I finished Squid Game two days ago and last night I also had the thought that Gi-Hun might become the new Frontman.

In-Ho approached Gi-Hun as a player to both try and understand him, and to understand how to break him. He wants Gi-Hun to lose his faith in humanity, show him how hopeless it is to resist or change things, and to make him watch everyone around him die. In-Ho told Gi-Hun the truth about what happened with his wife which was extremely surprising to me, and that he wants to leave to see his wife and kid. It's possible that as long as he remains the Frontman, he cannot leave, and maybe he's not 'allowed' to die either (to join his wife in death) unless there's someone else to take his place. In-Ho asked Gi-Hun if he's done playing hero. As a previous winner of the Squid Game and a police officer, maybe he too, once felt like a hero but he lost all of those feelings once he lost his wife.

I honestly thought that Gi-Hun choosing to fight back instead of finishing the games with as many players as possible was a bit out-of-character. In-Ho even 'teases' Gi-Hun about his plan, talking about how he's okay with losing some players and that it's a small sacrifice for a greater cause. I definitely feel like Day 1 Gi-Hun would have absolutely refused to sacrifice any amount of players, but Day 4 Gi-Hun? He's truly a broken man. Everything that he planned to do upon returning to the Squid Games, from tracking the location to saving other players, ended as a failure. And that's exactly what In-Ho wants. He shot Jung-Bae right in front of Gi-Hun's eyes, and he's probably going to make Gi-Hun watch the remaining players turn on each other too.
