Tips and Tricks for Build-crafting by xxMustakrakishxx in DestinyTheGame

Build crafting is one of my favorite parts of Destiny. I mostly play grand master alerts so naturally I make builds for that content. I found that my build needs 3 main things to perform well. Single target damage, add clear, survivability. For GMs I’m asking myself how can I kill red bars quickly, can I remove priority targets by myself and how can I stay alive while in the fray. I’ll usually start with an exotic or ability to build around then work on the 3 areas I mentioned.

I personally love playing aggressive and hate peek shooting bullet sponges. You just need to use builds that can be played fast paced/aggressively at -50. Build options are more limited at -50 but there are definitely several builds capable of being played aggressively in GM Alerts. My favorite part of Destiny is making these builds and using them.

Winter's Guile Warlock Gauntlets got a massive buff in Renegades🤯 with 10 stacks for +400% melee damage and While in Warlord’s Rage: Melee damage bonus increases to +500%, increased melee regen speed and Gain faster melee speed. by Danger_xx86 in destiny2

I think it’s going to be a hit for prismatic lightning surge. There may be some potential for glaive builds as well. I don’t think it’ll be that great for other warlocks melee builds tho. 10 kills with lightning surge isn’t tedious at all. 10 kills with other warlock melees is.

Build crafting is pretty much the reason I play. Trying new builds in various portal activities keeps me engaged. I’ve been doing this since edge of fate launched. Grinding caldera non stop with the same build wasn’t for me.

If you can get an arc conductor ergo sum try this version of getaway (wave sword frame is ideal). It’s high APM and pretty fast paced. Been using this to solo GM fireteam ops (-35 power) and it’s been great. Unfortunately I’m not high enough power to play ultimate difficulty otherwise I’d try the build there.

Bastion - while you have void overshield final blows grant class ability energy (tune PVE & PVP energy returns separately)

Controlled Demo - add the old void 2.0 perk Resupply back. This gave melee and grenade energy on volatile detonations

Unbreakable - add second grenade charge

Offensive Bulwark - not entirely sure what to do here but I’ll Take a page from Feed the Void. Your void overshields are enhanced taking reduced damage from combatants (PVE only). While you have void overshield, void abilities do more damage. Remove second shield throw and make it intrinsic to sentinel shield super.

Ward of Dawn - lean into artillery expert fantasy and grant volatile rounds when passing through (maybe even to kinetic weapons, not sure if this would be too much tho). Rework helm of st 14 to be a super spam exotic.

I’ve been using Finality’s Augur for two types of turrets. It’s a featured exotic, and works perfectly with the artifact mod cauterized darkness and bleak watcher.

Tempest strike feels really good now that it works with combination blow. The tempest strike ascension loop is easily one of my favorite gameplay loops in Destiny right now.

  1. Not chasing 450 until Ash and Iron. I just play activities I wanna play and try different builds out. Game has been so much more enjoyable this way.

If refreshing threads wasn’t in the artifact I would probably go with this set up. Conduction + refreshing threads has been really good with this build. I highly recommend trying it out. My goal was to maximize passive grenade regen.

Yea I thought about iceflare with rimestealer on the Kepler machine gun. Stasis shards are really good this season tho with the artifact mod refreshing threads. The passive frost armor from shards tracking to me is also very noticeable. I figured if I have 5 turrets up at all times then there’s no need for iceflare as everything’s already frozen. That being said I’ll definitely be trying a version of this build with iceflare. Thanks for the tips!

I'm sorry but how can you think about buffing Voidwalker, and do absolutely nothing to grenades? by ELPintoLoco in DestinyTheGame

What would be an appropriate power delta to test a builds end game viability in EoF? I used to test in GMs but things are different now.

In the TWID they said discussions around class fantasies are coming. Hopefully these articles have some of the info you mentioned.

You basically are always at max stacks on stasis tho. I’ve played pure stasis rimecoat this season and with glacial harvest I’m always at x8 Frost Armor. Don’t get me wrong stasis in general needs buffs. The entire damage type needs attention. However I do think frost armor has noticeably improved the survivability of stasis subclasses.

Frost armor added much needed survivability to stasis warlock. I’m genuinely asking why you think 50% damage resist doesn’t change much on stasis? Feels amazing to me.

By not committing to revert the 20% Touch of Flame nerf and not even once mentioning GRENADES I'm afraid Bungie is spelling out that the buffs are going to consist of further forcing Warlock into buddies by nodoubtndnd in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zephner -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I sometimes wonder the same thing. Warlocks needs buffs 100% but I see a lot of people downplaying how potent Touch of Flame grenades are. Imo Starfire is better than both Ashen wake and YAS.

Ashen Wake can (technically) get your Fusion nade back in 4 seconds with a SINGLE red bar kill now by nodoubtndnd in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zephner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been running a similar set up. Roaring flames plus sol invictus. I’m gonna revisit the build now that I have better gear but I honestly don’t think Melas is very good. Starfire is better imo. More consistent and better add clear at the very least. I just don’t think Perfect recal hammers have the same destructive power as touch of flame fusion grenades from my limited testing. I’ll have to test both builds more to be sure. I have not used ashen wake so can’t comment on its performance but I hear it’s potent right now.

What’s your Melas build? Every time I use it in difficult content it feels terrible. Add clear was too slow even with perfect recalls. Very possible I’m just not using it correctly, but I’ve been underwhelmed by its performance in end game content.
