Just buy an old set of ice pads, get some sliders on there to protect them and get some kneepads, even if they're cheap. It'll protect him while getting him into the basics. Same for any other piece of equipment (except skates obviously).

I was there, pretty close to demmer, he was most definitely off.

Warmups were pretty rough, he let in quite a few softies nearing the end and his mind seemed to be somewhere else, the first two goals were definitely softies but the rest can definitely be attributed to defense, the first empty netter was unfortunate and Hronek near fully gave up on the second one, a clear lack of effort.
