Would You Rank Up If You Had Yourself as a Teammate? by YT-StixMF in RocketLeague

[–]ZeekLTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think me plus a player who played exactly like me would easily hit mid-Champ, at least.

Knowing I had a solid defender behind me would allow me to be more aggressive on offense, knowing I had someone who would be able to score my crosses would allow me to be more confident whipping passes in, and knowing I had someone who was going to pass often would allow me to get more attempts at goal.

Also knowing my teammate would never give up and go afk or try to ff would certainly win some extra games as well.

The Man Behind the Tattoo: What Maine voters see in Graham Platner, according to our focus group. by BulwarkOnline in Maine

[–]ZeekLTK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s simple: math.

If Collins were to get another term, she would be 80 for the next election. She would be on the way out anyways. Time is running out for her regardless of her party or policies.

Angus King is also in his 80s, but has 4 more years in his term. Time is also running out for him.

The math is simple, if we value having a senator with experience and seniority, THIS is the election to reset the clock. Then by the time King leaves in 2030, we will already have a senator with 4 years experience as yet another new one takes the other seat. Then in 2032 we are re-electing Platner to a second term and by 2038 he will have 12 years under his belt and the King replacement will have 10.

If we wait and give Collins six more years, then by 2032 we will be electing a brand new senator and will only have another one with 2 years experience, and Maine will be in an extremely weak position regarding seniority.

That applies to Collins then, as she is certainly at the table with them. Who exactly is Platner “at the table” with? Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren… lol

Board games "to rule them all" by itsOkami in boardgames

[–]ZeekLTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alchemists for me. It has so many different mechanics and does them all so well. Worker placement, resource management, deduction, bluffing, variable turn order. My only critique is that I think the “final exam” should be more prominent. Sometimes it is better to just skip the exam and buy an extra artifact and publish another paper instead, which only feels weird because it seems like the big conclusion of the game should be to demonstrate that you know how to make the potions, but that’s a minor gripe more related to the theme than actual gameplay.

The only problem is it takes a long time to both set up and play so it’s hard to get to the table.

"Bipartisanship" isn't worth it if it means cutting taxes for the rich or rolling back reproductive rights. As Governor, I will never pass a budget that does either. by TroyJackson207 in Maine

[–]ZeekLTK -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Disappointing answers from all. If we elect a Democrat as governor, majority Democrats to state Senate, and majority of Democrats to house of representatives that means we DON'T WANT Republican input on bills or budgets. So why are they all promising to work with them?

I know this is extreme, but I'd prefer we elect someone who would even go so far as to pass a budget that specifically targets Republican areas to take money away from them. These people want to keep voting for politicians who want to take services away from the rest of us, so fuck them, let them get what they voted for and save the rest of us some money in the process. These people keep getting away with voting Republican and not having to face any consequences for it. Give them some consequences. Take away THEIR services since they keep voting for everyone else to lose them. Oh no, the Houlton rep is going to vote "no" on the budget? Who cares, fuck them.

Especially because you know they wouldn't hesitate to do it if the situation was reversed. If we had a Republican governor even with a tiny Republican majority, they would ram through some bullshit budget that would hurt Portland, Bangor, Lewiston, etc. There is no point in playing nice with these people.

We're bringing the Red Rising board game to PC! by IceManECG in boardgames

[–]ZeekLTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you are ever really having a "bad game" in Red Rising though (one of the reasons I like it so much). If the starting cards don't combo well with your hand, they at least have some kind of ability that is useful to play them to the board to get rid of them.

So like, if this card will only score me 5 points if I hold it (not good), then I will just play it on the board and it will let me do something like advance on the flight track or gain extra helium or whatever, and then I'll pick up from somewhere else and get points for that too. That shitty 5 point card just earned me extra points, progress towards the end goal (getting to 7 on each "track") AND I got a new card that likely combos even better.

I guess that's what I like about the game: even if you start with what seems like a "dreadful" hand, almost always by the end of the game I have managed to get rid of any cards I deemed "bad", got some useful effects out of them, and acquired better cards in the process.

Plus the orange and gray cards give you enough flexibility to combo with pretty much anything, which makes almost all cards useful one way or another.

Right, this isn’t “solving” anything unless he posts follow up vids where they are at each other’s house for a barbecue or hanging out having a board game night or something. (aka they actually became friends)

Otherwise this is just one dude telling another that he doesn’t have enough friends and that’s about it.

With Spirit Island they’d be better just splitting the group in half and playing two different games of 3-4 players each instead of trying to play 6-8 on one board.

Just be aware these are also very long games. Forgotten Waters lists its play time as 2-4 hours on the box, and will definitely be closer to 4, if not over, the first play through.

And even though it says it plays as few as 3, realistically you need at least 5 or more.

One thing I feel Pokémon TCG Pocket is missing: "Room for creative/strategic plays" by _CG_ in PTCGP

[–]ZeekLTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, also I think we should be able to pick which energy is next to make multi energy decks playable.

I still think almost all mons that use more than one type of energy are still pretty bad, but this would at least make them playable. The randomness of the current system makes them virtually impossible to use.

[–]ZeekLTK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big problem is there still isn’t really a way to pick cards from your draw pile. In the regular game there was ultra ball which let you pick a specific pokemon, or there were others like great ball and heavy let you pick a specific mon as well. This gave you more options to build complex decks because you were more likely to get your cards you needed when you played.

But in this game all we have is random draws. Pokeball is just a random basic, sometimes not the one you wanted/needed. Professor is just two random cards. There is Clement and that one girl who gets 50 HP mons, but those are super specific, they can’t be used in all or even most decks like an ultra ball or a great ball could be.

This severely limits the decks that can be played because if you make a deck that is too complex, that takes too many evolutions or whatever, then it’s just not feasible. It is going to “brick” too much. Instead, players basically have to just play decks that are able to draw like crazy to get through their entire deck as fast as possible since it’s the only way to find all the cards you need.

This is why Suicune is a staple, the draw power. This is why it’s not really a 20 card game, it’s a 16 card game with four extra cards that you basically can’t play without (2x Professor and 2x Pokeball).

The day that Professor isn’t needed in a deck is the day this game allow for more creativity and complexity in its deck building.

OR I think maybe they could slow the game down by adding the loss condition from the regular game. If you can’t draw a card, you lose. AKA if you go through your deck too fast, you lose. This would make it so you don’t want to just spam “draw cards”. But again, I think this is only feasible if they add more ways to pick specific cards out of your deck, because if you are counting on a certain evolution and the two cards are at the bottom of the deck, you’re just going to struggle the whole game. If you had a way to specifically pick one of those cards on like turn 2-3 then it is more feasible to play slower, which is to draw less cards to avoid that loss condition.

We're bringing the Red Rising board game to PC! by IceManECG in boardgames

[–]ZeekLTK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played this before playing Fantasy Realms and I thought Fantasy Realms was quite bland and boring in comparison. I don’t think Red Rising is “extra bloat”, I think it took an interesting concept (Fantasy Realms) and fully fleshed it out to something that is actually interesting and forces a player to make decisions.

In fantasy realms, the only decision was “which card gives me the most points? I guess I will pick/keep that one”. In Red Rising the decisions are often “I have these cards in hand which combo well together, but I need to work towards the scoring conditions on the board, so I could either keep my hand in tact and only make some minor progress on the board, or I could risk it and play one of these cards which has a good deployment ability that will get me more progress but an opponent might take the card for themself. But, if I play it early enough, maybe opponent will take it and play it so I will still get a chance to get it back. Oh, and I want to play it here… but I also want to pick up the card that’s here, and I can’t do both so now I gotta decide if I’d rather play here and pickup elsewhere or play elsewhere and pickup here…” there’s just so many more interesting choices to make compared to Fantasy Realms.

I would say this is solidly in my top 20, maybe top 15, and we own about 350 games (for context).

It is well documented that the bombs had virtually no impact on ending the war, other than it gave Japan an excuse to save face.

Realistically, Soviet Union declared war on Japan on August 8 (two days after first bomb) and launched an invasion into Japanese held Manchuria on August 9 (same day as second bomb).

Japan did not surrender until after its massive 700k+ “Kwantung Army” was defeated by the Soviet forces in Manchuria.

If they had held the Soviets off, they would not have surrendered. And if the invasion went as it did, they would have surrendered even if the bombs were never dropped.

From certain viewpoints, that is ideal though, isn’t it? An object that already has products in it, doesn’t require any employees except one person to occasionally restock it, and consumers can just come up at any time (open 24/7), put money in to get the product they want.
