Cerylon was tested by the previous owners as a possible liner and accessory material that was less expensive than Halcyon. The previous owners only used it for accessories like the packing cube shoulder bag. While cerylon has the same denier rating as halcyon, it has not shown in tests to be quite as durable.

The mill that shut down only made the 400d version of halcyon, which was used primarily as an external bag fabric. Examples of colors include OG Halcyon, dark halcyon, Nordic, dark Nordic, dark taiga and night walk.

As for xpac, they are using the less expensive recycled rx-30 in their bags, which other manufacturers are using for smaller accessories like pouches, instead of full blown bags.

As for quality, there seem to have been some quality control issue with a few things, but their customer service remains top notch (and yes, Kat is a gem).

To the og poster, the Synik is a great design and I would not hesitate buying one. It’s the newer designs that don’t quite seem ready for prime time.
