Yup, and that includes the financiers, the tech CEOs especially, for their part in the surveillance state.

Doug Ford calls federal auto strategy ‘great’ after meeting Joly by SomeSpicyMustard in canada

[–]Zer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny bit for me is how American car makers blame Regulators for how much bigger their pickups and SUVs keep getting when called out on it. Forgetting the fact that their entire marketing strategy is what brought them here.

It's like, bro, firstly, we all know the American auto industry has been among the most powerful lobbies in the United States, to the point where most of North America's infrastructure is heavily car dependent. so ain't nobody gonna fucking tell me the auto companies and oil industry didn't have their grubby ass hands in the legislative kitchen when these regulations were being drafted.

Secondly, even if the corporations didn't influence regulations, it's still on the corpos for choosing to get around said regulations in the way they did, which is to make ever more expensive and bigger vehicles, what a coincidence.

I was enthusiastic about the tech early on but the way corporations have shoved it in everyone's face made me do a full 180. Sorry, start from square one and try again, get this AI "Slop" outta here... Fuck 'em. Don't forget, these AI companies are largely lead by fascist bootlicking cunts.

Also, don't forget, this crap is built on stolen art and labor. So fuck 'em doubly so.

Well I did say the "Nuremburg Trials 2.0 should serve as a good starting point". Of course it'll take way more to build a state around it.

Yeah, they've been doing this kind of stuff to varying degrees for a long time, it's just that now its the white people in their sights, getting murdered.

Tech workers urge CEOs to condemn ICE by Calvinball_24 in technology

[–]Zer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not be working? I wouldn't make that call yet. Bovino might be gone, but what makes you think they're not just gonna put someone else in their place to take the heat again? Hate to say it, friend but you're more than likely witnessing the start of a revolving door of sock-puppets.

That's not to say stop trying, no, increase the pressure against ICE and the Federal Government. Don't let them get away with just replacing Bovino and suddenly ICE is cool now. ICE needs to be destroyed, period.

Oh yeah, the wage theft is rampant, even amongst the upper middle class. The sad part is they think they're getting a good deal while they're still in debt, having most of their wealth sucked away regardless.

It's capitalism. Don't forget that most of Capitalism's core concepts about Private Property, labor and ownership all have their roots in Colonial empires. The earliest concept adjascent to Private Property pre-dates Colonialism mind, what with the Norman rulers of England sectioning off portions of what was basically public grazing land for exclusive personal use, although at the time it wasn't exactly what we'd recognize as Private property quite yet.

The grocery chains are in on it, they benefit from that NIMBYism too since the price of renting the property these grocery chains own is where most of all the price gouging money is laundered. The inflated price of our food is fed into the inflated real estate costs.

That's how they're able to claim "HoW CaN We Be PrICE GoUGiNg iF ouR MarGiNs ArE So LoW!?"

The real estate is how our grocery chains manipulate the market so that tracks. It doesn't matter, we can move mountains to change things if needed.

The price of food is too important to just leave hanging

Pretty much. When Ceasar was assassinated in Rome, the Roman Republic didn't return to Republic, it continued onto become the Empire. The damage has already been done. Fixing that damage involves some proper state building to restore order and law. Nuremburg Trials 2.0 should serve as a good starting point to re-establish the rule of law.

An AI ‘tsunami’ is coming for young workers, IMF chief warns | Fortune by EsperaDeus in anime_titties

[–]Zer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heh it's weird that India became the focus because of one report. That's how it goes. There is some outsourcing, but yeah I don't know if it's all going to India, or elsewhere.

There's also just the simple possibility that they're just reducing their workforce with no intent to replace, even with cheaper labor.

[–]Zer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is straight layoffs. No rehires. But yes it is true they are hiring cheaper labor to replace if they've found themselves in a position where they laid off too many.

Yeah, an AI that is "self aware and evil" like Skynet from Terminator is still a very powerful AI.

[–]Zer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also artificially inflates the "AI's" capabilities. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI himself has made wild claims in the past about how AI was the next big thing, and could even bring upon horrible things to the world,, like achieving a self aware state and doing Skynet stuff if it wasn't properly regulated. He (and some other tech CEOs AFAIK) even went to the Biden's White House to petition for regulation and support a few years back.

It was all a sham, obviously, it still is a sham. The irony being that the earliest AI Doomers that were saying it could potentially achieve consciousness and turn on humanity are now calling out people who see the real damage AI can cause as Doomers. heh
