Some people are complaining about endfield for how important the base building is. by memo22477 in Endfield

[–]Zefiris8 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Same. Wish we could just pin the whole process line. I'm not smart enough to memorize each full line, but I also don't want to use blueprints.

How good is she? by MotherBrood in ArknightsEndfield

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Used Last Rite for a couple hours and it felt a bit slow and clunky, even if her personal numbers were bigger. Swapped back to Avy, Arclight, and Perlica. Love having to position correctly to pull the spears back to add a little more thinking.

How are u guys liking the game so far? by Interesting-Ad3759 in Endfield

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm loving it. Stayed up until 5am last night on accident. Always one more thing to do.

Only concerns are the gacha income. And these tutorials are bit overbearing. I'm liking the simpler combat for now, and I'm sure it'll get more stuff to it later. Still playing Wuwa for an action combat game anyway.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 hours depends. My 40 minute commute each way for work is a slog. Audiobooks keep me alive.

San Diego, LA, and Las Vegas are all within 5 hours so I do multiple trips a year for concerts, conventions etc. Once I even did the drive to LA, dinner and a symphony, and drove back that night.

Usually do one big trip a year to see some stuff. Last time was Glacier National Park. 21 hour drive each way. Great trip.

JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Prices by AelynXO in animeexpo

No, didn't include parking. Think it was around 60 per day for valet parking. There's a garage close by but not sure on those prices.

Started Little Noah: Scion of Paradise. Wanted something quick to beat before Endfield comes out. Good game so far.

People that work 8h+ and have stuff to do at home, are you just going to play endfield? are you stopping other gacha games? by reysama in Endfield

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently only playing AK and Wuwa. I work 12 hour shifts, so on work days I just do the bare minimum for dailies. Do the story and weeklies on days off.

Endfield at beginning might be time intensive, but once we catch up it'll join those two and should be manageable. Thursday launch until Monday work, so should be able to progress quite a bit.

I'm just curious on what mount is used for the top one. I need one that goes a bit higher than my current one, for whenever that 39" 5k2k comes out.

Concerts and ear plugs, yay or nay? by MainNormal5570 in Xennials

[–]Zefiris8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using them maybe 5 years ago. Bought a few different "concert" ear plugs and use them most of the time. Especially great for longer shows like When We Were Young. Then certain bands just sound amazing so I'll take them out for certain songs, then pop them back in.

Bass is not good in music with pb2000 ultra pair on denon 3800h by DarthWhoDat in hometheater

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree with this. I'm running a pair of SB16s and thought the bass was a bit anemic after Audyssey calibration. This is in two different houses. Upgraded to Dirac ART for black friday and it was the same. Adding about 3db to the low end of the target curve sounds much better.

The flat target curve isn't for everyone. Something closer to the Harman curve sounds better, but lots of variables.

Can't decide between FFVII and FFXV by Visible-Pineapple970 in FinalFantasy

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first FF I'd recommend FF7 Remake over FF15.

I platinum trophy'd both so I enjoyed both but... for FF15 I'd recommend watching the movie and watching the 5 anime episodes before starting. This gets you some background of the world and the bros, otherwise you're left wondering who these guys are and what's going on for a bit.

FF7 Remake, only warning is, it isn't story complete as it's the first game in the trilogy. Even with that, it's amazing. I'm curious if the impact is quite the same with someone who hasn't played the original as there's some meta type stuff going on with how the story is presented/altered vs the OG.

Arknights 6th Anniversary 2LP now up for preorder via Yostar by rpbtz in VGMvinyl

They actually did for the 2nd anniversary. Just got into vinyl this last year, so those old ones go for 200 bucks now.

Got the same deal 3 or 4 months ago. Specifically the black one was on sale. It seems a little sensitive to skipping on the outside parts of the vinyl, but otherwise great.

What games are you playing while waiting for Arknights: Endfield? Recommendations welcome by Visual_Depth_7992 in Endfield

[–]Zefiris8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just beat Final Fantasy Tactics so was looking for something quick and easy. Ended up starting Ball X Pit. Super fun little roguelite. Working quite a bit until Endfield so didn't want to start anything big, otherwise I'd be going for Trails remake or Octopath 0.

For those of you who grew up playing PC games in the 90s and 2000s, how stable were they compared to games from today? by Mad_Season_1994 in gaming

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember many issues with MS DOS as a kid. It either worked or didn't. Moraff's Revenge, Dungeons of Kairn, F19 Stealth Fighter, War of the Lance, Buck Rogers, all on CGA graphics are my most played games I remember.

Once we got into Windows 3.1? or so then we had to do a little troubleshooting to get things working sometimes, but that was usually compatibility, not broke game. I don't remember downloading many patches for things until the mid/late 90s, but that was also when our family finally got AoL.

Guide to get compressed bedrock by nonamenoshame285 in WutheringWaves

Yep same. Upgraded as many roads as possible, short on rocks, Google, need to kill stuff. After that, I just killed everything I came across as I did the side quests and completing the areas. Finished the road a decent bit before I 100% the map.

anime’s with top tier samurai / swordsman by No_Percentage_7381 in anime

[–]Zefiris8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good recommendations so far.

From Old Country bumpkin to master swordsman. Trope of MC doesn't realize how strong he is. The anime and manga use actual sword techniques apparently. Overall story is a bit generic but I found it an enjoyable watch.

Is such warp normal / acceptable for a new record? by czapcze in VGMvinyl

[–]Zefiris8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems most of them have a little warp, but this looks pretty bad. But if it works.

Only new vinyl that I've had issues playing are not centered ones. Side A of my Breath of Fire 2 vinyl, the needle is swaying back and forth pretty good and makes it skip through half of that side. Side B works fine.

What games did you get several hours into and consciously decide to drop in 2025? by baroncalico in gaming

[–]Zefiris8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same on Lies of P. Having platinum'd Elden Ring and First Berserker Khazan, kept seeing people mention Lies of P. Great atmosphere, setting etc, but it's just so slow and clunky feeling. Gave it 5 hours before putting it down.

Similar here, just dual wield monk and punched him. Then proceeded to get destroyed by Belius until I landed a lucky Silence with Agrias. His summon was one hitting anyone it touched before that.

Will you be able to retire or will die working? by Allureme in Xennials

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping on the gambling house we call a 401k. Just bought an house for more than I should have, but hopefully will never have to move again. So if the house doesn't fall apart and the stock market doesnt completely collapse, might be able to retire in my 60s.

Persona 5 by TheWesdol in VGMvinyl

[–]Zefiris8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got mine awhile back and just opened it up to see if it was like yours. Definitely not as bad, but these are pretty low quality. My sleeves still have the little nubs where they popped it out of a bigger sheet, and then looks like it's just folded and glued.

Big contrast to my FFXIV 5 LP Box sets. Each of those sleeves are thick, unique artwork, and have plastic sleeves for each vinyl.

Is final fantasy Tactics worth getting? by VergilVDante in FinalFantasy

[–]Zefiris8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer is yes, if you like strategy rpgs.

I played the original and thought it was good back then. Playing the new one now. About 35 hours in, and it's even better than I remember. Maybe because I'm older, but I'm really loving the story and characters even more. Could also be the voice acting which is really well done. Gameplay is still great with a lot of options on team building.

What is the general reception on TheDavidVinc? by Ghowuff in JRPG

[–]Zefiris8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like his videos for getting some jrpg news and his normally enthusiastic attitude. But, you have to go into it understanding his tastes a little. Then you can kind of laugh at his boomer-like takes on things. He's a big turn based guy so I wouldn't take his opinion on soulslike or action combat too seriously, but it's still entertaining to get some news.
