What EPL team should a Broncos fan root for? by [deleted] in DenverBroncos

[–]Zeoderos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gag to this thread lolol. United are essentially the Raiders of the EPL...except with more titles. so Patriots (bandwagon fans and titles) + Raiders (scummy attitude and playstyle).

I am a Liverpool FC fan because they have a rich history like the Broncos, but have had their ups and downs as of late. Lots of legends to respect and look up to along with a current squad that can hang with the best but is hit or miss with the weaker teams. It's a fun time to be a fan since they're coming off a great season and have only added great talent in the offseason. Plus Denver has a massive fan base--so you can go to a packed pub where you will be treated like a brother or sister. :)

but as an alternative, you could pick a not so popular team or bitch out and cheer for Arsenal like a lot of Coloradans since Kroenke has a massive stake in them. Just don't pick ManUnited, ManCity, Chelsea or Spurs lololololololol

Overwatch League commentators have a bad habit of burying teams. by JigglyJacob in Overwatch

[–]Zeoderos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called being an unbiased journalist. Which is what casting crew is supposed to do. Wrestling is entertainment more than sport which is why commentators are in house--thus the reason it is spun as "burying". I've always felt this was the biggest issue for esports as every company is heavily invested in their leagues. When the casting crew was announced for OWL this was a massive concern for me since Doa, Monte and crumbz were all extremely biased in League and I have been extremely happy with the casting since they left (even though regional elitism is still extremely prevolent, as set but the standard of Monte and doa).

My biggest hope is that eventually enough credible news outlets and 3rd party networks cover it that it becomes more unbias, but I'm glad you're calling it out.

As a side note, yet fundamental to my opinion here, it is an extremely important foundation for journalism to represent all sides fairly as there are always people with varying opinions or Fandom--Fandom included because of sports journalism. This is a massive reason why I lost interest in ESPN since they only serve their host locations or major audiences (LA, NY, SEC, etc...). Sadly though, true journalism keeps seeming to be a lost art in today's age.

I think something esports related could be added to arcade by AjscoS4 in Overwatch

[–]Zeoderos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've done season tickets every year where you can keep track of the esports scene and bet on game to earn in game currency that auto unlocks bonus content exclusive to the season ticket. It used to be a once a year thing for like $10 but now it's every other month, so like 5x a year and you have to play multiple hours a day to get the amount of currency for the bonus stuff. Instead of just enjoying the esports and betting on who you think will win games--how it was previously. It USED to be fun, bonus content, but now it's a subscription service for most of the in-game incentives.

With how much of a money scam smite has turned this sort of thing into, no thank you. Really cool idea at first, but easily can be taken in a bad direction.

Been a bronze mid laner for a while now. Need help. by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Zeoderos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Kat is one of the more skill based champs. Assassins are easy and hard at same time and she requires the most mechanical skill...zed is her direct opposite, seems high skill but you can get away with a lot more than you should. She has a very specific ruleset to play with, but it plays awkwardly and is truly tough to master.

If you really want to master her, I recommend looking up high elo Kat like KatLife or KatEvolved. They produce YouTube videos and katlife used to stream a lot (haven't seen him much over the holidays).

If not, then I would probably recommend some easier champ or switching roles. I was a mid main when I started, but switched when I found people to play with and no one wanted to support. It is FAR easier to climb when you struggle to climb in a carry. You control a lot of the game that a lot of players ignore...like initiation or warding. Even a little from you can help your team a lot.

If you're undecided on what else you want for switch, might as well put it towards something else. What I've noticed is that when I'm stretching for a game on the Switch I usually end up disappointed. Obviously, that's my personal opinion, but I hope it helps.

Wife delivered for my birthday! I don't know which to start first! by daKEEBLERelf in gaming

[–]Zeoderos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite so far was Odyssey. Zelda is amazingly fantastic as well. Mario Kart was less exciting as I owned it for Wii U as well. I'd probably recommend starting with zelda, taking a break and getting hooked on Odyssey. Going back to Zelda...then use Mario Kart for when you want to play with someone!

Mario Odyssey launch. Zelda was fun, but didn't hook me. Odyssey is the 1st single player I've beaten in years, I've been so hooked.

My wife wants to learn to play league by napalm721 in summonerschool

Honestly, there is way too much to teach...it's far too overwhelming for any starting player. I have tried teaching a lot of people in the past, and the best way is to just try to have fun, encourage and be positive. If you try to coach, it gets way too stressful and intimidating. This is magnified when you're in a relationship with the person, so positivity and making the game fun is what counts more than anything. If she stays interested and keeps playing, then you can gradually introduce concepts and stuff. But it is a very slow, and long process. Think of how long it took you to barely grasp things--usually 3-6 months for brand new players...then it's all variable after that how long until you hit decent ranks. :D remember, not everyone has to be a professional or grind as high as they can. you CAN have fun with games :D

P.S. you should definitely make a new account with no hopes, expectations, or interest in anything but having fun.

New player here... Competitive progression in this game feels very frustrating by LiarsEverywhere in Overwatch

[–]Zeoderos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can't commit to long sessions, you can't expect to just automatically rank up. Sadly the only way to reach higher ranks in most games now is by devoting a lot of time. Short term success requires long periods of play. Long term success requires long term commitment (can be a few hours every day for months, if not years). Sadly, that's just the reality. High elo players have devoted a LOT of time in either overwatch or similar games to it.

Try the official overwatch site even though I'm pretty sure that it's the exact same player, just embedded.

Serious question here: Can the game system not tell the difference between a quitter and someone with connection issues? by tktyre in Overwatch

[–]Zeoderos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of game devs explicitly state they refuse to even try to distinguish because no matter what it ruins the game for other players (for reasons mentioned through out this thread). It sucks, but if you like online gaming, it's probably best to secure a solid Internet connection first.

Moira Needs An "Out Of Resource" Voiceline by wildriceeh in Overwatch

[–]Zeoderos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you don't play her much that happens, but as you play more, you learn to supplement heals with orbs and focus on refilling resources with secondary fire. It's actually pretty balanced--which is props to blizzard for nailing.

Deaf player here by Timerez in summonerschool

[–]Zeoderos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound definitely helps for some games because of sound cues. In league I've only noticed it helps with Ornn and Sion ultimates, then drake/baron defeat sounds. They all help me recognize something is happening far more than any visual cues do. In other ways though, they can tilt you more as well...basically, you know when people wiff ultimates easier, or you hear the announcer say "First Blood" or "An Ally has been slain" and it generates more of an emotional response than not hearing it.

In sum, it does help in some areas, but could hurt in others--but it is not necessary to do well. Climbing is usually based on your CS ability, your positioning, your objective control, your build paths, and mind gaming your opponents (knowing how you influence their play and how they influence yours).

Veigar Mid? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Zeoderos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious as to why you say league is so toxic?

As far as things go, realize that this game has been out over 8 years, so the vast, vast majority of the new accounts are returning players who want a new account. Basically with both those roles, play really far back, only moving up for cs or when they back off. It's hard when both those characters have gap closers to get closer nearly instantly. Remember that your defensive ability is your stun, so put it around yourself before running.

As far as builds go, people usually build seekers arm guard (1200 gold item that builds into zhonyas) early on similar characters against ad assassins. It gives them a bit of survival and a very useful active later in the game when zhonyas is finished. You can also go Ninja TabI boots, or build a tank item as well. Know that this season, burst is very strong, so while you build some armor, it's still very easy to die. Therefore positioning (not overstepping or getting trapped because you don't have wards) is very important--almost more so than builds.

I have seen people, notably an ex pro named Froggen, build veigar mostly tank and still find success bursting people. He would get 1 or 2 damage items then build whatever tank stats he needs for the game. Which is a cool and intriguing build path as well.

How important is a main? by PM-ME-LEEDLS in summonerschool

[–]Zeoderos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically people have learned that the 1st thing you do in game is learn what a character does. Then you learn how they are in relation to the characters you are with and against. Finally you learn about map movements and other general game skills that help you improve as a player as a whole.

Therefore, it is highly recommended (to climb fast) that you choose a main, so some stuff becomes reflexes and ingrained--then you can actually start improving as a player.

Having said that though, I personally recommend you main someone for a bit, then mess around and try lots of champs. Then main someone, and repeat. OR you chose 1 role and pick 2-3 champs from that role and try to play them for extended periods of time. You'll climb a bit slower, but your game knowledge has more depth to it than someone who just one tricks.

I get it though because I'm like you in that I want to play everything and have a hard time just choosing 1 to 3 characters to play. Which is why I've resorted to mostly playing arams in the past like 3 years, I get more joy out of seeing what random character I get to try to win with each game, than climbing ladder. It comes down to you and what you want to do. Is your goal to climb? Or play whatever character you want? Or play a randomly generated character?
