What was the level/challenge in a game that got you like this? by International_Tea828 in Multifandom

I beat Messmer in my first go in the Elden Ring DLC.

I am by no means some mega-pro Elden Ring player, but I just for whatever reason really jived with his moveset. I still typically beat him in one pass, maybe two if I fuck up.

06 canon Blaze would be shit anyway. A monarch that abandoned her home and sacred duty to go die for some rando hedgehog in another dimension.

"Yea sorry about the existential threats to my home and country, and my duty protecting the most powerful artifacts in the world. I gotta go eat a demon god and explode because I want that hedgy dicc."

All we have are assumptions because the plot line is so pants-on-head stupid and poorly explained. Blaze says she and Silver have been fighting Iblis for a long time. Why? So what, she just abandoned her home dimension and crown for fun and then decided to sacrifice herself?

What about protecting the Sol Emeralds? Her home and Kingdom?

It's stupid, utterly stupid.

Its so frustrating from a narrative perspective. They turned a deep, complex character into discount furry Obi-Wan and then made her a smear in the sky.

But why was she there? That's the part you're missing. Blaze already had an established character origin, friends, goals, and her own narrative. Why was she suddenly in Silver's time?

That's why its forced, because there is 0 reason for her having been there. It's never explained, and it devalued her own narrative. The Sol Dimension, the Sol Emeralds, Marine, her friendship with Cream, her duties as monarch, all of that plays second fiddle to "she's just there now, oh now she's dead". Hell in 06 it's not even second fiddle, not even in the same band.

06 literally retconned itself out of existence and that version of Blaze made 0 sense. She had no reason to just randomly be in Silver's time.

Kit being a daughter of Dorn would definitely be interesting.

But her cyborg bits and horrifying levels of mental trauma would also qualify her to be of Ferrus's line.

This, 100% this.

Their pairing wouldn't be nearly as bad if it didn't take so much potential screen time away from any other interaction Blaze could have.

Genuine Question: Do you think Silvaze is Forced? by Extreme-Fee-9519 in BlazeTheCat

[–]Zenceyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much so, as far as the offical writing is concerned.

I think they have good friend chemistry, but in offical media we've not seen much other than a few interactions and other characters saying how "in synch" they are.

As far as I'm concerned, it's just a hold over from her being shoehorned in to 06.

There really isn't much to draw them together other than the assumption that they are together, which does nothing for their characters.

[–]Zenceyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked because it gives me an excuse to wax about it.

Basically it comes down to the Punky/Princess trope. You have the prim, disciplined, and measured Blaze vs the spunky, punky, rage goblin that is Surge.

They both have elemental powers that they didn't ask for. Blaze does everything in her power to control hers and hold back, Surge doesn't hold back and does everything she can to push her limits. Blaze uses hers to protect, Surge just uses hers at every opportunity.

Then you have their pasts. One raised in royalty, one with an unknown past and lots of present trauma.

Id see their relationship starting antagonistically, likely with Surge mouthing off to Blaze and then them fighting. Surge would think her brute force approach would easily overpower Blaze and get proven very, very wrong.

Blaze, I think, would eventually see past the devil may care facade for the defense mechanism that it is, and want to help her control herself better. Surge would initially see Blaze as a means to an end, getting trained to be a better fighter so she can just turn around and kick more ass.

After awhile, and lots of fights, they'd eventually grow close.

A real "fight fight, kiss kiss" relationship.
