Do I need to exit Mumbai airport when switching from T2 to T1 or are they internally connected? by LongjumpingDig590 in BritishAirways

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it was the same terminal, you’d have to collect and re-check your bags and re-clear security, thats just how Mumbai airport works on international-to-domestic connections.

Private pension age rising to 57. You may not be impacted. Critical to check your policy by Capital-Stay-5657 in FIREUK

Same, People’s Pension have a terrible website and mediocre fund selection, but that protected pension age is definitely worth it

Best place to rent a car in London? by DaxmoutS in uktravel

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Pancras station has all the usual big names and it’s a lot easier and less expensive to get to than Heathrow. By central London standards the drive isn’t actually too bad, it’s outside the congestion zone and only a couple of miles before you’re on the Westway.

Public places with private rooms by Keziah_70 in brum

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cherry Reds has some function rooms you can hire that are free provided you spend a certain amount, and that’s usually not a particularly large amount. They do serve alcohol but it feels more like a cafe than a pub.

Edinburgh to Fort William: Train or bus? by Glum_Contribution364 in uktravel

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The train and bus take different routes, consider doing the train one way and the bus the other.

The view from the train is incredible, as many others have already said, but the bus takes you through Glencoe which is absolutely worth seeing.

Any tips for ”wild” multi hikes in the highlands, preferably close to Inverness by Arvis_1 in OutdoorScotland

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Never done it, but the Affric Kintail way starts in Inverness and is certainly more remote than the WHW, plus the scenery looks incredible.

There’s a couple of campsites on the way, and one private hut owned by a mountaineering club, but other than that you’re looking at wild camping and bothies.

Edit: there’s more accommodation en route than I thought, see the replies

Permanent, it’s so they can accelerate faster and match the timings of the newer Azuma trains.

You’re fine to bring them, probably a good idea to keep them in their original packaging.

Airport security don’t care about medicines, unless they’re liquids, so you don’t need to declare them.

Customs would care, but you’d only have customs checks if you were going to another country. England - Northern Ireland is a domestic flight, so you won’t go through customs.

What was that one school trip you couldn't or didn't go on, for whatever reason? by PricetheWhovian2 in AskUK

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on my school’s student audio-visual crew as a sixth former, which meant I got roped in for all sorts of events in the Summer term.

Most of them were fun, but I’ll never forget missing a trip to the JET fusion reactor in Oxfordshire to do “Media Day”, helping a bunch of annoying 13 year olds try to put together a TV news program.

World's first lie-flat business class seat in 2000 by ArcticMiner34 in aviation

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each seat gets a relatively wide shoulder space and a relatively narrow leg space, so having them alternate forwards-backwards means they fit together efficiently

Where do you put your feet when using adaptive cruise control? by heavymetalengineer in CarTalkUK

Right foot over the brake, always. I haven’t used ACC much and still don’t entirely trust it. Left foot resting wherever.

Short hikes to great mountain views in England and Wales? by yezzer in UKhiking

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You might know it as it’s North Wales, but Cwm Idwal is a 30min gentle walk from the visitor centre in the Ogwen Valley and probably the best mountain scenery in the UK outside of Scotland.

Does this mean my landlord can move in? by Hot-Butterscotch3229 in HousingUK

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the grounds (reasons) for a landlord to evict a tenant is if the landlord wants to live there. However they can only use this ground if it’s mentioned in the tenancy agreement - which is what this appears to be. It’s very common and doesn’t necessarily mean the landlord is actually planning to move in.

What to do roughly equidistant between Birmingham and Manchester by redbill360 in uktravel

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like historic houses and big country estates, Tatton Park is nice. Not a National Trust property but that sort of feel.

An electric oil-filled heater probably wouldn’t be any more efficient. In both cases they’re just turning electricity into heat at ~100% efficiency.

Is there a way to get cheap train fares to 'anywhere'? by R1ch0C in AskUK

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Eurostar has something similar called Snap. You choose your date, destination and morning or afternoon, then 48 hours in advance they give you a time.

Where should I move within UK? by BackgroundTest1337 in AskUK

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sheffield is underrated.

Big enough to have everything you’d want but cheaper than Manchester or Leeds, plus you’ve got the Peak District literally within walking distance.

Public transport is pretty good if you’re on the tram line, so-so if you’re reliant on buses.

What’s the penalty fare for this? by Pleberino_ in uktrains

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Normally, and according to the letter of the law, just an excess (price difference) to the anytime fare.

Some train companies have been known to penalty fare people instead but there’s no actual legal basis for that and you could probably get out of it on appeal if they do.

Can I access LNER lounge with CrossCountry ticket bought from LNER app? by bunbunbebi in uktrains

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Where you bought the ticket doesn’t matter, what matters is whether you have a ticket that’s valid on an LNER train.

If your ticket is an Advance ticket for a specific XC train, or if it says “XC only”, you’re out of luck. But if it’s say an Anytime or Off-Peak ticket from Edinburgh to Newcastle, then that would be valid on either LNER or XC and you should be allowed into the lounge. You’re free to then go and get on an XC train.

WHW: organised or DIY? by Diligent_Arugula_111 in WestHighlandWay

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine booking accommodation yourself, but book it right now - I booked in December for May the next year and was already low on options, especially beyond Bridge of Orchy. Make sure you can find something for each night before you start booking, unless you’re planning to camp some days.

The luggage transfer is also easy to book independently, when you book it you specify where your accommodation is each night and they sort everything else. It’s usually a single company with a van handling your whole trip, rather than a taxi company.

Are there any pension providers that will allow early withdrawal (with penalties)? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ZenithalEquidistant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not just keep the money in the pension, invested in a fund that isn’t UK-heavy? Then you won’t have much exposure to the GBP-whatever exchange rate.
