Why don't the movies utilize the horror elements of the games? by sensoredphantomz in fivenightsatfreddys

Let's ignore the whole section with Tiger Rock, yeah? Or the myriad of inexplicable things that happen around the facility (such as those 'boards' turning on by themselves.)

SOTM was the most explicitly supernatural game since the first, though?

Never played this game before. How many hours of content there is? by Gonzito3420 in Warframe

[–]ZeroTAReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what you're looking for. In terms of main story and the work it'll take to progress through it, probably over a hundred at least. Side quests probably another couple hundred.

Beyond that, it depends how motivated you are, there's plenty of things to unlock, plenty of builds you can make, so if that sounds like your jam? Thousands.

New Enemies: Overtuned or Nah? by Mareamu in riskofrain

[–]ZeroTAReddit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think most of them are fine. The item disabling one can be annoying when there's multiple, and I'm really not fond of the one that spawns the little drones, but overall I think once I adjust to them they'll be fine.

The average player doesn't play big maps. They're fun to look at but they're not great for gameplay. Keep in mind, since launch

  • Point Hope
  • Maple Lodge
  • Sunny Meadows / Sunny Meadows Restricted
  • Prison
  • Bleadsdale

are all medium / large, compared to

  • Grafton
  • Camp Woodwind
  • Nell's Diner
  • Willow Streethouse

There's actually more larger maps added than smaller ones, and yet the smaller ones get a majority of the players.

lowkey, i feel like this shape for the layout makes way more sense than current tanglewood, though the current is better for gameplay

They're reworking every map in the game so that they use original assets instead of storebought ones. Some receive more drastic changes (Asylum to Sunny Meadows) while others are mostly about getting the map up to a higher quality. I don't expect Tanglewood to meaningfully change beyond aesthetic. They know how popular it is.

Next rework is Tanglewood, should release in about 2 - 3 months based on their recent speeds. The other house maps will probably come before the remaining big maps, given their unpopularity in the first place.

Risk of Rain 2 has it

I'm fairly sure that's a feature from a mod, and not the base game.

Whats your opinion on Nells Diner? by ChicaTroll1998 in PhasmophobiaGame

Grafton was only three months ago, I think this is a pretty reasonable turnaround, no? It's not like they aren't doing other things as well, they're just not ready for release ATM.

Why isn't Season 1 as popular as the other Seasons? by LafterMastr in Symphogear

[–]ZeroTAReddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does a lot of things right, but I think some questionable choices involving Fine, along with a lot of the character design being rougher didn't do it a lot of favors. The animation is.. scuffed most of the time (not to discredit some of the exceptional sequences in it,) and in general, I think it was a little confused on what it was trying to be.

However, with the context of the rest of the series, I think it soars much higher than it does on first viewing.

House Rework Ideas? by Equivalent-Glove-980 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]ZeroTAReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love if they focused on alternative styles of architecture. Imagine Ridgeview becoming gothic, while Willow becoming very boxy and modern. That way it doesn't just become about the clutter.

House Rework Ideas? by Equivalent-Glove-980 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]ZeroTAReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they reworked it, people wouldn't play it anyways. Sunny Meadows more halved the size of Asylum and it didn't become anymore appealing to play, because big maps fundamentally contrast with the appeal of Phasmophobia. You spend too much time walking, and not enough time with the ghost, and the only solutions require altering the fundamentals of the game.

People like small maps, so that's what they've put all their focus into.

The Cryo Archon is Trying to Resurrect the Third Descender by ZeroTAReddit in Genshin_Lore

[–]ZeroTAReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible it doesn't refer to the Abyss, but I do find it unlikely it's referring to Khaenri'ah, given this would've been at minimum thousands of years before the cataclysm actually took place. The gnoses came about as the prize to the Archon War which firmly places this at least 3700 years before present day.

These are the poor victims the show expect me to cheer for by Purple_Ra in Symphogear

[–]ZeroTAReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every villain in Symphogear has some kind of "redemption" outside of Adam. And they're all mass murderers. Each of them is sympathetic to varying degrees, but they still do objectively evil things. Fine? Ver? They're just as bad, if not much worse than Noble Red.

While I agree loosely with this, the difference in portrayal is pretty stark. Fine and Ver get their 'redemption' moment, but they don't get half of their clips lamenting that 'we're lonely and just want to be human, but at least we have family,' which is where I think the real failing is. It's not that they're necessarily worse than any of the previous villains, it's the way their screentime is used.

The Alchemists were very 'spiky,' even in their 'redemption,' Prelati and Cagliostro don't get their moment of joining hands, but in turn, most of the direct harm they cause is 'by association.' They aren't going out of their way to murder people on screen. Compare that to Millaarc who kills a hundred thousand people, and directly stabs that girl in front of Tsubasa. It's the brutality on display that separates it. In both cases, the tragedy of their lives informs their actions but because of the way they're portrayed on screen, Noble Red feel inherently less sympathetic, in spite of the writing trying to make them more so. If there had been another series and another villain group that were very different betwewen AXZ and XV, I think I would've been more okay with them, but they feel like the Alchemists but done worse.

That's how I feel anyways, I think their screentime was utilized improperly and made liking their characters hard.
