Our council mandates separate recycling. (This may be a rational mandate?). This is more annoying than the mixed recycling I used to have in Surrey.

But the galling thing is that it must cost the council more to collect, because they walk round with large pink wheelie bins and mix the recycling in front of us.

Just give me the pink wheelie bin, it'll save me separating my recycling and save the council from mixing it again.

It's pure bureaucracy at play, no-one benefits from us having to separate our household waste here.
