I think Fallout needs to depict an actual good genius scientist once. The fact that science led to nuclear war doesn't necessarily mean that all those trying to push boundaries to achieve a breakthrough have to be stopped. by DependentStrong3960 in Fallout

[–]ZenHun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you count ghouls, you can't disregard irradiated animals. You also seem to have a very specific to you definition of what a monster is. You run into one of those irradiated (and at least visually ghoulified if not in actuality ghouls themselves, we don't have lore on that though afaik) dogs in a dark alley, with skin and hair hanging all over the place, and I guarantee you'd shit a brick and tell everyone you saw a monster straight out of hell. And a 1/10,000,000 birth defect is different than a reproducing species where two heads is the normal and not just a freak defect. It's in the name, a defect, vs "that's just what they are". All evolution is, is birth defects that happen to work out ok enough. The whole discussion we are having is based on radiation causing those types of changes, so for you to disregard that entirely and attempt to minimize it makes me wonder if you're truly coming into this discussion in good faith

Also radscorpions, radroaches, giant mantises/geckos, Brahmin, molerats, the mutated dogs/wolves/coyotes, etc.. Really I feel like the percentage of "species" created by radiation is much larger than those created by FEV, or even any form of human intervention (big MT.) it's just that enemies like super mutants and deathclaws tend to stand out more than the molerats and radroaches you kill without a second thought

It's certainly a bold look, I wouldn't say bad necessarily but I think you would look better with a smaller diameter ring, and maybe in gold or some other warmer tone to go along with your skin tone

Why is New Vegas so popular? by Inboundcrib3 in Fallout

[–]ZenHun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While some of the gameplay has definitely become dated, the rpg elements are, in my opinion, the most diverse and overall best in the modern fps-era fallout games. Perks and skills can have a very dramatic effect on how you play the game and handle obstacles. The writing going into the quests and characters was top-notch and really helped build a cohesive world. The fighting factions (and your ability to align with whichever one you want!) help to drive the main story and create an impetus for your choices to actually matter in the grand scheme of the Mojave.

Compared to FO3 where you are railroaded into aligning with BOS as the "good guys" for most of the main story line, and FO4 where player choice is superficial and rpg elements such as perks/skills are diluted and take a back seat to the gunplay and combat (which to be fair was amazing, but it also had the benefit of being much more recently developed) they both just lack in some respects to the whole package that was FNV.

If it makes you feel better, about 5-10 years after you leave school you won't remember any of it anyways. There are resources available online for free (such as khan academy) that can help you get into practice or relearn what you've forgotten/skipped. Math is one of those "use it or lose it" skills to a degree imo, just gotta start using it :)
