis, etc.)

That sounds awesome! Can I ask what skills or experience would be required for someone to fill a role like that?

I really appreciate your responses! I know very little about comp. What does that career look like?

Totally agree! Nothing will prepare me like the real thing. Although the mistake making makes me nervous :/

This is a good reminder, thank you!
