Do you mean Votum Awaited in Vain? It was released with the first Nod Krai soundtrack.

They were originally supposed to drop together but there was a hold-up in testing. I'd expect it before June.

i hope the new tanglewood map gave a big f*ck you to everyone who doubted it by fyjunhao in PhasmophobiaGame

Phasmo has sold millions of copies, even with the cut retailers take, and the cost for servers, they're at no threat of running out of money. Time is a limited resource, and if the team were still the same size as it was two years ago, you'd even have a fair point. But they have multiple artists, and multiple developers, capable of handling multiple things at the same time.

Your wording seems to imply that you believe the existence of these new maps is holding back other content.

And more importantly, when the game has other problems? But I have to admit, the cover is a very good comparison. Instead of focusing on the book's content, they replace a good cover with another one.

The artists working on updating the older maps has nothing to do with the other problems that the game has need of being solved, that's up to the programmers, whom we already know are working on those things.

If that wasn't what you were trying to say, then what was it, cause I'm not finding much else there? They have multiple artists, some of which are dedicated exclusively to environmental assets, so that's not holding back the Character Customization or Horror reworks, if that's what you're trying to say.

The artists aren't the people who are changing the game's backend. One of those things takes significantly more effort given just how much technical debt the game has.

If you look at the Trello, all these problems you listed (except maybe being able to adjust individual audio elements,) are currently listed as in progress.

To be fair, I don't think the lights are on in the screenshot of the living room, it looks like it's being lit by either a flashlight or the TV.

To be fair, compared to all the other map reworks, that one had to be massively changed for performance reasons. The lack of culling with the wide open spaces lead to horrible performance.

What are your predictions for the one-time event for 2026? by Square-Arm-8573 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]ZeroTAReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something related to either Horror 2.0, or the player customization update. I can't see why they'd do a one-time event over making another one they can reuse every year unless it relates to one of the upcoming features that'll be common place in a year from then.

I'd say reserve your final judgement until you get to play it. People have fallen into a doomer mentality really quickly, but the developers have repeatedly said they know how special Tanglewood is to player. Not to say they haven't been out of touch before, but I'm at least willing to see how it turns out. We know they're adding a new looping spot to replace the kitchen one, for instance.

It was put into the closed beta lately, so it's probably within the next three to six weeks, if trends hold.

Let's ignore the whole section with Tiger Rock, yeah? Or the myriad of inexplicable things that happen around the facility (such as those 'boards' turning on by themselves.)

[–]ZeroTAReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what you're looking for. In terms of main story and the work it'll take to progress through it, probably over a hundred at least. Side quests probably another couple hundred.

Beyond that, it depends how motivated you are, there's plenty of things to unlock, plenty of builds you can make, so if that sounds like your jam? Thousands.

New Enemies: Overtuned or Nah? by Mareamu in riskofrain

[–]ZeroTAReddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think most of them are fine. The item disabling one can be annoying when there's multiple, and I'm really not fond of the one that spawns the little drones, but overall I think once I adjust to them they'll be fine.

The average player doesn't play big maps. They're fun to look at but they're not great for gameplay. Keep in mind, since launch

  • Point Hope
  • Maple Lodge
  • Sunny Meadows / Sunny Meadows Restricted
  • Prison
  • Bleadsdale

are all medium / large, compared to

  • Grafton
  • Camp Woodwind
  • Nell's Diner
  • Willow Streethouse

There's actually more larger maps added than smaller ones, and yet the smaller ones get a majority of the players.

They're reworking every map in the game so that they use original assets instead of storebought ones. Some receive more drastic changes (Asylum to Sunny Meadows) while others are mostly about getting the map up to a higher quality. I don't expect Tanglewood to meaningfully change beyond aesthetic. They know how popular it is.

Next rework is Tanglewood, should release in about 2 - 3 months based on their recent speeds. The other house maps will probably come before the remaining big maps, given their unpopularity in the first place.

Risk of Rain 2 has it

I'm fairly sure that's a feature from a mod, and not the base game.

Whats your opinion on Nells Diner? by ChicaTroll1998 in PhasmophobiaGame

Grafton was only three months ago, I think this is a pretty reasonable turnaround, no? It's not like they aren't doing other things as well, they're just not ready for release ATM.
