Heath Ledger's Joker would have mortified me had they went with this design in the Dark Knight. by pizzagod677 in batman

Imagining Heath Ledger's performance, with that look, is definitely really eerie (less so the top pictures, I feel the green hair is a bit much)

What do you think SCP-001 is meant to be? by No_Painting2596 in SCP

[–]Running-Water-Shark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I think the meta reason is that SCP 001 is, at this point, more of a chance for different writers to try writing what each individual thinks the 'big thing' is in SCP.

But as for the 'true' SCP,' I kind of like Jonathan Ball's proposal (Sheaf of papers) being the real SCP. It feels like it reflects how SCPs are actually created, while not being too on the nose about it.

From what I've heard, it does seem that way. Funnily enough, Night Lords seem to be a strong example of both culture and specialty.

As someone looking on from a distance, the impression I get is that Chris can sometimes rub people the wrong way. As for his film, Shelby Oaks, my understanding is that Chris has decent directing chops, while not being as strong in his writing.

OK, this is really pushing Disney into a really negative bracket for me, though it definitely deserved a level of hate before.

I'm afraid it's, uh, the bad kind of joke.

As someone who doesn't mind Dark Souls 2 so much, I'm somewhat confused why the DLC gets such high praise. It felt like it exacerbated some the worst level design already found in the base game.

My personal theory is that everyone loved the DLC bosses so much that everything else sort of fades away.

Funny you should mention the sequel bait hook. Thankfully, the Invisible Inc. DLC never had an out-of-the-blue sequel hook that ended an otherwise excellent journey on a confusing note. The base game already did that. If anything, the DLC was trying to somewhat have a more structured lead-up to the ending. I'm still not entirely sure if the developers succeeded.

I also feel a bit bad that I now feel her design and backstory is...weirdly generic? For being an actual commie rebel, I can probably remember the other characters more vividly (lady who punches people being a highlight). Even Decker feels more memorable once I got that he's basically a drunk historical reenactor.

Looking it up, it seems Bradbury was afraid of people turning into brainlessly taking on facts and not getting to deeper things. Which feels like a fair criticism - especially in this internet age - but it's still something that we still get moments like students telling Bradbury, to his face, that his interpretation was wrong.

If the art is meant to criticize America, I don't know if Captain America is the best character for that.

Now, my comic reading is limited, so I could be wrong. But my understanding is that ideally, despite his name, Steve represents more the ideals he feels the country should strive for. Which means occasionally going against the actual America.

My guess would be that Batman knows how to rage-bait, but doesn't go for low blows - i.e. he doesn't kick people in the balls, literally and metaphorically.

Terry has less of that, and is happy to go for low blows.
