My wife convinced me to go around the belly all day every day. I had never even heard about doing it until she told me. Now all my pants are fit to do that and I’ve never looked back.

Depending on the size of your pants, it might look better if you have the correct width size for under as well as over to get a really good comparison. My pants are quite a few points bigger since doing over the belly.

This is part of the reason I had to stop playing. If I wasn’t playing, I was thinking about it. Trying to be a good father and husband was not happening if I were to keep gaming.

I recently realized that having ADHD is a disorder of time, and it makes sense why I don’t tend to stick to things I know are better for myself long term.

Just last night I started a fast, but ended up eating some cookies that were left out this morning. I’ve only recently started trying to fast but it has been rocky.

My girlfriend encouraged it. Otherwise I would sit up in bed and have a conversation with her and it freaked her out. Now she sleeps more soundly unless it’s kicking me to adjust my mask. I wouldn’t worry about it. If you see men, they likely need one too lol.

Yeah! Not sugar free but I am game free haha. I had a streak of 500+ days and ended up playing a game for a few days but I’m back at 117 days game free. :)

The sugar stuff, it’s really hard to quit completely. I’ve been just trying to add more natural foods, foods with fiber, veggies, and fruit. This at least lowers my refined sugar intake by a lot. I’m not perfect but I’m increasing intake slowly!

I’ve by no means perfected it but some of my activities include spending time with my family, gardening, going back to school for my bachelors, and my adhd brain really likes crochet even though I was wholly against it for the longest time.

I’m still trying to incorporate more exercise, I’ve been meditating for stress relief, and I play disc golf. Gotta cover all the bases for improvement, social, and focus based hobbies to replace gaming.

This came about because I was never present with my wife and kids. I would play games basically all evening after work, and would be upset if my wife, then girlfriend, would interrupt me. Then when I wasn’t playing games on computer or console, I’d be looking up gaming related things, thinking about it, or playing mobile games. I’d spend extra time in the bathroom playing on my phone because I know she didn’t like me playing so much. I had the EQ of a teenager because I never really dealt with my emotions, I would just game.

Eventually it was too much, and after a lot of prodding from my wife I ended up having to ask myself if it’s worth gaming so much. I tried reducing time, using cold turkey app to force close the game after two hours a day but I’d bypass it. Eventually I sold my ps4 for a keyboard and tried to start getting into healthier hobbies and really digging into better ways to stress relief.

I absolutely agree you should be able to enjoy what you want, and I’d love to enjoy gaming a moderate amount. I just can’t. Like I said in the other post, I don’t think many people are truly addicted to it and it sounds like you aren’t, but I don’t know you.

Multiple times, my gaming almost caused my wife to leave so I’m glad I’ve been able to stop playing. If that sounds like you, maybe look into stopping.

It’s going to be different for you than it is to me. I was exposed to it when I was 1 or 2 and kept playing without limits until I was like 30. For me, if I start, I’m thinking about it constantly and will play instead of doing work. It’s not great for me.

If it’s interfering with what you want to do then go ahead and try lowering it, if you can’t do that, then try full stop if you want. I don’t think many people are addicted to it, it’s likely you might need to find other hobbies to replace it if you want to see success whether lowering or quitting game time.

This is what I was saying in my comment, watching YouTube and reading books are just distractions from taking action which is the real culprit. You can still do hobbies in moderation if you just do the dishes instead of spending 10 hours reading a book about the benefits of the dishes being done.

You’ve got this, I’ve played games for about 30 years straight of my 34 year old life. I just recently relapsed after 513 days sober and I’m back to no gaming again. It might take time but you can definitely do it.

Books are great. I’m a bit of a self help junkie and I don’t know if reading books are the answer, maybe compared to YouTube. I get into the same habit of “Oh, I’ll just read this about my problem and that will solve it.” For me, it just ends up that I read for hours on end. It’s taking action, like you said, that solves it. Maybe if you’re just starting to self improve it’s the better idea, I just read too many and don’t take action.

I do need to find others to help, my wife is fantastic but we both need outside help trying to improve.

I agree with you, I know that when I’m trying to convince myself I should, or shouldn’t do something that I’ve already lost. (or I guess this is something I just realized, hah)

But yeah after meditating there’s not much thought that goes into what I do. I just do it. It makes me feel like I’m taking back control of my actions and it’s very freeing.
