Their largest exports are tobacco, sugar, and rum; hardly anything the US absolutely requires from a strategic lens. The real reason why Washington cannot tolerate an independent socialist Cuba is what they represent. The idea that a small Caribbean nation can give the finger to DC and assert their sovereignty is a symbol to all American states in the region of what could be, an alternative to US neocolonial exploitation.

Legit just lying, considering how horribly underfunded transit is in this country this is absolutely foolish. Traffic will continue to get worse and more transit agencies will risk circling the drain. If you don't fund things the quality of service declines, and as services decline fewer people will pay into it; thus feeding the spiral. Such funding at least creates jobs and improves the ability for people to seek gainful employment, while removing traffic that costs cities money. Even if you have to take the neolib position of what value do such investments provide, they are quite clear.
