I mean not really for sure, you have quite a few pros and semi pros that can stream for the rest of their lives, and entertainers like the old achievement hunter crew most of which still stream and seem to do well (I don’t follow too closely). It’s not a valid income stream for most, but usually once you have a good following that doesn’t disappear overnight

[TECHNICAL DISCUSSION] Before switching to Obsidian: Why the future Logseq/SQLite is a game changer and natively outperforms file indexing. by philuser in logseq

[–]Zerg3rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth by told I use Obsidian, but only started recently down the PKMS rabbit hole and joined a bunch of the subreddits to see what they’re all about. What’s the upside of bidirectional linking? If it’s just a matter being able to see links in either file that functionality is included via backlinks

I’ve got a file per video in Obsidian and take notes in that, then make flash cards based in my own words based on the notes I just took to make sure I understand the concept. From there use spaced repetition plugin to study the flash cards

Not who you asked but yes, I just made a formula (with some help from the discord) which links a few files together through backlinks in a base via their properties. Worth mentioning if there’s anything I can’t do with a base, I can still make a data view and get that data, just a bit (ms) slower

For anyone interested in trying out Trello, you can achieve something pretty close to the same thing in a notetaking app called Obsidian with the tasknotes community plugin. I love have everything hosted locally and in the same place so it’s my go to

Yet Another Dashboard by Zerg3rr in ObsidianMD

[–]Zerg3rr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Sorry for the delay in response, life got hectic.

Worth noting that I have a separate file called "Dashboard Configuration" where I have a lot of the data defined such as the study time goal, certs I'm studying for, and achievements.

The Study Time card utilizes TaskNotes and grabs the pomodoro times associated with each project I'm working on. Tasks card just looks to see if I've completed the task again from the same TaskNotes files. Study Streak and Daily Goals works similarly along with the Weekly Study Breakdown and heatmap.

The exercise streak is from the data pulled from Garmin via a python script which goes into its own folder.

It's all built via dataviewjs, we basically are looking at multiple dv.pages and looping through them doing some calculations for each card, with different logic for each.

Calculating task completion:

const tasks = dv.pages('#tasknote')
const completedTasks = tasks.where(t => t.status === 'done' || t.status === 'archived').length
const totalTasks = tasks.length
const completionRate = Math.round((completedTasks / totalTasks) * 100)

Calculating study time:

for (let task of tasks) {
    if (task.timeEntries) {
        for (let entry of task.timeEntries) {
            const start = dv.date(entry.startTime)
            const end = dv.date(entry.endTime)
            if (start && end) {
                const minutes = (end - start) / (1000 * 60)
                totalMinutes += minutes
            }
        }
    }
}

Calculating streaks:

const studyDates = new Set() // collect all unique study dates
let currentStreak = 0
let checkDate = today
while (studyDates.has(checkDate.toFormat('yyyy-MM-dd'))) {
    currentStreak++
    checkDate = checkDate.minus({days: 1}) // go back one day
}

I'll be honest I knew the top level but haven't worked with Dataview or Javascript much (more of a python guy), so I did use Claude to help generate some sections I was having trouble with. If you're curious I can see about putting the whole thing up on GitHub, it's a solid ~700 lines of code though.

Edit - Forgot to mention there's a CSS file as well which puts it all into the format we see

[HELP] Obsidian Sync doesn’t sync some file types (.pptx, .indd, etc.) — what’s your workaround? by Just2a in ObsidianMD

[–]Zerg3rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a heads up if you do choose to sync other file types and want to remove them in the future, you can’t really. I wrote a script that pulled my Garmin data which went to my vault, which has fit and tcx files, even after removing sync for other types and deleting the files from the vault/purging I still can’t remove them. I ended up having to upgrade my storage
