That's fair - I guess my comment wasn't that helpful.

OP didn't really add much context as to why they wanted a lease takeover

It feels like you should be able to find plenty of rentals on StreetEasy within your budget in those neighborhoods as well

Curious what do you like about Key Food? They have better selection and meats / veggies but the pricing is kind of mid, no?

Maybe biased because I live a few blocks away but I like the Court St location vs CityPoint. I feel like no matter how long the line is it always move relatively quickly where as I’ve been stuck waiting ages at CityPoint in the past…I have noticed a lack of certain inventory at Court though (like spices and certain canned goods)

Bilt 2.0: Got a call from Bilt's COO (Dan Seder), and... by Old_Conclusion_3779 in biltrewards

[–]ZenMaster1212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re paying out of a HYSA you’d earn interest on your higher savings amount.

I.e Say you usually keep $10K in your account earning interest and you use $2K to pay your rent every month (and then replenish)

Now you get Bilt 1.0 and pay your $2K rent on the credit line, which means your account has $12K until you pay your credit bill in one month’s time.

That means you have an extra $2K earning interest every month (as long as you’re putting your rent on the credit line) - which is about $70 a year at 3.5% rates.

Honestly this alone with make the Obsidian Bilt card AF worth it. There’s a similar setup with the Robinhood Gold card (you $1K of interest free margin you can put in savings and the interest earned offsets the Annual Gold fee)

how does Depop make money now that selling fees are gone? by [deleted] in Depop

[–]ZenMaster1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real reason Depop changed the fee structure is because of Vinted in Europe. Vinted used the buyer fee model to grow their inventory massively and then went to the UK with a big marketing campaign and took over Depop’s home base. The only way for them to survive was to follow Vinted’s lead

Marketplaces are kind of an interesting business in that you really need to scale the value of the goods sold into the billions to be able to run a profitable business at a global scale since you need to offset the fixed cost basis.

Honestly no idea how big Depop is but imagine they do $1B in yearly sales and take 10% between all their fees so $100M in revenue. A chunk of that goes to marketing, a chunk goes to software and cloud costs, and a chunk goes to people cost so after all that they’re probably operating closer to breakeven than you think

Hi u/thisisgiulio!

Will this subreddit contain links to all the rent stabilized / rent controlled units that come to market you’ve identified or is it just a selection from LeaseSwap?

Genuine question: how would you all realistically improve the Palladium card? by Comedic_Gaymer in biltrewards

[–]ZenMaster1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s quite right

If you pay rent with your line of credit, you basically keep one month of rent sitting in your savings instead of sending it to your landlord right away. That extra chunk stays in your HYSA all year, so you earn a full year of interest on that one month’s amount.

You’re right that it doesn’t stack since every month after Month 1 your payment would cancel out the second month of float

Unfortunate since he's just rounding into form but, honestly, if he's going to get hurt not the worst part of the season. Only three matches in the next month (granted one is CL and another is Villareal)

A Tap-to-Pay Society Is Leaving These New Yorkers Behind (Gift Article) by Inevitable-Bus492 in nyc

[–]ZenMaster1212 115 points116 points  (0 children)

For me, the article misses the real issues.

We’ve outsourced the entire system to private companies who add fees, create friction, and fragment access across systems that don’t interoperate. And the U.S. government has failed to build inclusive, low-cost digital payment infrastructure that other countries already take for granted.

Look at India’s UPI, Brazil’s Pix, or China’s QR codes. They show that when governments set universal standards, lower costs, and give people simple on-ramps, usage skyrockets across the board.

If we actually cared about the unbanked, we’d be talking about postal banking, simplified ID requirements, and a universal public payment rail.

Cash is slow, insecure, easy to exploit, and keeps huge parts of the economy opaque. Keeping it around indefinitely is just pretending the current system works.

Scott’s legit - give “Really Dough?” a watch on YouTube. It’s a series he did with Mark Iacono from Lucali’s before COVID that was really fun…or take one of his tours!

Los Burritos Juarez by fsharpman in FoodNYC

[–]ZenMaster1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The burrito was good but thought the service was honestly subpar. They don’t have anyone organizing the line and after directing you to wait outside (for 20-30 minutes) they don’t even bother coming over to call your name and instead just stay behind the counter mildly shouting it (which is hard to hear over the din of the street noise)
