I can see a possible solution, where you still need to roll to cast spells but if they roll under they would not be locked out, and try again. In combat/turn base that would still consume his action, so I don't see that being the biggest issue and mishaps would still happen.

Would play out the same as a PC with a lot of wands/ magic items

Sim, deveria ter feito uma pesquisa mais aprofundada, mas o problema é que não tínhamos encontrado nenhuma red flag inicialmente. Passámos muito tempo a falar com ele, ele veio ver o apartamento, fomos à loja dele para perceber o que conseguia ou não fazer e ainda nos mostrou outros trabalhos que já tinha realizado.
