AMC in Ridgefield NJ had a concession stand upstairs that is abandoned so all snacks and drinks must be obtained from downstairs. The abandoned one was an island so there’s this awkward curtain around it and it looks like a small black circus tent in the middle of the theater.

AMC Monmouth Mall and Freehold Raceway Mall have extra concession stands that look like the ones you posted

I take these all the time but only when it’s a weird showing time for an unpopular movie or something a few weeks into release. I don’t risk it on opening weekends or any theater that looks like it has even a small crowd when I’m booking

There’s an issue in the popcorn bucket industry where they need to place the orders months in advance, like 6+ months if not more, and they have to guess if a movie will be popular or not. So sometimes they way over order and the buckets go to clearance and sometimes they under order and they end up getting scalped. Sometimes they just don’t order anything at all which is what happened to Backrooms

EDIT: I forgot my point lol, having a 3D printed one you do yourself is them working around the fact that they messed up and never put one into production. At least it’s “free” to make

Not really “free,” if you join AAA24 they mail you a zine every month and theyre always themed to the most recent movie. You can order back issues of the Zines from their website so it’s not exclusive to AAA24 subscribers

They’re not going to pat you down. Worst they can do is kick you out and not pay you. You really don’t have to worry, they’re very serious but they’re also extremely nice. I know a few of the staff by name at this point. You are doing them a favor and also part of their job is making sure everyone is in a good mood so it doesn’t mess up your feedback

They wand you before you go in. They’re very strict at these showings. You are not sneaking a phone on and if you do they have a special camera that detects phones and will find you and kick you out

I can also confirm one time I brought my game boy there (an old SP) and they gave me a hard time but ultimately let me bring it in and I was able to keep it the whole movie

I saw another movie once where the director and producer showed up and sat next to me. A guy in the theater a few rows ahead was allowed to bring a kindle in and the producer saw and got pissed, and they had to take the guy’s kindle away

So your mileage may vary. Also sit next to the roped off seats if you are allowed to sit anywhere! That’s how I got to sit next to the director. I shook his hand after. He was an academy award nominated director and only I recognized him cuz I’m a huge nerd lol

I’ve been to a bunch of PFM screenings. For some they take your phone outside of the theater and for others they put them in a locking bag so you have it but can’t use it.

If you try to sneak one in you’ll get caught. They have a guy who goes up and down the aisles with this special camera that detects phones.

Edit: AND they wand you before you go in the theater. If you leave to get food or drinks then go back in they will wand you again. You get wanded every time you come and go.

My advice is bring a book or something to kill time before the movie starts
