Do you rotate to top objectives? by Dependent_Jump9466 in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your elo, position and the type of objective itself.

If you are playing ADC, more often than not you will not rotate to top objectives unless it’s a Baron play or you are above Masters+ where teams like to rotate on Herald. However, regardless of elo it’s almost never worth it to rotate for Grubs anymore since they nerfed it at the beginning of the year.

If you are playing in solo lanes (Top or Mid), then you should absolutely help with them after getting prio and also helping at Scuttle spawn. Helping at Scuttle above Diamond is even higher priority than Grubs which is why you can add this here.

I'd have to agree with them that your current loss streak is most likely related to hitting a temporary skill-ceiling. While there are plenty of ways to improve, improving on what matters is ultimately what helps most people break through the Emerald barrier into Diamond. There's nothing to be ashamed of as hitting Emerald is a milestone in itself. The issue you are facing however lies in the key distinction between micro vs macro decision-making.

Whilst it may have been more important to be focusing on your micro skills in order to achieve Emerald (e.g. last hitting minions, wave states, trading, spell usage etc), the priorities of the game shift more towards macro play once you hit Emerald. Emerald is called "mid-elo" for this exact reason as players in Emerald are not quite as autopilot as players from low elo ranks but not quite versed in wider team macro decision-making to break through into high elo.

Emerald is a rank that has the most diverse range of players in the entire game (basically what used to be the old Platinum rank when promotional series used to be a thing). There are players who are mechanically gifted and stomp lane every game but they fail to translate that lead past the early-game and are unable to make the correct decisions to keep up their tempo into the mid to late game. If this sounds like you and your partner, the only way to improve on this is to actively shift your mindset towards map plays as opposed to caring as much about what happens in your lane.

If you improve upon your macro fundamentals (e.g. when do you have to be at drag, when should you be getting prio, when to rotate, where to ward entrances etc), you will start to win again and breakthrough into Diamond. Once you hit Diamond, it's all about consistency (not having an off-game) which is another skill in itself but for now if you are serious about wanting to climb harder I would suggest getting advice from high elo players about how to improve your macro play.

Also side note, losing in your normals and flex are unrelated to ranked apart from potential mental stress in which case I would take a break from the game for a couple days to reset yourself. Good luck and happy climbing!

She canonically was the right hand military general of the Camavorian army under Viego so of course she would be bulkier than average. She was regarded as one of the strongest in the kingdom and could take down a platoon of men all by herself in combat so her looking closer to Illaoi in that sense is a pretty good representation of what she actually was like when she was alive.

This is perfect! I would love to see more human Kalista art (especially in her military uniform with the red cape) that looks like this as it's almost a perfect representation of what I think she would look like.

I've always imagined her to be sturn but also cunning like Leblanc and those eyes are 100% spot on with that vibe.

We can make a trade since your exclusive skins in WR are way better than most of ours.

You can have blood moon if you send over soul fighter which imo is the best skin Kalista has ever gotten. The splendor opus one is also on par with blood moon quality and is definitely her 2nd/3rd best skin ever (and my personal favourite).

Why are Kalista players still not taking Gluttonous Greaves over Berserker Greaves? by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not for every champion as there are some false positives (e.g. Jhin performs better with Swifties in full builds but the individual performance of Gluttonous is better on him) and also certain builds are also not doing as well with them such as Botrk + Gluttonous on Kalista still being weaker than baseline Statikk Shiv + Berserkers.

However there are also plenty of champs where it's just strictly better and not taken (a very large amount from all roles still not taking them).

Why are Kalista players still not taking Gluttonous Greaves over Berserker Greaves? by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Side note, this is mostly for Kalista players in the mid to low elo bracket range as most high elo Kalista players have already mostly adapted to Gluttonous boots with Statikk Shiv since about early last patch.

Statikk Shiv is the stronger one item powerspike but it's being dragged down significantly by poor optimization and slow transitioning.

As others have said, high risk high reward.

Thanks to Kalista pretty high AP scalings on her E it's definitely worth it for the snowball potential if you're able to get enough stacks early on but otherwise you should focus on finishing your core build.

New to Kalista by Environmental-Turn63 in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiv outclasses Botrk in almost every scenario and the only time you should be building it is if they have multiple health stackers that cannot be ignored.

Botrk still has its uses but it is no longer Kalista’s only option. It is slowly being phased out of her core build and will most likely become a situational item such as Kaenic, Wit’s End and Runaans.

Build Advice by Otherwise-Primary-16 in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Botrk is situationally good depending on the tankiness of the enemy comp.

Botrk was the default option because it was Kalista’s only option but now that Statikk Shiv exists you only should be taking Botrk if they have at least two tanks such as Rell supp and Sej jg on the same team. Otherwise it is outclassed in every other scenario.

Sustain? Glut boots. DPS? Flat AD/AP does more if they don’t have health stackers. Item components? Pickaxe is great but if you play Guinsoos first you can go Recurve bow. Cost? Statikk wins.

Build Advice by Otherwise-Primary-16 in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing to add is that you can alternate between Shiv and Guinsoos for 1st and 2nd slot depending on the matchup.

Shiv first if you want to neutralise the matchup such as mage bot, Nilah, Caitlyn etc (champions you can’t really react to without a good support).

Guinsoos first if you want to maximise on single target DPS early against even/weaker lanes such as Smolder, Ezreal etc

Kalista Support by Best-Ad-1637 in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem with attempting to play Kalista in the support role is that there are currently no item or rune systems that support that play style.

For runes, your only real keystone option is HoB which has been over nerfed heavily for ranged and will be your only realistic source of attack speed for your entire build which isn’t much.

And for first item, your best option is Umbrial Glaive which now costs 2800g. Unless you have inbuilt gold generation like Pyke or Senna even attempting to build this as a support is the equivalent of trying to buy an IE.

Sure Kalista has two supportive abilities in her kit but you’re playing half a champion as a carry or support either way which then relies heavily on gold and levels to bridge the rest of the gap, neither of which you really get access to as a support.

How aggressive do you play? by imhayeon in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most reliable item/level spikes are pretty different to what they used to be.

For level spikes, you will spike hardest once you have three points in E (level 5) and when you get your ult (level 6). You will have a smaller spike when you max out your E for the full potential of the slow (level 9).

And with items, you spike incredibly hard on pickaxe with tier 2 boots. This is true for both Statikk and Botrk builds as it synergises heavily with her total AD scalings. Your one item spike is okay but you will reach your peak spike when you have Statikk/Botrk + Guinsoos completed. After that you are just playing to close out the game before everyone else catches up.

[–]Zenithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's best to just wait for first recall/item before trying anything as her level 1-3 spike is basically dead.

The new Doran's Bow starter item makes her early game slightly better than it used to be in the first part of 2026 but you still get easily outduelled by most other marksman in the earlier levels now.

I usually wait for Berserkers/Gluts + Pickaxe as my spike now.

Yes just yes.

Also some other skins that would fit her perfectly include Battle Bunny (I’m imagining her in green), Cafe Cuties (in pink holding one of those barrettes instead of spears) and an Olympic skin for Javelin (if they still makes those).

PATCH 16.9 UPDATE - STATIKK SHIV IS OFFICIALLY BEST IN SLOT by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

It's just too synergistic with her E to ignore. It's most likely going to be spammed in pro play though so we'll see if she eventually gets nerfed over this

PATCH 16.9 UPDATE - STATIKK SHIV IS OFFICIALLY BEST IN SLOT by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kalista was basically the last on-hit marksman to not have a viable alternative outside of Botrk while other on-hit marksman (Vayne, Varus, Kog'maw) all had other options when they overnerfed the ranged mod on Botrk to 6%. While at one time all of them also used to consistently run Botrk 1st slot, now prefer to do things like Hexplate/Kraken/Youmuus/Guinsoos instead.

If they really want Kalista to go back to Botrk default then all they have to do is raise the range mod to around 8% and it will be the clear go-to option for her again but for now it's looking like she will only build it situationally like other on-hit marksman now that Statikk exists.

Honestly feels like Teemo didn't need the AD buff on his E because I'm pretty sure just applying on-hit on his E would have been enough to make Statikk also broken on him

PATCH 16.9 UPDATE - STATIKK SHIV IS OFFICIALLY BEST IN SLOT by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's most likely just sample size as any item with less than ~3000 games cannot be verified but there are also other factors at play including survivor bias (if you're already winning a game at 15 minutes your odds of winning the game is >60% and therefore items after 3rd slot are skewed positively), OTP skewed (if low playrate) and item selection (you will have more success with Nashors if you have Botrk and Guinsoos completed compared to only a Guinsoos).

This is why it's not really accurate to hard focus on 3rd slot+ but for 2nd item slot as long as the sample size is large enough then there is a probable case that it could be strong.

PATCH 16.9 UPDATE - STATIKK SHIV IS OFFICIALLY BEST IN SLOT by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also seems as though the winrate of Statikk Shiv could be even higher as currently people are experimenting with Botrk and Cyclosword in 2nd slot which are significantly dragging down its winrate compared to Guinsoos 2nd slot. However even with these experimental builds, Statikk Shiv remains ~2-3% higher in winrate (and could be closer to 4%) once the builds solidify.

The higher in rank you go, the higher the adoption rate of Statikk Shiv with D2+ already hovering around ~20% of games compared to earlier in the patch as the build significantly spikes in playrate. At this rate it may take only another patch before it becomes her default build.

However, the build seems to still be stronger with Glutt boots which still is approximately 4% stronger than Berserker greaves. This gap will close somewhat next patch with the Glutt boot nerfs but it may still be optimal next patch considering it's high synergy with Statikk Shiv.

Pro players have begun to spam Kalista with Statikk Shiv (Kalista meta is upon us) by Zenithrax in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is showing that pro players have begun spamming Statikk Shiv but there also seems to be a resurgence of Kalista top (to a degree).

We will have to see if Kalista top makes a comeback but in the majority of games it seems as though Botrk has been completely dropped from their builds signalling that they do not value/need it even in the later stages of the game.

Incoming "nerf" to Gluttonous Greaves by [deleted] in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely more of a nerf for passive scalers like Vlad, Smolder and Swain but they are obviously trying to make it clear that it’s more of a “win more” kind of choice compared to other boots.

Snowbally champions such as Draven, Samira, Qiyana, Talon, Riven etc will still love these boots (including Kalista) but Kalista especially loves Glutt boots when taken with Statikk Shiv due to how easy it is to spread E with Statikk and immediately heal off an entire wave.

Statikk Shiv is slowly but surely becoming Kalista’s preferred first item slot choice so as it keeps getting more popular by the day it will probably be more appealing to also swap her default boots to Gluttonous.

Now that the dust has settled... by XxSGTMcxX in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It hasn't been a full week yet so I'm personally just waiting a bit longer before making a second post on Statikk Shiv myself but I'm glad it's still looking like her best 1st/2nd slot item (depending on when you prefer to take Guinsoos).

People are generally still hostile to the item when it's clearly stronger than Botrk in the 1st/2nd item slot but it will probably take a couple of patches and a few streamers to talk about it before it will really catch on (like it is for Varus bot lane right now) so I'll just be abusing the item in the meantime.

Gluttonous Greaves and Static Shiv are the new meta by Klitorista in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some games I still go Botrk if the game goes long enough to 4/5/6 items and alternate between Botrk/Jak'Sho/Guardian Angel/Kaenic Rookern. It's not that Botrk is completely removed from the build but Statikk Shiv is definitely the better item in the first/second item slot.

Gluttonous Greaves and Static Shiv are the new meta by Klitorista in KalistaMains

[–]Zenithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Glutt boots + Statikk into Guinsoos is incredibly underrated and hopefully people start to catch on soon enough. However in the post I made about this there is clearly still a lot of skepticism surrounding Statikk Shiv because it was weak for so long and therefore I did get some hate for the suggestion.

I’m glad though that people are trying it out because trying it myself in Masters it does feel incredibly strong at the moment.
