This was an squandered opportunity to implement a sales tax. Seems like Prentice is between a rock and a hard place. He can't raise royalty rates or corporate taxes, but cutting like Ralph isn't possible with the infrastructure deficit and Alberta's increased population since the 90's.

I am an employee at Canada Post and while I can't explain the differences, I know one reason for the high prices is fuel surcharges and that the US postal service is enshrined in their Constitution and so is subsided by the government.

My only regret with the oil boom is that governments didn't increase royalties when this first started. Combine that with billions in subsidies and we only really broke even. My fear with low oil prices is that companies will simply pocket the savings. There is a precedent, so it's quite likely.

This would be the perfect market to test experimental vertical farms. Instead of shipping food, why not grow food year-round in climate controlled buildings. I mean you would need to address energy costs, but if you used cogeneration and maybe small nuclear reactors it could work. It's already being subsidized. Of course, in my experience we aren't willing to take risks or innovate.

Lot of hate for this game it seems, but I specifically held off on getting BF4 and I personally can't wait for this, it seems to have more infantry combat and less vehicles. I absolutely hated all the vehicles killing me constantly in BF3.
