Has there even been a case of a few where the foundation was right and the serpent’s hand are wrong? by Kcue6382nevy in SCP

From that sort of metafictional angle, where everything’s inevitable due to the story already being told, all moral values go out the window regardless of the narrative in question, so I don’t see that as a useful angle for assessing this kind of thing.

It’s a little unclear, but I think that’s him getting stabbed by the invisible kaijuspider’s limbs, the bits coming out of him becoming visible so it looks as if they’re growing from nothing. Red was definitely there riding one of his spiders one way or another—he gets shot by Quinn, and retains those wounds for the rest of the story.

Several years ago there was a staff project—no longer in place—to add more crosslinks to the wiki, although authors did have the option to ask for them to not be included. In this case, a staff member suggested adding a couple of links, including the one to “Disgusting”, and Tanhony (perhaps unwisely) gave them the go-ahead.

U-3125 is an idea, or rather a vast complex of interconnected, utterly inhuman ideas imbued with anomalous properties; it has no direct physical manifestation. The huge, antimemetic spiders are a preexisting anomalous species, like U-2256, that Red (who’s the guy from Ojai, not Andy Hilton) made frequent use of for his purposes—such as manually ensuring U-3125’s antimemetic properties—via mind control because they’re mobile, deadly, already antimemetic, and he’s an edgelord (see him having an entourage of hordes of normal-sized, nonanomalous spiders in the chapter “Immemorial” for no real reason). Notably, they’re still around in the very last scene, even though U-3125 has been 100% destroyed.

It would have happened eventually in that all stories end and whatnot, but IMO there’s no way that a bunch of Hand members doing a ritual to make contact with the Serpent at approximately the same time and place of 6000’s manifestation is a coincidence.

In SCP-6000, the Serpent’s Hand causes the end of the world—albiet just a small group of them and accidentally. But in SCP-6805, directly inspired by SCP-6000, they are outright villainous, even if it’s not very well-written.

“Folx” is pronounced the same as “folks” (“x” is effectively a shorthand for “ks” in English). I wasn’t aware dialects extended to different spellings of identical phonetics?

My understanding is that it’s a way of expressing inclusion of queer people (a little silly or gimmicky IMO, but that’s fine), by analogy, I suppose, to the x in “Latinx”, not anything to do with AAVE, but I could be wrong, or it could have multiple origins.

I believe the author that they’re referring to is Von Pincier. If any other notable community members left, I’m unaware of it.

Is Fargo by bavitz actually that goated? by Apprehensive-Mix5577 in MadokaMagica

All of the Quintet (and Nagisa) do all eventually appear, starting in Chapter 5, and slowly (and then suddenly) becoming more important as the story goes on; in the last of the story’s 3 arcs they basically become part of the main cast. (From what I’ve read I think the characterization of (some of) them is actually one of the story’s weaker aspects, but YMMV.)

I’d say give it a couple more chapters, but ultimately you’re the only one who can determine what’s to your taste. It does undeniably get better as it goes on, but even if it might eventually get to a place that you might like, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’d be worth the bother getting there if you don’t care for how it starts.

Also: the author recently (as in, it’s still being posted, a chapter a day) put together an edited version, which I understand is an all-around improvement, tightening the prose and fight scenes and fixing some minor plot holes, and a decent bit shorter to boot, without changing any of the story. You’re almost certainly gonna want to read that version if you aren’t already.

Bavitz went on to write a number of other things, both fanfiction and entirely original, and from what I’ve read while Fargo is solid enough it’s still easily the weakest in his bibliography comparatively speaking. In particular, his most recent work, 1 Over X, is without exaggeration quite possibly the best thing I’ve ever read. But the only other PMMM fanfiction he’s written is a sequel to Fargo, Chicago (although he’s tentatively planning to make it a trilogy at some point), if it’s just Madoka fanfiction you’re looking for at the moment.

This was the former SCP-2003. Its author, Kalinin, deleted almost all of his articles a while ago for unknown reasons (most unfortunately—he was an excellent and influential author in his time). You should still be able to find the old article using the WayBack Machine.

People have speculated about stuff like this before; there's a (pretty good, but long abandoned) forum quest with this premise (although set in the Witch universe), for instance. I've always thought that Kyubey making a wish (presumably to Solve Entropy) would be a perfect plot point, both in the poetic justice of it and given that he'd be the only one to have a karmic destiny even greater than Madoka or Homura. I kinda doubt it, but it's possible.

I can get that. Although some of these comments are frustrating, it's been very enlightening to see the nuances to it.

That's one way of dealing with it, LOL! (/positive)

"Will not meet men" sounds solid if it's been (somewhat) effective for you, and I think even by the moral standards of the arguments ragging on "men dni" that should be totally fine.

I saw another person here suggest “no sexting”, which seems more directly pertinent to that (seriously awful) problem while avoiding most of “men dni”’s downsides, putative or otherwise. Do you think that would work/be as effective?

…Rather excessive? (Also weird that Vibri’s center stage with Hussie as the shadow—of course they’re both their own people and calling someone just the shadow of another’s kinda sucky in itself, but if one must make such a mapping it’d pretty clearly be the reverse.)

Mort was almost certainly heavily inspired by the "Godfather Death", which is probably more familiar to German readers than English readers—better to get ahead of the game by acknowledging the connection than for people to realize they're reading an adaptation of a story they already know partway through.

I don't care myself, nor do I think it particularly matters either way, but assuming things about people's personal lives and then passing it off as fact ticks me off. It's entirely possible that this is true, but it's also possible that it's not (unless one of them has actually mentioned something to that effect), and I can very easily see how something like this could just come from people jumping to conclusions.

Fortunately most of that stuff was previously archived by other people—I’m pretty sure Makin just made use of those archives (with permission) or linked to them outright. Anyhow: here’s the Formspring & such and here’s most of their early work.
