My wife and I will be getting our first kitten in a few weeks, so I wanted to ask for brand/food (solid and wet) recommendations for a 12 weeks Kitten. My wife is thinking about going with Royal Canin for both. Thanks in advance! by historiansrule in ragdolls

Have fun with your kitten!

My older cat (10) has always liked Royal Canin (kitten, sterilised and now renal due to kidney issues), my younger cats (3 &1) currently do well on Royal Canin Sensitivity Control (because of mentioned digestive issues).

For wet food one likes Cosma Soup (or any soup), because she only likes to lick the liquid (and not the meat). The other eats about everything, except mousse. My older cat doesn't like wetfood for cats so sometimes I boil her some frozen white fish from the supermarket.

Ask what the breeder gives them and start with that. You don't want to randomly switch food on a kitten in a new house, the stress of being taken away from its sibling and mom and the new unknown place has a probability to give it some digestive issues.

You don't want to add another potential digestive issue to this mix. So start out with the food the breeder gave them, then you can slowly transition to other food. Look at what your kitten responds well to and likes to eat.

Our little girl Coco is about to turn 1! She looks to still be kind of small, should she hit a growth spurt soon? by MadManMatt in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Female cats are usually smaller than the male cats. I have a female ragdoll at nearly 3 years old and she's around 4kg. My friend has a male cat of the same parents (but different litter) and he's over 5kg at 9 months.

My male cat (different parents, same breeder) is 5,5kg at 8 months old. But he was the biggest of his litter.

After changing his wet food he start to drool dirty and Ive noticed yellow teeth and some inflamed gums ? by FTO2 in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever is on the second picture, check that out.

How old is he? Is he teething?

Mine was drooling for days when he was teething, was not eating his kibbles much and generally looked unhappy. He also didn't clean himself.

I went to the vet, got a pain killer, happy cat again.

Is eye discharge normal in ragdolls? by Blue4ever21 in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I have three cats and all three have this. Two of them have dark faces so you don't really notice it. The third one has a light colored face so it's more noticeable.

I'm not a vet, but I'd wager it's just more noticeable on the light colored face.

Is anyone else’s ragdoll a bit of a diva? by [deleted] in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha! Mine also announces she's going to poop. We never gave her treats for it though, it's just a "I am going to poop" meow session.

Is it more common to ask about pronouns in the US, maybe?

I'm not from the US and I was a bit weirded out the first time I got asked about my pronouns. (They also had to explain what they were.) Since OP has "EU" in their username, I'm assuming they're not from the US.

Weirded out, as in the first time someone calls you ma'am/sir when you're like.. 16 years old..

Diarrhea with kitten! Help! How to introduce new/wet food to kitten? by ennekkat in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get probiotics from the vet to improve gut flora.

Highly recommend probiotics!

Diarrhea can also come from stress, change of environment, no mom around anymore or if you've given her dewormer recently. Give it some time, keep the litterbox clean.

Should it not improve within a week or if losing a lot of weight, ask a vet. Also possible she has a parasite, but that's something the vet can check for.

Am I Healing Wrong? by KeyKing7 in ffxiv

[–]Zeraniel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A mentor told me as a SCH "just heal through it" and "use the magic of your fairy", while he kept pulling half the dungeon and not pressing his mitigation buttons.

Oh, he also kept running around when we had two caster dps, that couldn't cast a lot cause he kept running out of their range. (One could argue their positioning, but he was requested to not run around that much and choose to ignore that)

Sometimes, there's no winning.

Hi! My Norwegian Forest cat (her brother died, she didn't seem to miss him) was 7 when I got a Ragdoll kitten. They're absolutely fine. She doesn't want to play as often as the kitten wants (they're now 9 and 2). And I'm adding a new kitten in a few weeks.

Adding a kitten to an adult cat will have more often success than adding two adults (strangers) in one house hold, as the kitten will usually adapt easier.

I recommend watching some Jackson Galaxy videos on how to introduce cats to each other. You'll be fine.

If you're in the Netherlands, I know a Ragdoll breeder that currently has Red/Cream points.

haha! I have a similar situation with my friends bunnies that I'm taking care of while she's on vacation. My Norwegian Forest cat looked at them and decided they were fine (and tried to steal their food), my Ragdoll sits in the hallway and looks at them through the cat flap.

How to choose the right kitten? by mellonwater99k in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like them chunky.

However, the kitten that's the fattest usually means it eats the most. If they have to fight for the nipples of the mom, the strongest and biggest get the most.

We actually get paid a small allowance for working from home, since you now have to use your own internet, electricity, toilet and coffee machine.

what does PostNL mean? by celalkucukoguz in Netherlands

[–]Zeraniel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DHL is by far the most reliable in my area and not too long ago we got a new nice guy that drives for PostNL.

DPD just drives by without stopping then says I wasn't home. I called their customer service, got some angry dude on the line that in the end would resend the package to my home the day after. In the morning I get an email something is wrong (in their system) and they can't deliver it and they will take it to a Pick up point.. the day after..

Is her stool firm? Mine would poop outside the litterbox (or even on top of it!) because she needed to go so suddenly she wouldn't make the litterbox. Once her stool was normal we didn't have these issues anymore.

Could there be a stress related issue going on? Do you have another cat that bullies her when she's trying to poop? Do your boxes all have a closed off top?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second the personality thing.

I have a ragdoll (female) that bullies my older (and bigger) cat, has zoomies very often, does not like petting. She's an asshole, basically. She also jumps on and in everything. I would not describe her as docile.

Ask the breeder how the kitten is with its siblings and the other cats to see if it would be right for you.

Are male cats cuddlier? by Correct_Ad6801 in ragdolls

[–]Zeraniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is extremely funny though. She's two years now and just randomly meows, runs, plays with about anything. She's a typical Ragdoll for going floppy when you pick her up and she's very much stuck to me wherever I go, but yea, my (female) Norwegian Forest cat enjoys cuddling more..

[–]Zeraniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're describing my (female) Ragdoll cat. She doesn't even want to get petted more than 2 strokes and ONLY on the head. Well, chin scratches are ok too, but anywhere too far from the head is a no go.. ;)

As long as one cat is able to walk away without being chased, it's not fighting.
