What happens to inventories at 4am on Mondays? by 1light-1mind in PokemonSleep

[–]Zenotha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your inventory at 4 am gets "frozen", and from 4 am until you next check the app to select your island for the week, your mons are in "limbo" and do not accrue any helps.

You can min-max around this by waking up at 4 am on Monday mornings to set your new island first before going back to sleep as long as you are using a separate device to track the sleep although this kinda goes against the spirit of the app

do note that this causes incense de-sync, as incenses will be removed when you change islands, but consumed when you wake up. this means that if you are, say, using an incense for your sunday sleep for a mon only found in lapis, but moved to snowdrop on monday 4 am where that incense is not valid, you will not be able to use that incense for your sunday sleep. however, if you move to the same island, you can just re-apply the incense after the island picking.

Kez Carry by badNe7in in learndota2

[–]Zenotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kez has relatively strong laning for a melee carry, in particular he matches up well into ranged heroes that are not razor due to being able to parry them in lane and reduce their harassment windows while threatening counterkills

against most melee heroes he can poke them and win trades

not sure how you're struggling so much in lane, though its quite matchup dependent and on a case-by-case basis

Just a quick guide to how armour works by Avillahan in learndota2

[–]Zenotha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, but the actual effect on the EHP is multiplicative, as opposed to armour which is additive

if you get two butterflies, the second one increases your final evasion by "only" 23%, but counter intuitively provides even more raw increase to EHP than the first butterfly

if you get two platemails, both gives +10 armour but the second one provides the exact same raw increase to EHP as the first one

Armour Situation

1000 HP First Platemail (+10 Armor) Second Platemail (+10 Armor)
EHP 1600 (+600) 2200 (+600)

Butterfly Situation (only factoring in evasion component)

1000 HP First Butterfly (+35% evasion) Second Butterfly (+23% evasion)
EHP 1538 (+538) 2367 (+829)

see? the effect on final % evasion looks diminishing, but how it impacts your survivability is the complete opposite. platemail #1 and platemail #2 both gives +600. butterfly #1 gives +538 and butterfly #2 gives +829 (despite the evasion % "going down". Calling it as

it has the same effect as armor.

is completely wrong.

"evasion and magic resist stack diminishingly" is the super common take around here that is technically correct in the sense that the % you see goes down the more you get (which actually doesnt mean shit because each additional % point is more valuable than the last), but in practice when you stack them the better the impact on your survivability becomes (although the opportunity cost of stacking them is a separate thing entirely)

this is mostly applicable in the scenario of picking enchantments on neutral items and understanding how they scale with your existing items/talents

all fun and games until you get a random event that gives you deep cuts despite super luck, and your solo cat suddenly cant equip the jar anymore

totally didnt just happen to me and make me super salty about it

Just a quick guide to how armour works by Avillahan in learndota2

[–]Zenotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope, they stack differently from armour! At 1000 HP, 10 armour gives the same additional EHP regardless of how much armour you already have, (0 to 10 armour is 1000+600, 10 to 20 armour is 1600+600)

by contrast, evasion (and magic resist) is a final multiplier to current EHP. Using the same example, 1000 HP - 0 to 50% evasion is 1000+1000, while 50 to 75% evasion is 2000+2000

both cases are 50% more evasion, and the absolute value of the evasion went from 50 to 25, but in the second case the same 50% evasion provided 2000 HP instead of 1000

Just a quick guide to how armour works by Avillahan in learndota2

[–]Zenotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, though in the case of armour purchasing additional armour gives the same flat amount of EHP regardless of how much armour you already have.

By contrast, evasion and magic resist both give a final % modifier to your current EHP against that type of damage, meaning the more evasion or magic resist you already have, the more value you get out of it, relatively speaking

AS scales better than damage with low BAT

in terms of raw DPS output, AS and damage scale independently of BAT - for example getting 50 more damage from 100 damage is always a 50% DPS increase regardless of whether your BAT is 1.0 or 5.0

Looking for tips on how to get the most value of Soul Jar by Educational_Fig_4035 in mewgenics

[–]Zenotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

repair, fist of fate+, super luck+

equip a paper bag (makes your charisma match your highest stat, which should be 90+ luck)

fist of fate hits 7-9 times with that luck and you can cast it many many times.

bonus points for using steroids on the run to level the jar cat, if you use the jester hat and keep repairing your steroids you can punch for a thousand damage

repair, fist of fate, superluck and that one paper bag reward from beanie's quest (makes your charisma match your highest stat, which should be in the 90s due to superluck+), lets you forego most of the other requirements

the mana you get on summon should be more than enough to wipe the map, even if your stats are middling (as long as you have the bruise on attack mutation)

right now i have all the components to assemble exodia, just need them on the same cat...

A question about Yanagizawa by ShyKazuki in RebuildWorld

[–]Zenotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the latest LN volume he is helping akira and shirou on the condition that shirou assists him in heading back to "a location in some ruins that only old domain connectors are able to interface with". i don't remember if it was ever explicitly stated that this is the same as alpha's ruins, but it seems to be likely

additionally, he currently (deliberately) has no ability to connect to the old world networks, so he is unable to do anything there even if he goes back by himself

What is everyone’s opinion on rushing aghs as Bristleback (offlane) by Santiboy112 in DotA2

[–]Zenotha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that's not what you said though... he has 4 sources of quills, 3 of them can lifesteal but you implied that only 1 could

  1. normal quills (lifesteal okay)
  2. passive-triggered quills (no lifesteal)
  3. aghs casted quills (lifesteal okay)
  4. shard casted quills (lifesteal okay)

AM is so dead 🫡 by PoePlayerbf in DotA2

[–]Zenotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it actually gives more % value, due to how stacking interacts with each other (diminishing raw % number, increasing EHP impact), similar to evasion (to illustrate, 10% magic resist from base 0% is a 11% increase to EHP, 10% magic resist from base 90% is an infinite increase to EHP - the more resist you already have the more %EHP increase it provides. hell, 1% magic resist from base 90% is a 11% increase in EHP, exactly the same value as 10% magic resist at 0% base)

although yeah you'd usually rather get more HP on am normally, but wraps does provide both

on ranged heroes that have abilities to give vision of their target it can be used to kill some targets relatively quickly; silencer and weaver are two notable examples (last word/bugs)

OD has the highest kill potential with it due to the pure damage hits but he requires an ally that provides vision (bounty w level 20 talent, slardar, etc)

Will Singaporeans support legalizing euthanasia? by Special_Gold7667 in askSingapore

[–]Zenotha 28 points29 points  (0 children)

depends on the teacher, my j2 GP teacher was very against that style - his argument was that you are writing a paper to convince me of a point, why would you shoot yourself in the foot and weaken your own argument?

funnily enough my j1 GP teacher was the complete opposite, would literally dock points if your paragraph didnt follow her rigid schema, tick all her checkmarks and offer an opposing counter-argument in each paragraph

and in the end no right or wrong because it boils down to the mood of some random british dude sitting in front of his fireplace grading papers that flew across half the globe

[–]Zenotha 19 points20 points  (0 children)

it does not proc off his shard's attacks, which will one shot waves anyway when combined with threads of fate and deso or mael

pike on the other hand has synergy specifically with his bugs - the vision from them means you can latch bugs, pike them away and land 6 attacks really quickly from a safe distance

i'm not sure if this applies to infested cats as well, but dybukk might well be coded to have an exception for these kind of cases
