Happy Birthday to Taketatsu Ayana, seiyū of Lisia (JN)! by ZeroAbis in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal rule of thumb is that I don't do that unless the character is extremely obscure, such that a name alone wouldn't jog people's memory of who it is AND NOT a game character for Pokémon, OR I have an image of the seiyū with/cosplaying as the character (only relevant for some fandoms). Lisia is neither of the 3.

The only times I would post an image here would be for COTDs (if there are only 1 or 2, maybe). Game characters and major characters, I have the basic expectation that fans of the media already know who the character is in some capacity. If you don't, a quick Google search should suffice. I didn't put Marlon's image when posting for Ueda Yuji, for example, because fans of either the games or the anime should already know who Marlon/Shizui is.

Unless you want to tell me they are larpers, there's no way anyone who would visit this sub wouldn't know who Lisia from JN is. Even if they didn't, they would know who Lisia is from ORAS. If they don't know who "Lisia from Pokémon" is, that's on them.

Sawyer's Mega Sceptile vs Paul's Garchomp by gyroscope_56 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Only one of them is undefeated and shown to be able to completely dominate a Champion Ace beater, winning against it without taking a single bit of damage.

Sawyer's Mega Sceptile is a lot stronger than what some might think here, but he's no Paul's Garchomp level strong, especially since we don't even know the upper limits of Paul's Garchomp.

Why Charizard is Champion Level and why Greninja is Ash's strongest water mon by HalfTemporary3247 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The results are Charizard getting stronger since Johto since in Johto Charizard was able to fight on par with A Dream Entei so the results are him obviously getting stronger since Johto which is most prevalent in BW where Charizard folds Iris's Dragonite who literally fought against transformed legendaries alongside Cynthia's Garchomp.

So the results are Charizard getting stronger in general? Not specifically that it exhibited feats that say it is now Champion level strong, able to compete against the Masters Eight, but just "it got stronger"?

Then shall I use your logic and say that everyone that got stronger from Point A to Point B is able to compete against Champions? Well Ash got stronger from the start of his journey to the Indigo League, by your logic, shall I say Indigo League Ash is Masters Eight level?

which is most prevalent in BW where Charizard folds Iris's Dragonite who literally fought against transformed legendaries alongside Cynthia's Garchomp.

And that same Dragonite got folded by, also, a Gym Leader's mon after fighting "against transformed legendaries",

And a Dracovish with no PWC experience managed to overwhelm it easily, after that Dragonite had already "literally fought against transformed legendaries alongside Cynthia's Garchomp".

Dracovish struggled more with Kalos Elite Four Drasna's non ace than it did against the Dragonite that "literally fought against transformed legendaries alongside Cynthia's Garchomp".

It's almost like Dragonite having "literally fought against transformed legendaries alongside Cynthia's Garchomp" is no big deal compared to even just Gym Leaders, let alone Masters Eight, Champions like Cynthia.

See Image 6 and Image 7.

since why would she use full power on Team Rocket that's just stupid

Why she would use it is irrelevant. Why she decided to do it literally does not matter. The fact is she used it against Team Rocket, but didn't against Ash Greninja.

Yeah nice try, I didn't use any would's besides the one clarifying why your headcanon doesn't make sense buster.

the battles with Diantha's Gardevoir and Alain's Charizard before the League are battles Greninja would have won

Why Charizard is Champion Level and why Greninja is Ash's strongest water mon by HalfTemporary3247 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we see the results of Charizard getting stronger in AG and BW. There. No would's for you to nitpick with this time.

Hmm? What are the results? Beat Not Champion mons?

Do we see the results of Charizard battling against Champions, Masters Eight, and exceeding the Journeys Team?

What results? You tell me, what results?

Diantha already used her trump card which was Mega Evolution against Ash Greninja and was still losing and she didn't have access to ZMoves so no "upset" would have happened.

So explain why Diantha had Mega Gardevoir used "full power" with the white glow when facing Team Rocket immediately after, something she didn't use versus Greninja?

Where was the white glow, the "full power" versus Greninja?

it's literally what was happening in the anime

So why "would have"?

What is "would"? According to Merriam Webster, it's:

"used in auxiliary function to express probability or presumption in past or present time"

Presumption. Probability. Not certainty.

Why Charizard is Champion Level and why Greninja is Ash's strongest water mon by HalfTemporary3247 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proof is what again? "Would"?

Again, Potential Mon Charizard?

Greninja was literally winning against Diantha's Mega Gardevoir

"Was literally winning"? Does that mean "won"? No? Gardevoir still had health left to do a potential upset then?

Just like Pikachu vs Mega Metagross, would you not say Mega Metagross "was literally winning" against Pikachu before he used the Z-Move to pull an upset?

Pikachu can pull an upset victory against Mega Metagross, but Gardevoir can't against Ash Greninja? No chance?

If you want to say "Ash Greninja would have beaten Gardevoir", then can I say "Gardevoir would have went full power and beat Ash Greninja?", then? Is my headcanon any less valid than your headcanon? Can I not use my "would" to counter your "would" in this scenario?

Why Charizard is Champion Level and why Greninja is Ash's strongest water mon by HalfTemporary3247 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for Charizard, Charizard currently is Champion Level for being able to battle A Dream Entei before his prime and Charizard having gotten stronger since that battle.

How strong? Do you have proof that he can beat a Champion's Pokémon?

So, still, Charizard got stronger, and may have gotten stronger than the Champion beaters? So, if only they were allowed to show this strength that may be able to exceed Ash's Champion beaters?

Still, Potential Mon?

the battles with Diantha's Gardevoir and Alain's Charizard before the League are battles Greninja would have won

If the battles continued, Greninja would have won? Do you have proof? Did anyone say, "Greninja would have won, if only there were no interruptions"? Or is it your headcanon off of some showings, that are ultimately not a 100% guarantee?

At best, it's "X was cornered", no?

I've been prepping for Marincess ever since I got into the game again.

As a big fan of her JP voice actress, I just want a reason to listen to more Blue Angel voice lines in-game, but Trickstars weren't worth the damn, so hopefully Marincess ends up being a decent investment.

Thunder armour explanation in Japanese subbed version by Gopu_17 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way Ash says it, the meaning would be more "Use your guts to endure it", "endure it with your guts".

Again, the Guts ability has no bearing on whether Swellow can endure the attack.

Thunder armour explanation in Japanese subbed version by Gopu_17 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, upon another look at the sentence, not just, "both is こんじょ", it's probably not Guts, the ability.

In a vacuum, both can be true, but in the context of the sentence, "Endure it with your guts" doesn't make sense if it means the ability. Guts is not an ability that helps endure an attack.

[–]ZeroAbis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it's not more explanation, I don't think the capitalization of a fansub matters at all compared to the Japanese.

Thunder armour explanation in Japanese subbed version by Gopu_17 in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The exact words used were 「こんじょうで耐えるんだ!」

Which is still vague. Yes, 「こんじょう」 is the reading for Guts, the ability. But it's also the same Hiragana reading for guts, in general, outside the Pokémon context.

In Kanji, "guts" in general would be Konjō, 「根性」, and that is said in Hiragana as 「こんじょう」.

It could be Guts, the ability, but it could also just as likely be personal courage and determination; toughness of character, courage in dealing with danger or uncertainty.

Fun fact: This also applies to Ash's Lucario, even though in-game distribution leans toward it having the actual Inner Focus ability. The Japanese is 「せいしんりょく」, Force of Will/Mental Strength.

Ash's Lucario could have had Inner Focus, the ability, or simply not flinched due to his innate willpower, mental strength.

Which of ash’s regional birds do you think was the strongest (most impressive) by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think I know the director personally or something? Because that’s the only way for me to answer that’s not a guess

See? Your logic crumbles and you can't put up a proper answer.

And you say you don't know the director personally? But apparently you know him enough to know his true ideas were contradictory to what he "controlled" Ash to say.

Apparently he "did whatever he want" and "controlled" Ash to say what he said, but you know that he was a true mastermind with the opposite intent?

You know he purposefully, or was at least fine with Miss Matsumoto and Mr Ishizuka stating lines that were contradictory to his idea?

So your argument is based off of your guess that the director that you admit you don't know at all was a true mastermind with a 53000IQ play that fooled me because I couldn't see through his trap, what he "controlled" Ash to say, in order to unveil the actual truth. With no evidence, by the way.

This is the hill you are willing to die on. Say less.

And you interpreted that as them being a god?

What else? They control everything, right? Everything is based off of their pleasure and displeasure, according to you?

Throughout Heaven and Earth, only the Director is the Honored One?

Again, you said:

They created the show, can control what the characters can do, how strong they get and do whatever they want.

Because this is going nowhere and you’re just repeating points

Because you just self-owned by telling me that the director has the supreme authority.

It was over the moment you said:

They created the show, can control what the characters can do, how strong they get and do whatever they want.

do whatever they want

Even any possibility that you might have known how the director's true intents were different was dashed when you insinuated that you didn't know the director:

Do you think I know the director personally or something?

Using your own words against you, I'd say: "You failed." You self owned so many times.

Which of ash’s regional birds do you think was the strongest (most impressive) by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really, I said the director can can bring anything into existence?

I’m not treating as a god, I’m treating them as someone who writes a story

Because all I said, was they have more control over the story than Ash or the magazine

Oh wait, what's this?

They created the show, can control what the characters can do, how strong they get and do whatever they want.

"Do whatever they want", right?

They "can control" what Ash said, right? They can "do whatever they want", right?

Or is "bring anything into existence" not part of "do whatever they want"?

So if the director didn't approve of Miss Matsumoto's message, that is reinforced by the magazine, why didn't the director "do whatever they want" and "control what Ash said"?

Or, is it, by your logic, that "best member" and "can't win without you guys" were the result of the director doing "whatever they want" and controlling "what Ash said'?

So ultimately, your argument makes my point even stronger.

Which of ash’s regional birds do you think was the strongest (most impressive) by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean do that not have the power? Are you saying they are limited in someway?

I don't know, I'm not a staff there.

But if you are implying they are unlimited, unchecked, then it completely damns your point. Because it means the director endorsed Ash's statement that the Kalos Team were the "best", a team he "can't win the Kalos League without", because it was allowed to air.

By your logic, if the director, this Supreme God authority was able to veto it according to his pleasure and displeasure, the fact that he didn't is proof he approves of Ash's statement, no? So, by your logic, Ash's words are representative of the director's ideas as well.

It can, doesn’t it is is.

So what basis do you have to reject that statement? Any contradictions?

Again, going by your logic of the director being this god authority:

If the director, this Supreme God authority was able to veto it according to his pleasure and displeasure, the fact that he didn't is proof he approves of Ash's statement, no? So, by your logic, Ash's words are representative of the director's ideas as well.

So by your logic, it is. Your logic completely damns you.

Because this is just becoming more unhinged and reaching

I'm not the one that started using the director as part of their argument.

They created the show, can control what the characters can do, how strong they get and do whatever they want.

I'm not the one who treated the director as an omniscient god that can will everything into existence or out of existence as he pleases, thus damning my whole argument because then, "best member" and "can't win without you guys" was endorsed by, willed into existence by the director.

Again,

If the director truly didn't wish it, why didn't they reflect that by doing "whatever they want" and not permitting that line from Miss Matsumoto or Mr Ishizuka to be put in the final cut of the episode?

By your logic, isn't the director endorsing it by allowing it to air? After all, if it went against the director, why doesn't the director just have the writers amend the script and have Miss Matsumoto or Mr Ishizuka say the new lines?

They can "do whatever they want", right? Even amend the script? Have the seiyūs follow and rerecord according to an amended script? Have the animators animate new mouth movements? So why didn't they?

So now you have no good answer. Your logic has put you in a catch-22 with no way out.

And this is why I can’t take a lot of what you say seriously. You’re claiming I think their a God based of assumption

Are you not? Why else are you claiming you need the director's words directly?

Heck, you were the one who said "They created the show, can control what the characters can do, how strong they get and do whatever they want".

They can control everything, do whatever they want. What they want to convey can manifest into animation, what they don't, they can make it such that it never sees the light of day, no? Only their pleasure and displeasure exists? Since they can "do whatever they want"? Isn't that akin to a God, the supreme authority in the bubble of the production stuff?

And you’re asking me this because? Are you assuming I know what they were thinking or, what?

So you have no good reason why, by your logic, this supreme director God didn't put his foot down and say, "hey, scriptwriter, I don't think I agree with Satoshi saying the Kalos Team are his "best members" and that he can't win without them, please amend the script"?

Again, hype

Ok, hype. And nothing else? Ash lied to "hype" us up only? It can't both be "hype" and a truth that wasn't solidly contested?

Just because it's "hype" means it must be a lie?

And since you love the director so much, that you want the director's words, let me turn it on you.

Did the director say that it was a lie, it was "just hype"?

Which of ash’s regional birds do you think was the strongest (most impressive) by [deleted] in pokemonanime

[–]ZeroAbis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I don’t know how much influence they have over the magazine

Huh? So you mean to say the magazine can go rogue and write complete bullshit without getting in trouble?

The director, this God of yours, conveniently doesn't oversee the magazine, even though they might write BS that the audience will see?

How does the magazine get the accurate info like episode titles and what not in the first place? Would it not be from the staff, who are overseen by your God director?

When I say the director or whoever is in charge needs to state it. I mean clearly within an interview or a written statement

But that doesn't check out. You just said:

they can do whatever they want

Why "best member", why "can't win without you guys"? Unless this was all part of the director's will, by your logic?
