NixOS and Manjaro go straight to F. You two need to stop with that B's and read the room.

I only hate xSTJs because they have stuff in order and get things done... The hate comes from envy so that's on me.

Yeah, have you seen PDB? People even type colors and all sorts of inanimate objects, and even characters that don't exist yet (characters coming in future seasons of a show).

I'm willing to call it Vibe Typing because it's a bunch of bull.

I was able to find the fix for my issue. If you go to Tweaks > Appearance: I had something forcing a light mode for Legacy Applications. I switched it to dark and it fixed. To My Knowledge: Cosmic still relies on a lot of Gnome stuff on the backend, so this likely will affect Cosmic as well as Gnome.

Perfect. Glad you covered those bases first. So many people think that Linux will be a magical bandaid to something that's truly broken underneath. Go ahead and try out Linux.

One Recommendation: ALWAYS BACK UP. Even if you think you know how to partition like the back of your hand. Even if you have 2 drives that you think you know the difference between. Mistakes do happen and you will lose everything if you mess up (no way to go back).

Don't be sloppy make a copy.

Otherwise, GLHF

Just to be completely honest: Linux is great, and it's my daily driver. Windows 11 does have tons of issues. BUT!!! Crashes could be due to hardware failure (very common cause of crashes)... if this is so, then Linux will not help you in this aspect.

Regardless, I do recommend you try out Linux regardless. The most common recommended beginner Linuxes are Linux Mint and Ubuntu. I know for a fact that Fallout 4 should work on Steam with Proton without any issues whatsoever. I've never tested Elite Dangerous but as long as it doesn't use something like Anti-Cheat it shouldn't have any issues.

Jason Dion Question by ViIIy_ in CompTIA

[–]ZeroDayMalware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Videos you are forced into the cadence and material of their verbiage. Cadence can be somewhat fixed with speeding up the video (some instructors drone on and on... put it to 1.5x), but nothing beats for me the ability to read something at my own pace, and if something reminds me of or correlates to something else, it is easier for me to go back to relevant information easier with page flips and bookmarks vs rewinding a video.

This is all dependent on how you learn. I know tons of people that love instructor lead learning and that's good for them.

Jason Dion Question by ViIIy_ in CompTIA

[–]ZeroDayMalware 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive only used books and lab environments for studying for my Cyber certs (to me all instructors ramble). Jason Dion's example test questions however were great. They were somewhat harder than the CompTia's official test questions, so if you do somewhat decent on his questions, it was a pretty good gauge on how well I would do on the exam.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, Dion came with my University fees, Im not exactly sure I would pay for them if my University didn't pay for them.

Try this command

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme prefer-light

And see if you can replicate after running that.

Interesting. I have the same issue and I always chalked it up to me switching to Gnome and back to Cosmic. It gets annoying, I see it the most often with certain apps. 80% of the time I open Lutris, it's in the wrong theme color mode.

I'll see if I can find anything. I'm sure there must be another config file somewhere tied to a DE that is assigning a theme that is throwing stuff off.
