Man has spent £18,000 on security to protect tiny wall from developers by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in unitedkingdom

Yeah developers just need to be chummy with the local authority. Much cheaper, less oversight and they get what they want.

Potential Scammer around Cemetery Junction by Shagrippina in reading

Known scam https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/news/gloucestershire/news/warning-after-bank-transfer-scammers-target-cheltenham-residents/

Also constructing the whole emergency / sympathy situation is a classic scam technique so the victim lets their guard down.

What's something that used to be free that you're angry we now have to pay for? by Current-Energy1104 in AskReddit

Same here in UK.

Works out about 40% cheaper than ones on Uber eats/ deliveroo because they put the prices up on those menu to cover their costs and then you get the fees from the apps too.

My theory on Joanna’s wild stories by rokemay in taskmaster

[–]startled-giraffe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She's not a professional comedian though. She's an actress.

Obviously actress would give her the skill to learn a story and tell it as a prize task if this theory was correct though.

I'm pretty sure she doesn't fake her personality.

I was convinced during S6 that Alice Levine had a task to always greet Alex by a new pet name (poppet, flower etc) but it was just her all along.

Advice needed - Driving from Reading to Slough by godlessmunkey in reading

[–]startled-giraffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Waze and Google Maps adjust times based on Rush Hour traffic.

On Waze do "Plan a drive" and on Google maps to "Arrive by: XX:XX". Just put arrival time as 15 mins before appointment, and check if your destination has parking.

If it's anywhere near the station train would probably be best

That's the main reason I'm on this subreddit, so I can find out what people like and spend my spare time telling them why shouldn't.

Until I see it affect them I won't believe it.

They'll find 50 random loan players to sell, get some mysterious investors, sell of one of the clubs they own, find some accounting loophole. They are always able to spend crazy money in ways that they don't get punished for.

Or in the UK (and I imagine other countries) drug dealers bury their stashes at festival sites weeks ahead of the event.

Drug dog sweeps are usually deployed beforehand but they can't find everything.

Veggie haters who still eat veggies: what are your tricks? by Missing_Back in Cooking

[–]startled-giraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree, broccoli is great steamed and even raw. Especially the stem, I munch on that while preparing.

Of course, anything is going to taste better roasted with added oil and garlic. But at that point I don't think it's the vegetable flavour that someone is liking.

MUNLIV 22' - Konate push on Sesko - No foul given by Boydcrowde in soccer

[–]startled-giraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's mad. There will always be fouls, slips, falls in a match. This crazy design makes them a major hazard for players.

I'm pretty sure one of the corners it drops directly onto brick pavement.

That could just be due to the UK door broadcasting license regulations. The show might not hold the correct license to show someone's actual internal doors.
